September 27: Sprint Instinct HD photos, specs, and availability

I'm tired of the word "ninja" in this context but haven't thought of anything better...maybe we could call them "secret agents."  Thanks to my, um, "anoymous friend"/secret agent/ninja for sharing some info on Sprint's upcoming Samsung HD including these glorious press photos.  On the one hand these came from a brand new friend of mine.  On the other hand, they match up with what I've been seeing and hearing from other sources, and the documents included these official photos, so I'm gonna run with it.

Look for Instinct HD to hit Sprint's retail outlets on Sunday Sept 27th at an on contract price somewhere between $99 and $149.  I know, I know, I'd really like to see it below the $100 mark, but as of now, the jury is still out.  The range makes sense, though, considering Instinct HD is to be a very high-end featurephone in terms of specifications but not quite a flagship smartphone along the lines of Pre, Hero, Touch Pro2, or Tour.  Not to mention the rumored-to-be-launching-at-CTIA "Instinct Q" Android device, also from Samsung.

Here's the information that I have - make of it what you will.  Again, to the best of my totally unofficial knowledge, this looks to be pretty dead-on.  Question is, if you're signing on with Sprint for two years what's it gonna be?  A true smartphone or a "dumb" phone with a 5M camera and "Hi-Res" video out?

Other question is, does this thing do 720p video capture and video-out or not? I've been hearing it will, but all I got today was "record and play videos in Hi-Res." Hi-Res, eh?

If only this was going to be the new verizon feature phone, although the LG Env touch is sufficient enough.

i would like to know where Aron Baker get's his information he doesn't cite his source. All we know is that the information came from a friend who gave him a tip on the device. If i where him i would wait till you get something more official though a press release.

That's a tired excuse. Like every other network there are spots where service is spotty.

the only thing I don't like is the shape of the phone its self and the shape of the camera

Wow! Really? The shape of the camera?!?!?! Hmmmm...it is a bit big, but it's the back of the phone and it's 5.0 mega-pixels for pete's sake. I'll finally be able to put away my stand-alone point and shoot for all but the most important occassions. 5.0 mega-pixels on a phone...i'll take it in nearly any shape.

Yet another Instinct but at least this time it is a much better upgrade than what was made in the Instinct s30 model. Yes WiFi was something I was looking for but does that mean it is equipped with IM services(Yahoo,AIM)?? But i'll be waiting for the phoen to launch so i can get a full review. Im currently waiting to switch to Sprint but if Im not able to then VZW is my next best choice.

I believe this is what the original should have been plus HD recording and Wi-Fi(though I wish the original had that too) and I am very happy to test this when it comes out. I think i will be happy but I am also just slighty curious about the Q so I am stuck on waiting or getting what I think will be what I wanted with the instinct to begin with.

As much as i can say that i HATE instinct, this one... Meh... at least it has wifi, and accelerometer. Camera and Vid capture w/e that was there before. And well, they say they improved the browser? i don't think so. They're using the same oh-so-magnificent descritpion on it as the lst one, and look how it came out. Total turn off. Nevertheless, i would still like to test this phone, just for the fun of it. NOT buy it. So... sepember 27 im goin to a sprint store and test it out. But no buying. Im staying with my pre :D (touchstone rocks!)

Bear in mind that if the rumor pans out, this will be running Opera Mobile as a browser. Opera Mobile(not to be confused with Opera Mini) is a full-featured browser available for WinMo handset at this time.
