Currently available with Alltel Wireless, Noah got his hands on the LG Glimmer at CTIA last week. The first touchscreen to be a part of the Alltel line-up, the Glimmer is a solid slider device with haptic feedback, media player, micro USB port, and an easy to read menu system from LG that helps you navigate thru all that Alltel has to offer.

Okay, that headline might be just a wee bit misleading. Alltel did add a record number of customers and did lose a boatload of money last quarter, but their revenues were actually up 12% as compared to the year before. But they went private last year and apparently that costs lots of money — some $653 million worth of merger-related costs, apparently.
I was never any good at economics, but the deal seems to be this: Alltel added a record 1 million plus customers during the...
Even though Alltel insists their My Circle plans are the way to go, they've given in and joined the other major US carriers in announcing an unlimited calling plan. The National Freedom Unlimited plan gets you all the minutes you can use for $99.99/month, while $79.99/mo. gets you 1400 unlimited minutes plus unlimited nights, weekends, and mobile-to-mobile calling plus 10 My Circle numbers (unlimited calls to those ten wireless or landline numbers).
If you don't plan on doing any...
As reported a few weeks ago, Alltel will launch the LG Glimmer handset on March 13. Glimmer is a sliderphone very reminiscent of the LG Shine, but the addition of a touchscreen, making it a very sexy and very innovative device, at least on paper.
Glimmer features a 2MP camera, integrated GPS, and a media player that supports a wide variety of audio and video file formats and packs 128MB of memory for media and gaming support. The phone will be packaged with a 3.5mm stereo...

A poster over at Howard Forums seems to have the scoop on a very hot looking new LG handset that may be an Alltel exclusive set to launch in mid-March. The Glimmer looks like a Shine with a touchscreen - it's a slider phone that goes one better than the LG Venus for VZW by adding a full touchscreen instead of Venus' menus-only touch sensitive area on the lower portion of the display.
The images of Glimmer's press release look pretty legit (links below), and the phone itself looks...

Pros: None over any other cellular companyCons: Plans and phones are more expensive. In my opinion practices are unethical and very anti customer oriented.Summary: I bought a phone which was still under warranty when it broke. We went to the Alltel office and they informed me that we would receive a replacement phone in the mail which we did. After receiving the replacement phone we went back to the Alltel office to have it activated. The replacement phone did not work either. We returned to the Alltel office and they again told us we would receive a replacement phone in the mail which we did. After receiving this phone we again returned to the Alltel office to have the new replacement phone activated. At this time we shipped both non working phones in the same box back to Alltel. They received the package by their own admission. The next thing I know I am being charged $599.99 for a used phone and $49.50 in taxes for a total of $649.49 for, and I repeat a used phone. I contacted Alltel and they said they only received one phone. I explained to them if they got one phone they got both phones as they were shipped in the same box. They said I should have sent them in seperate boxes. It messes up their system to send in one box. I have spoken with them 4 times about this situation. In the meantime they have shut off my service for a phone in which they have received and I do not owe for. Not to mention my phone was shut off 15 days into my billing cycle but yet they want to to pay for the whole month when they shut off the service because of their own stupidity and ineffective business practices. In effect breaking our contract. Yeahh for me. I have been a customer for 11 years with a phone bill of over 200.00 per month and this is how I was treated. Please use another cellular company to avoid this type of ordeal that I have experienced with Alltel.

Pros: The only pro is the price of the plans and the my circle where you can call 10 people of your choice for free.Cons: The cons are the fact that you have to pay full price for your phone if ur phone breaks. My friends use verizon and tmobile and although they didnt get completely free phones, they didnt have to pay retail on them. Another BIG CON is the fact that if you get any smart phone like a blackberry, you have to get a blackberry plan which costs 45 dollars a month. I learned this the hard way when I broke my phone and got a blackberry phone, they started charging me 45 dollars a month. I called them andSummary: The cons are the fact that you have to pay full price for your phone if ur phone breaks. So yeah, if u want cheap service without an all round carrier go for alltel, or else dont waste ur money behind it.

Pros: I don't have any prosCons: Everybody fall al over you until you have a problemSummary: I have been a customer for over 13 years. No problems. I upgraded last year and all of a sudden I cannot get signals where I could always get them before. I tried over and over to get some solution to this problem and encountered the rudest group of people I have ever met. Not one was willing to even try until my 6' 2" husband went in and threatened them. They had been verbally abusive to me on several occasions. When my contract is up, I will never use Altell again

Pros: at times, reception can be goodCons: impossible to get out of contract, website is clumsy and not updated well, high priced plansSummary: Do not use Alltel wireless and avoid their predatory business practices at all costs. Unlike many major carriers, they do not allow you to get out of your contract if you move to an area with no Alltel service, nor do they even attempt to work with you. Their solution to my problem was to "just ride out the rest of your contract even if you never use the phone." Why pay for something that you aren't going to use? The reason for this is so that they continue to make money off of you. Deal with any other company first before going to Alltel, please!

Summary: My daughter was shocked by her Motoroloa E815 phone. She did not have it plugged into a phone charger, she doesn't have one for her car.
I went to replace the phone at Alltel. I have paid insurance on this phone. The attendant at the store checked for water damage and there was none. They made me call the insurance co. for approval. They approved.
The Alltel store, by company policy, would not sell me a different phone. They said they have the E815 in stock so therefore that is the one I would have to take!!!!
I contacted Motorola and they replaced the phone with a different model. They are looking at the old phone to see what caused the problem.
MOTOROLA IS FIRST CLASS!!!!
