VZW: Updates on Dare, Thunder, Blaze, and Visual VoicemailJust a few quick updates for you Verizon fans tired of all the Instinct this, iPhone that talk as of late ... LG Dare may
be available as soon as June 26th (next Thursday) via online sales.
July 3rd is the date still being kicked around for availability in
stores. No pricing info has surfaced yet ... just lots of wild
speculation and a $50 mail-in rebate form kicking around the Web.
There's also talk that, like the Samsung Flipshot, the Dare's 3.2MP
camera will have zoom but the zoom won't work at the highest
resolution. In other words, if you're taking a 2MP photo you can zoom
but if you're using the full 3.2MP setting you won't be able to zoom.
Hope that's not true. Engadget Mobile's got some dish on VZW's upcoming Visual Voicemail service. According to EM, Visual Voicemail will launch sometime in the next two months, cost an extra $1.99 per month, and be available on five devices initially. The devices? Well, this is where it gets interesting: There's the LG Chocolate 3 and RIM Thunder, which we knew about. There's also something called "Voyager (Refresh)," which likely means a firmware update to the LG Voyager, but could mean a brand new device (maybe ... but unlikely). And there's "Blaze (touchscreen)" and the Motorola Utopia (Vu30). The Vu30 is a PEBL-ish clamshell that didn't do
much for me when I peeped it over on PhoneArena, but that's just me.
PhoneArena uses the term "high end" in describing it, so you never know
what it might be like in hand and in person.
Blaze, on the other hand, sounds high-end all the way. It's said to be
an offshoot of the MOTO MING line of touchscreen smartphones, none of
which have been officially released in the US. The VZW Blaze would be
simplified - but hopefully not too dumbed-down - with VZW's menus, and
bolstered by full VCAST and VCAST TV support, amongst other goodies.

LG Dare for Verizon vs Samsung Instinct for Sprint: Who reigns supreme?Video: LG Dare ReviewLG's Dare for Verizon might well be the best camera phone currently available through a US carrier. He provided us with a quick (and we mean quick) mobile video review of the LG Dare.Noah Answers Your Questions - Comparing the LG Dare & Samsung InstinctQ. Hi, I saw your comparisons of the LG Dare and Samsung Instinct and I had some more questions about the two. I have some specific questions for the two phones that I'd like some answers to 1. Which touchscreen is better? Which is more responsive? When you're typing which screen works better? I've heard ppl vouch for both sides so I'd like a good extensive opinion from an actual reviewer. 2. Which browser is better? Because I've...Noah Answers Your Questions - LG Dare or iPhone?Q. Noah, I am a first time visitor to your sight, and I love it. I've been anxiously awaiting the launch of the new iPhone. I ended up ordering one from an AT&T store the weekend of the launch while also researching the LG Dare. I am currently a Verizon customer and now need to decide before picking up the iPhone if I should go with the LG Dare. It seems like GPS and phone are better, and with my credits I can get a Dare for $149. The...Summer Round-Up: LG Dare - Verizon WirelessPrevious Posts in this series: LG Voyager - VZW LG DareDare is the newest addition to Verizon's VCAST lineup and it's my personal favorite. A full touchscreen phone with a great camera and VCAST support, Dare is fun to use and highly customizable. With perhaps the second most responsive touchscreen on the market right now, Dare works well for everything from texting to music and videos to basic Web browsing. Throw in a...Good Times: Is the American Cell Phone Market Finally Maturing?Cell phone junkies - or anyone who's spent any time in Europe, Korea, or Japan - will tell you that the U.S. cell phone market lags almost hopelessly behind its global counterparts. The American market is tightly controlled by the network operators, and half of US phones run on a proprietary standard incompatible with most of the world's networks (CDMA, used by Verizon and Sprint), a combination that's long resulted in a lack of options...What's the Best Phone: Dare vs Voyager vs iPhoneyfz450lrd from YouTube asks: Would you say the dare is better than the iphone and the voyager? Thanks for your time, your reviews are awesome!Noah answers: Thanks for the email and the kind words - glad you like the reviews.I'm going to do a review comparing Dare to iPhone and Voyager. It's hard to say which is "better" - it comes down to personal preferences and network coverage. Dare and Voyager run on Verizon which in many...LG Dare: Photos from Noah while in the mountains of MontanaWhile we wait for Noah to return from vacation in Montana to complete his highly anticipated LG Dare unboxing video, he was able to send us some still photos of the device. With no cell service available we hope these photos can tie his fans over for the next couple of days! Stay tuned...DareFirst of all, STOP SAYING GET THE GLYDE! because the touch screen on that phone is so finiky and unresponsive! But i would get the Dare because it is on the amazing Verizon Network, and i like the all around look better than the Instinct. but then again it is a personal chioce. If you need a phone more for work (e-mail, calendar, etc.) then get the instinct, but if not, get the Dare.Hope this helps...Re: LG Dare or Samsung Instinctdont get either! GET THE GLYDE!!!!!!Absolutely Love LG Dare BUT...Lg Dare is the best phone I've ever used, in spite of it's quirky touchscreen and just ok browser...Learning to control the touch screen is still fun and the browser is adequate enough to not get in the way of my absolutely loving this phone, the way it looks, feels and performs. BUT...LG is noted by many Verizon customers as not always being able to send out voice signals adequately in many areas, resulting in no one being able to hear...Re: The LG Dare, awsome phone. Watch out for scratches!I have had it for a week and it is the best phone I have ever had. I am still getting used to the keyboard but I love it so far. The battery life is awesome. I love the camera and I have really used that a ton. I also have a lot of my music on it and It compares to my iPod that I sold. I dont miss it at all. This is an awesome phone and I would for sure buy it all over again. Its worth the money...Re: The LG Dare, awsome phone. Watch out for scratches!Well, I couldn't wait anymore.... I went and purchased an LG Dare. Understanding that this is my first day with this phone..... I absolutley love it!![:D]Re: The LG Dare, awsome phone. Watch out for scratches!I'm in the process of upgrading with Verizon, I initially upgraded to a Voyager, it's an awesome phone, however when attempting to scroll through my contacts on the front touch pad .... Let's just say, it wasn't happening. So I returned it and I'm wondering about the Dare. Got a question for you... Is there a lot of glare on the touch screen, when you use the phone outside? This will be my first none clamshell cell phone and I guess...The LG Dare, awsome phone. Watch out for scratches!I just recently got the LG Dare. This phone is amazing, the best one i have had for verizon so far! I spent alot of money on this phone so i wanted to keep it protected from scratches, dings, knicks, all stuff like that. I have heard about this stuff called Phantomskinz, who had got it on his iphone. I decided i wanted to try this stuff out on my Dare. So i orderd it online and installed it myself. It looks really good, clear, fits like a glove....Re: LG Dare or Samsung InstinctPersonally, i would go for the LG Dare. Hands Down. The camera isn't a big deal, but that is just another thing that makes it better. The screen might be a bit smaller, but the is really crisp and clear on the Dare. I don't like the Instinct as much because it has a kind of metalic look to it. If i weren't in Canada, i would buy the Dare!!!LG Dare or Samsung InstinctI like both of these phones from the reviews on this site. Is either a clear cut better phone then the other? The only advantage I have seen is the better camera on the Dare, but the camera is not that important to me. I have to pick one of the two......which would you pick and why? [H] |
