Touch Diamond video: Hang on, it's a comin'!
Apparently the home office has been getting a lot of impatient
questions about the full review Sprint Touch Diamond video I promised
when I did the unboxing vid a little while back. I really didn't mean
to keep you in the dark on this one, folks, so here's an update.
I
shot a bunch of footage on Tuesday and Wednesday but wasn't sure that I
was happy with it. No matter, for when I sat down to edit, the largest
of my footage files wouldn't download to my computer. So then earlier
today (just after the Nokia 5800 launch) I set up the camera to
re-shoot the T.D. review. And on the way from my card reader to the
camcorder I managed to break my memory card. Literally - the plastic
case around the chip cracked and I couldn't nudge, prod, or scotch tape
it back into working. Don't ask me how I did it; I'm still not sure. So
tonight when I get home I will look for another SD card in my
oh-so-organized home office. If I can't find one, I'll procure a new
one first thing tomorrow (Friday) morning and promptly break it in by
re-filming the Touch Diamond review. I will then edit, upload, and
publish the video. You will then watch it and think, "Oh, they really
do make good on their promises, even if they're a little slow
sometimes." But, hey, it's not like I haven't been trying all along. In
the meantime, here's a teaser: The Sprint Touch Diamond runs WM and
TouchFlo 3D like a champ, but it gets quite warm and I had a few
reception/call quality issues with it.

The HTC Touch Diamond smartphone runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional under a clever TouchFLO interface. Key features include adjustable text size, streaming video that supports youtube, WiFi, Type A-GPS that supports LBS, 4GB internal memory, and a 3.15 megapixel camera. Q.Hey Noah, Love the work that you do. I was just wondering if you heard any whispers when the Touch HD will be coming to the US and if so which carrier. From the stuff I've seen I love it but if the wait is too long (say over 6 months) I'll just settle for the Touch Pro. Thanks!
A. I'm amped up about the Touch HD, as well. So far there's no word - or even whispering - about a US carrier.
I know HTC is interested in bringing... After weeks of rumors, spy shots, and speculation Sprint announced today they will be adding a CDMA version of the HTC Touch Diamond and HTC Touch Pro to their fall handset lineup. The HTC Touch Diamond is scheduled to be available later this month with a price tag of $249.99 with a two-year contract and after a $100 mail in rebate. The HTC Touch Pro will be available at a Sprint store near you beginning October 19th... A thread on Sprint Users "confirms" release and pricing info for HTC's Touch Diamond and Touch Pro smartphones on Sprint. To be fair, the thread has images of device hotsheets, so this looks pretty legit. I just like putting words like "confirms" in quotes whenever I can.
Looks like we'll see the Touch Diamond by the middle of this month (that'd be September) at an on-contract/after rebate price of $249.99. Rumors are pointing... Engadget's got this graphic that's supposedly a slide from an internal Sprint presentation/update, and it details a September launch of the HTC Touch Diamond. The good? Touch Diamond on Sprint, duh. The bad? $299.99 on contract, after $100 rebate. $399.99 and two years out the door? Yikes. I've been testing the Touch Diamond, and it's a solid device and all, but that's crazy expensive given today's US... Sprint announced today they will offer the HTC Touch starting November 4th for $249 with a 2 year contract and $100 mail in rebate. Customers can expect the same long list of features as its GSM cousin. The Touch will be able to take full advantage of Sprints multimedia content including the music store, exclusive entertainment, TV and On-Demand programming.

I know these phones is just alike but 1 got a keyboard. im trying to decide on which one to get and if i wanna spend an extra 50 dollars for a qwerty. Will it be worth it? I was on the Sprint website and i compared both phones and the only difference was the Touch Pro has a memory card slot? Is this true? And is it true that only way to text on the PRO is using the qwerty? Hey, not really into the phone scene but i have just come up for a new phone and i was looking at the HTC touch diamond and the Imate 9502. Are there any phones like this that anyone could suggest? Should i wait for the new Htc's coming out soon (also im in australia so they will take longer to come this way)? or any comments or preference on these two phones? Also my price range is pretty high so anything around the same price should be ok.... Good News for the Sony Ericsson lovers because the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 Smartphone gets launch date.
