Yes it’s true; Verizon is finally making the Samsung i760 officially available at the end of this month. The long awaited Windows Mobile 6 with its slide out QWERTY keypad is the most powerful smart-phone Verizon will offer to date.

According to BGR you can get your hands on the i760 by simply calling customer service and offering them the SKU SCHi760ZKV and they will ship you one before the official release, but unfortunately this is not true. After talking with a very helpful customer service rep this morning I was informed neither CS nor the Business to Business channels have the phone even listed in their grids.

She did mention however that new phones are usually listed on Verizon's website even before CS is informed of the release. After checking with several departments she also could not confirm the pricing information of $399 for a 2 year or $459 for a 1 year contract both offer a $50 MIR. I would suspect that pricing sounds about right (maybe a little high considering the price drop of the iPhone) – we’ll have to wait and see.

We will keep you posted if the phone is actually available for purchase before the release date. =;^ )

Monday, September 24, 2007It looks like the rumor was started over at BGR - Oh well - the new LG xv6800 is going to be a much better choice anyway!

Friday, September 14, 2007It's just too bad the phone is so ugly and way over priced!

Friday, September 14, 2007Hmmm I've heard that Verizon will offer an extra $100 discount when you order the phone online - $249 is a little more reasonable, but you're right even with the extra discount the phone already looks dated!

Friday, September 14, 2007I tried to call CS and got the same response - NOT available nor would they confirm the release date?

At long last: VZW Samsung i760 on sale October 19th
Verizon Wireless just sent over a press release announcing the long-awaited release of the Samsung i760 smartphone.  Actually, I don't know if folks are still "awaiting" this one or not, as it was first shown last winter on the trade show circuit. The i760 is a touchscreen device with a horizontal-slider QWERTY board and a front-mounted dialing keypad.  It's a look that folks seem to either be intrigued or flat-out turned off by.  Along with the dual keypads, the 760 will...
