Verizon introduces four new phones for the holidays

Verizon Wireless today unveiled their much anticipated line up of new phones set to be available for purchase this holiday season. With more of a focus on the multimedia experience Verizon is now positioning itself nicely to compete with the “iPhones” of the world. Whether or not this move will attract new customers or simply hold on to the ones they currently have remains to be seen.

Leading the way are two new phones from LG the Voyager and Venus scheduled to be available before Thanksgiving. The Voyager features a large touch screen display along with a slide out keyboard to compliment its high speed internet access and full HTML web browser. The Venus sports dual front displays; like the Voyager display the lower touch screen features vibration feedback. Both phones share the same 2.0 megapixel camera an expandable memory card slot up to 8GB.

The Juke by Samsung scheduled for release on October 19 is not geared to the internet browsing / email checker every two minutes type, but rather a more practical and dare I say "fashion conscience" individual who wants to combine a dose of style with a dash of function.  With its 180 degree swivel display and 2GB of internal memory the Juke carves itself a nice little niche in todays ever changing market.

Rounding out the new line up is the all too familiar Blackberry Pearl 8130. Not much has changed from the original Pearl announced over a year ago, but never the less Verizon customers will now be able to get there hands on the first Pearl that supports high speed internet access (EV-DO).

Samsung Juke for Verizon Wireless

With the Samsung U470 being slated as the Juke, this has to be short for Jukebox since the device offers a 2GB music player and comes with stereo earphones and a USB cable right out of the box.
Refresh: VZW launches Voyager Titanium

Refresh: VZW launches Voyager Titanium

Verizon Wireless today launched the LG Voyager Titanium, a modest refresh to their flagship VCAST Messaging device.  The new Voyager features support for VZW's new Visual Voicemail service and VCAST Music with Rhapsody for compatibility with Rhapsody's over the air music store.  The new Voyager otherwise seems to be the same as the original, featuring a clamshell design with an exterior touchscreen and interior secondary display and...
Titanium: Is this the LG Voyager Refresh?

Titanium: Is this the LG Voyager Refresh?

Engadget Mobile's got a photo of the Verizon LG Voyager with titanium trim.  They say it's gonna be available tomorrow from VZW via phone and Web, though it may not show up in retail outlets for a bit longer.  What they - and I - don't know is if Titanium + Visual Voicemail = Voyager Refresh, or if there's actually a new, newer Voyager 2 in the works as has been rumored. I can tell you three things here:The only way Verizon is...
iPhone Effect: Verizon Launches Visual Voicemail Service

iPhone Effect: Verizon Launches Visual Voicemail Service

Verizon Wireless today announced the availability of Visual Voicemail to users of their LG Voyager handset.  The move comes, oh, 15 months (give or take) after AT&T launched the first visual vm service in America on the Apple iPhone. Timing aside, this is a good thing - cell phones may have been invented to help people contact one another when away from home, but we all know Caller ID was the true revolutionary advancement in telecom...

Summer Round-Up: LG Voyager - Verizon Wireless

I was thinking earlier about all of the new phones that have hit the market over the past several months and decided it was high time to do a little Summer Round-Up of what's out on the market now, in case you're looking to pick up a new cellie.  I'll try to throw in what I know about phones that might be coming soon in hopes of helping you avoid the dreaded buyer's remorse that comes when something newer and cooler gets released the day...

What's the Best Phone: Dare vs Voyager vs iPhone

yfz450lrd from YouTube asks: Would you say the dare is better than the iphone and the voyager? Thanks for your time, your reviews are awesome!Noah answers: Thanks for the email and the kind words - glad you like the reviews.I'm going to do a review comparing Dare to iPhone and Voyager.  It's hard to say which is "better" - it comes down to personal preferences and network coverage.  Dare and Voyager run on Verizon which in many...

Noah Answers Your Questions - The Samsung Glyde or the LG Voyager?

Q. Which device do you like better Noah, the Samsung Glyde or the LG Voyager? A.  Voyager is bigger to carry around but much easier to use.  If you want a small, cool phone that you'll use mainly only for calls and texting, Glyde will work and I love how small it is.  But if you plan to also use the Web and the VCAST music and video features, you might find Glyde frustrating - I know I did.  Check 'em out in person, as I...

Phone Wars: Why do (some) people hate the iPhone?

Why do people hate the iPhone?

I got this question today via Facebook and thought it warranted some thought ... and all that thought warranted a blog post.  So I ask you, as you read on, what do YOU think?  Why do some people just seem to hate the iPhone (and Apple) so much?  Noah, maybe you can answer this for me: Why is it when people praise the iPhone, they're viewed as either blind fanboys, or on the Cupertino payroll, and when people praise 'any' other...

Krave: VZW to sell Moto ZN4 touchscreen smartphone for $149

    Moto Z54 to VZW

Motorla's MING series of Linux-based, touchscreen smartphones have been pretty popular overseas but never really seen the light of day here in the US.  Sure, you could pick up an unlocked GSM MING via CompUSA or an importer, but without carrier backing most Americans had no idea that MING was a phone and not *just* a dynasty from their history books. Looks like Verizon Wireless is aiming to change all of that with the introduction of...

    Nokia 5800 launch

Nokia held a big shindig in London today where, as expected, they officially launched the XpressMusic 5800.  The 5800 is the first device to feature the S60 5th Edition operating system, which adds support for fingertip and stylus-based input and high-resolution displays.  As you might expect from that, the 5800 does in fact pack a high-res, touch-friendly screen: 3.2" of resistive touchscreen at 640 x 360 pixels. The 5800 also...
