It's official. Early Summer is when we can expect the next US Android device from T-Mo. The US Sapphire/Magic, MyTouch 3G, whatever you want to call it - it is arriving soon. I got my paws on an Ion very recently. And even though most of you have seen it already, I thought I'd share some snaps. I had to take them very quickly with a Kodak Zi6 so you'll have to excuse the focus.

More info on why I was sitting in Starbucks with two G1s, an Ion, a Portlander in PR and a Chile-based entrepreneur will be posted soon.

Some1 help me choose between the Memoir, G1, or Zine? I literally looked at probably 30 video review(s) here on phonedog and narrowed down to these 3. What is the best phone overall and has a good picture. thanx -Cody TN

ps: any other phone suggestion(s) would be helpful too.

I would get the g1 from the options you have , but the blackberry 8900 seems like a better choice. i chose the blackberry 8900 over the g1 and i never regretted it :D hope I helped.

The cool blue strip on the black MyTouch is swaying me away from the white one!

I just think the black plastic will be a huge fingerprint magnet.

Having a physical keyboard is only better if the keyboard is a good one. For example: the G1's keyboard's buttons are way too flush for my taste. And look at the miniscule Palm Pre keyboard with the too small buttons. I would rather have a onscreen keyboard than both of those because neither of them help you type accurately.

We need an Android phone with a keyboard that types as nice as a Blackberry keyboard.

hey john i have a question i got the official 1.5/cupcake update for the g1 recently and it has auto rotate but its not like the one you showed us you showed us what you call the "G1 Shimmy" or something like that what happened do you know? help?

I think the G-shimmy will be on future devices that do not have their own custom transition - like the HTC focus/fade deal. I'm really not sure which elements we'll see on what phones. The hacked ROMs I've been using for previews often include miscellaneous elements that the hackers pull from various resources. So you can never be sure if they represent future products accurately.

I think Im gonna wait to see the Samsung i7500.
Its supposed to be a little thinner and an AMOLED screen.... which means brighter more vivid screen with less memory consumption.
BOO YA KA SHA!

The reason I got the G1 over the Iphone was for the keyboard. Is there another phone with a keyboard in the works and maybe a bit slimmer than the G1? In any event, this phone looks pretty cool

You probably want to keep an eye on one referred to as Bigfoot and Morrison. Calgary has a QWERTY as well. I'm sure more are coming.

I own the G1, and my opinion is this just looks stupid.
It does not have a keyboard, only virtual keyboard. That
would get really annoying. The only time I use my virtual
keyboard on my G1 is when im driving. Honestly, I would
not buy this, not to mention, it just looks ugly.

<3 the G1

should i get the g1 or wait for this? its a hard choice . heres how i think about it. a keybored for me to use with a touch screen keybored.

or just a touch screen keybored. it makes a little hard to choice

I think that u shld get this. Not having a keyboard is fine, and I thonk that the G1 keyboard is too flush mounted.

I think you should get the MyTouch. It's sleeker and the on-screen keyboard is actually pretty good. I type almost as fast on the on-screen keyboard than on the physical keyboard. (I have a G1)

looks really nice, do you know if it will support multi-touch and will it have a 5 megapixel camera?

Hopefully their new Android phone will have a better looking UI than the G1. They need something along the lines of the HTC Hero Rosie UI look in my opinion.
