Since we can’t actively cover every news article that breaks (as much as we would love to), PhoneDog compiles various announcements and press releases that have been published throughout the week and places them in one easy to read article.  Enjoy!

Android device coming to Sprint by the end of 2009
At Fortune's Brainstorm: Tech event in Pasadena on Friday, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse admitted that he was glad that the company held out for the second version of Google's operating system, claiming that "the reviews say now it's ready for prime time.  It wasn't when it first came out."  Hesse confirmed that Sprint will offer an Android device by the end of 2009.  Via CNET

Sony Ericsson accepting submissions to PlayNow Arena
App stores are the way of the future, and Sony Ericsson is officially accepting submissions for their upcoming app store, dubbed PlayNow Arena.  At present, the company is inviting developers for Java ME and Symbian, which will offer access to over 200 million Sony Ericsson devices.  As a part of the company's strategy, expansion to other platforms will come later in the year.

fyi the mytouch is the water down US version of the hero. that's why t-mo is already making the mytouch v.2. due to come out next year.. now this phone might be in the hero UK design, or the mytouch US design with all the hero's features. i'm going with the latter. Ps. check out the posted comments by noah on the mytouch v.2 which came out two days ago if you have a hard time understanding me.

the hero will not go to sprint because the design of the phone was made for orange uk, which is t-mo us. you really think t-mo is just going to hand over their flagship phone to any carrier? the android will come to sprint sometime in the future but it will be a different phone all together.

fyi t-mobile has already said they would not carry the hero. Plus they just came out with the mytouch so why would they want another android phone to be realeased.

yes orange uk is basically the same as tmo usa b/c when i went to europe with tmobile usa it showed i had orange service.

But then again orange uk and tmobile uk are both in the uk (lol) either means 2x for tmobile or 2x not tmobile o.o

I would REALLY like it if they released the Hero on Sprint. My Instinct really needs a refresh.

I don't see why not, the hero was slated to come out around the same time dan hesse projected a android phone to come out on sprint. att could bid for it but the hero would only cause problems with the partnership of the iphone and att. Verizon would be a bad move because of the possibility of the phone being stripped down in performance or verizon requiring their VZW app store. Sprint makes sense now with the announcement and also to keep sprint alive post palm pre.

well the olny thing is that at&t should keep the iphone, cause t-mo wont accecpt it, or should go to sprint, but what i was looking at is this: Srpint: Palm OS phones, AT&T: iphone, T-Mobile: Android, Verzion: best htc's. but t-mo would be best cause of the costomer service
