The SDK allows developers to "create a host of unique multi-media entertainment and content for the Xperia™ X1... [which] brings a totally new experience to mobile phone users by introducing nine easy-to-use, interactive panels which sit on the touch screen interface of the phone," in the words of the official SE press release.
by Noah Kravitz, Senior Editor, Consumer Products and Services The X1, which is still on track for a late 2008 release, is a Windows Mobile smartphone that continues the recent trend of layering a custom UI atop the standard WinMo install. In X1's case, that UI is based around the aforementioned panels - widget-like mini programs accessible directly from the device's home screen. X1 will feature a 3" WVGA (800 x 480) touchsreen designed for finger navigation, and Sony Ericsson has been hyping the combination of panels and the touch screen as the X1's means to deliver a powerful but easy-to-use consumer experience. Not for U.S.I was hoping to hear some new news from Sony Ericsson here at CTIA WITE regarding the forthcoming Xperia X1 smartphone. First comes Sony CEO (Sir) Howard Stringer's recent comments to Reuters about the future of his company's joint venture with cell phone maker Ericsson. "We have to work together again as we did two years ago. Or the joint venture will have to find its own solution," Stringer said. Ouch. That translates to "Shape up or ship out, Ericsson," so far as I can tell. Then came word...Re: HTC Touch HD or Sony Ericsson XPERIA-X1I would say that, if the only reason you're thinking about the X1 is for the keyboard....but, you think you can get used to a software keyboard, the Touch HD is a beast !I find the soft keyboard on the Touch HD quiet usable...even in portrait mode...I'd go as far as to say that the soft keyboard on the Touch HD imo, is the the better than any other WinMo device I have come across. (emphasis on WinMo)Re: Re: HTC Touch HD or Sony Ericsson XPERIA-X1wow wow wow here. Lets think for a minute. Yeah its a good phone if your on ATT, but I don't think its worth $800. If you really need a good touch phone with a keyboard, get yourself a Fuze. Its going to save you a solid $500 in the process. Plus, the phone is a bit laggy and there aren't that many panels even available yet. I still say hold on before you do anything rash.Re: HTC Touch HD or Sony Ericsson XPERIA-X1first of all it depends on which network your on. if your on att then with x1a you can get 3 g which is a huge plus. but if ur on tmobile then there really is no difference here as edge is what youll get on both. Xperia is nice, very sturdy, very well built ! HTC HD has the amazing screen but not actual keyboard. Im actually thinking of getting the X1a myself. I say go for it.Re: HTC Touch HD or Sony Ericsson XPERIA-X1Touch HD isn't coming Stateside, and the X1a (American X1) is coming to bestbuy for an insane 800 smackeroonies. PLZZ HELP!!Htc touch pro or sony ericsson xperia x1!?!?! SUCH a hard decisionThis is driving me crazy as it is hard for me to choose which is better but, one is a size of a break, while xperia may have a terrible qwerty key board. Its just so hard to decide but i want peoples opinion before i choose.htc touch probut go wit the htc touch pro over the Xperia because i believe that the touch pro is a hotter phoneHtc Touch ProThe touch Pro jus is a better phone, i actually got to try it, but I can't say it's Sprints best phone because the Instinct phone wit the improved web browser is hot too, especially wit the speed !htc touch pro!yeah i think u should go wit the touch pro, i mean both of them has keyboards and both hot, but the htc is better and the thing about it bein' too "bulky" is dumb! It's is very comfortable to useHard choice between HTC Touch Pro OR Sony Ericsson Xperia X1?!I'm having a hard time choosing and want peoples opinion on which one is better because I have a free choice to choose one of these and really need to pick the perfect one for me.
