Rock on: MOTO ROKR E8 coming to T-Mobile

Despite their lackluster showing at MWC in Barcelona last week, Motorola got some positive press today when Engadget Mobile posted some pics of a ROKR E8 all decked out with T-Mobile branding.  I had the chance to play with the E8 at CES in early January and it's a pretty neat phone with solid music features and a unique look and feel that should slot nicely into T-Mobile's current lineup.

The ROKR E8 features a morphing keypad design that MOTO calls "ModeShift" - backlit control labels change depending on what application is active on the handset.  There's also a FastScroll touch-sensitive nav wheel and haptic feedback for all touch controls on the phone.  Sounds like a lot of tech, and it is, but it's actually quite intuitive and well-designed — or at least I thought it was when I played with it for five or ten minutes in Vegas.

The phone also packs a 2MP camera, two gigs of internal memory, a 3.5mm audio jack and stereo Bluetooth, and Real Audio for managing and playing music.  Engadget didn't have any word on pricing or launch date, but they do have pics including the T-Mob and myFaves logos, so this looks pretty legit.  T-Mobile does a nice job of serving up feature phones that are easy to use and reasonably priced (if lacking in 3G goodness), so I'm optimistic on this one.

Take a gander at the T-Mobile branded E8 over at Engadget Mobile from here.

MOTO PHOTO: ZN5 Gets Favorable First Look in UK
CNET UK's tech blog, "Crave," posted a hands-on with Motorola's new "Best in the World!" cameraphone, the ZN5.  While the Nokia N82 might have something to say about that Best in the World title, Crave seems to really be liking their time with this first by-product of Moto's collaboration with imaging giant Kodak.  While Crave didn't go so far as to actually download and view any of the 5MP photos they took with ZN5 (seems this was a restricted hands-on, and not a full review...

Rock On: T-Mobile Launches MOTO ROKR E8

Rock On: T-Mobile Launches MOTO ROKR E8
If you can't get 3G at least you can get some cool music phones.  First T-Mobile launched the low-end but entirely capable Nokia XpressMusic 5310, and now they've unleashed the Motorola ROKR E8.  I was pretty impressed by the E8 when I played with it at CES in January.  The "ModeShift" morphing keypad is a pretty clever way of offering context-sensitive controls and menus on a non-touchscreen phone, and the music player looked pretty nice.  Think of the E8 as a higher-end...
