Rumors: Verizon getting Touch Diamond in October, possibly in white

So you never know with these things, but I got a tip about the Verizon version of the HTC Touch Diamond and figured I'd pass it along.  This is from a fairly new source who's been pretty accurate with a few *very minor* bits of information passed along to me over the past few weeks.  Let's throw this new tip to the lions, shall we, and see how it turns out:

  • HTC Touch Diamond is be released for Verizon in October
  • Could end up as the new "Ice White" color scheme just released by HTC.

On to the specs............

  • Slower processor than current versions (400mhz)
  • Larger battery (1340mhh)
  • Larger rear cover (3mm thicker in total), due to larger battery.
  • No internal memory; microSD support up to 32GB
  • Same SDHC micro SD reader support as the Touch Pro.
Frankly, I'd like to see an exact launch date and price point here, but since there's none I'm imagining a $249 price (on contract, after rebate) to compete with Sprint's version.

What do you all think?  Worthy tip?  Already seen it elsewhere?  Total nonsense?  Who cares?  Air it out in the comments.

I have Verizon and i want a new high end smart phone im very disappointed with this im not sure about the white might be cool but whatever. The processor is so disappointing. The battery is a big plus but not enough to bring up for the processor. I heard that in the Verizon version they are going to take away accelerometer is that true.

VZ Navigator, best GPS software on the market?! You must be a Verizon sales rep to say that with a straight face! I have tested quite a few GPS mapping programs, including VZ Navigator, TomTom 6, Live Search, and Garmin. VZ Navigator doesn't even come close to any of them! It's entry-level, at best. Part of the reason for having a non-proprietary OS like Windows Mobile is that we are supposed to be free to install/use third party apps (such as GPS mapping software). Even if VZ Navigator was as good as Verizon touts it to be, just a few months of it's monthly charge would pay for a on-time perpetual license on TomTom 6 or Garmin, and Windows Live Search is completely FREE (assuming you already have unlimited data). My ultimate opinion: disabling the GPS stifles the potential of phones like this and is a sleazy, wasteful way for Verizon to squeeze more money out of us!

Who can blame Verizon if they only utilize their own GPS. Yes, you have to pay for it, but VZ Navigator gets very high ratings from every review source. VZ Nav is the best GPS system on the market.

Oh, and don't forget . . . Verizon will disable the GPS for everything but their own proprietary, pay-per-month/use VZ Navigator! Pretty shiesty, don't you think?

phone looks cool, good hopefully the rumors are true. i don't like the fact that the processor is lower, i'll have to wait until it comes out to play with it
