Titanium: Is this the LG Voyager Refresh?

Engadget Mobile's got a photo of the Verizon LG Voyager with titanium trim.  They say it's gonna be available tomorrow from VZW via phone and Web, though it may not show up in retail outlets for a bit longer.  What they - and I - don't know is if Titanium + Visual Voicemail = Voyager Refresh, or if there's actually a new, newer Voyager 2 in the works as has been rumored.

I can tell you three things here:

  1. The only way Verizon is going to release the current Voyager in a new color and a "New Voyager" is if that new Voyager is very different from the original.  Think EnV2 vs EnV and then some.  While VZW certainly doesn't shy away from loading their lineup with a ton of handsets at any given time, it really wouldn't make sense to confuse consumers by adding a new color to their flagship model only to trump it with a slightly revamped version of the same phone.
  2. Whatever happens, we'll get the new Voyager(s) and tell you all about them pronto.  Promise.
  3. Voyager debuted at CTIA Wireless last September.  I'd bet money (if such a thing were legal where I live) that LG and Verizon hit San Francisco next month with something shiny and new in tow to show off at this year's show.

Thursday, October 02, 2008This phone is driving me crazy. I had the first one for less then a week before I had to exchange it for a new one because it kept turning off. After recieving the second phone for less then 24 hours I found that the speaker phone was broken. And now after less than 12 hours the new phone that I recieved is turning off just like the first one. Back to the store again! I would not say this phone is worth all these issues.

Friday, September 26, 2008My girlfriend and I got the titanium 2 days ago. I found it an amazing phone. The UI was great, navigating was a sinch. The touch screen took some getting used to. I found that i opened it up for mostly everything i needed to do. but good phone besides the fact that tonight it crashed on me and i have to get a new one tomorrow. the side affects of mass production. my girlfriends is still rocking and rolling. i just have to decide if i want to stick with the voyager or give the dare a shot.

Thursday, September 18, 2008I got the new Voyager Titanium right after it was released so I've had it several weeks now. It's an amazing phone. I absolutely love it. My wife has the new Dare (and really likes it) but I love the option of using the touch screen on the voyager or the keyboard. We got the premium package of V Cast, internet (love the html browser on the voyager), navigator and mobile e-mail. I love it all, esp. the mobile e-mail. This phone is a keeper!!

Thursday, September 11, 2008i have to say the lg voyager titanium is amazing! not much different than the original but its a nice upgrade. i had the enV2 for about 2 weeks and i didnt like it so i went back to VZ and they said its not to late to get another phone. It just so happened that the titanium jst came in a day or so before and they were in stock. im so happy i got it. way better than the enV2.

Thursday, September 11, 2008I just purchased the Voyager in Titanium yesterday it should arrive Tomorrow or Saturday... I am really excited! I also purchased protectant screen covers and a pink silicone cover for the Voyager. So if you want the Voyager Titanium in another color all you have to do is purchase some slip covers... Some people say that the silicone covers can be a hassel, so we'll see. I will be back to let you know if my purchase was a good one or a bad one :)

Mailbag: Noah answers some of your Q's with a few of his A's

It's been a little while and the mailbag is overflowing!  Let's get right to it: John asks:Hey Noah, I am thinking of getting a new phone on the Verizon network. Currently I have a Samsung Alias. I want to get a phone that has stellar messaging capabilities, like good email support for mutliple accounts, twitter, IM (AIM), and facebook with good web browsing, also. I am thinking of getting a Blackberry Curve, what else do you suggest?...

Refresh: VZW launches Voyager Titanium

Verizon Wireless today launched the LG Voyager Titanium, a modest refresh to their flagship VCAST Messaging device.  The new Voyager features support for VZW's new Visual Voicemail service and VCAST Music with Rhapsody for compatibility with Rhapsody's over the air music store.  The new Voyager otherwise seems to be the same as the original, featuring a clamshell design with an exterior touchscreen and interior secondary display and...

iPhone Effect: Verizon Launches Visual Voicemail Service

Verizon Wireless today announced the availability of Visual Voicemail to users of their LG Voyager handset.  The move comes, oh, 15 months (give or take) after AT&T launched the first visual vm service in America on the Apple iPhone. Timing aside, this is a good thing - cell phones may have been invented to help people contact one another when away from home, but we all know Caller ID was the true revolutionary advancement in telecom...

Noah Answers Your Questions - The Samsung Glyde or the LG Voyager?

Q. Which device do you like better Noah, the Samsung Glyde or the LG Voyager? A.  Voyager is bigger to carry around but much easier to use.  If you want a small, cool phone that you'll use mainly only for calls and texting, Glyde will work and I love how small it is.  But if you plan to also use the Web and the VCAST music and video features, you might find Glyde frustrating - I know I did.  Check 'em out in person, as I...

LG Dare or LG Voyager considering your uses...

personally, i have the LG VX 8700 right now, and i am about to get the Dare, but anyways, i would not get the LG VX8700 because it can lag sometimes and (from what i have experienced) just close/shutdown by itself.  Considering your uses, i would go with the LG Voyager for its full QWERTY keyboard, or the LG Dare because of the virtual QWERTY keyboard, and the unique/cool features.hope this helps...

Verizon LG Voyager tips from Josh

First of all, I have a LG voyager from Verizon and found out many cool tricks: If hold the volume control on the left down, it will turn off all sounds (puts the phone in silent mode); vice versa if you hold the volume button up. If you hold the clear button in the middle (between the send and end keys on the front), you can record a new sound instead of having to go to the menu and get it now.  however, if you just click the clear...

Thanks to the folks at Nokia, I've got a re-loan of the E71 smartphone, one of my favorite releases of 2008.  A Symbian S60 device, the E71 has an Email client as part of its pre-loaded Messaging application, and while it can't handle HTML mail and isn't the prettiest thing to look at, it basically works just fine. However, Nokia just announced the live Beta of their new Nokia Email service for select devices - including the E71.  So I...

Two years later and ThinkGeeks bluetooth handset still uncontested

    Best bluetooth design ever?

I've searched far and wide over the last two years, but found no bluetooth device that can stand up to ThinkGeek's revolutionary design from '06. In the shadow of its sinewy curves and the glare of its glistening semi-reflective surface, all competitors appear painfully unimaginative and inadequate. Can this subtle beauty ever be matched... or dare I say, toppled? Undeniably, a classic. I'm also a fan of their BluAlert Bluetooth Bracelet. I...
