Which wireless carrier do you use, and why?

Polls: Which wireless carrier do you use, and why?

A few days ago, I posted a simple inquiry on my Twitter feed regarding carrier preferences.  My original question: "Which carrier do you use?"  To my surprise, not only did I receive a score of responses from many users about their carrier of choice, but as an added treat, many sent me comments detailing why they chose one company over another.  Inspired by the great conversation we had on Twitter, I bring my inquiry to everyone...
Alltel launches Samsung Freeform

Alltel launches Samsung Freeform

Despite what you may think, Alltel is still operating various markets that were divested as a result of the Verizon buyout.  One would think that the carrier would resort to launching boring devices, but no - they're going down in style.  Landing on the same day as the Motorola CLIQ announcement, the Samsung Freeform is now available from Alltel. 2.2-inch QCIF display QWERTY keyboard Stereo Bluetooth Music player Offers microSD card...
BlackBerry Tour lands on Alltel

BlackBerry Tour lands on Alltel

Not to be left out by its larger counterparts, divested Alltel customers can now purchase the BlackBerry Tour 9630 for $149.99 after a $100.00 mail-in rebate and a new one-year service agreement.  There's nothing groundbreaking in the Alltel version of the device versus the other versions of the Tour, but it does pack a full QWERTY keyboard, high-resolution display, 3.2-megapixel camera, microSD card slot, and SIM card slot for...
LG Tritan lands on Alltel

LG Tritan lands on Alltel

First it was the adoption of a one-year contract option (while keeping prices the same, mind you), and now it's new devices - this time, from LG.  The LG Tritan offers a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 3 megapixel camera, EV-DO Rev. A, GPS, a touchscreen and a "full" browser (we're unsure as to whether that means HTML or if it's just some catchy Alltel marketing speak).Unfortunately, it's only available in 91 markets thanks to Verizon's purchase...

Alltel drops two-year contracts, keeps phone pricing the same

Though it only applies in the 91 markets that Verizon Wireless is required to divest as a condition of purchasing Alltel, the company has decided to shatter the idea of the industry-standard two-year agreement, opting instead for a shorter one-year term for its new subscribers.  Typically, one-year agreements come with lofty phone prices, but not in this example - in a rather generous move, Alltel has decided to keep the same two-year...

Verizon asks for more time to finish divesting Alltel markets

Though Verizon Wireless' official acquisition of Alltel Wireless closed on January 9th, the carrier had until May 9th to spin off the markets agreed to be divested as a part of the deal.  Like anything in corporate-land, the task has proved to be a challenge for Big Red, as they're asking the FCC for more time to complete the transaction - 60 days, to be exact.  The new date would push the required completion date to July 8. ...

And so it begins...Alltel starts migration into select Verizon locations

And so it begins....As I walked past a nearby Alltel Wireless store today, I happened to notice that the store was completely closed.  "Odd," I thought, after walking by yesterday to the sight of hustle and bustle within the tiny building.  On the front door, a bold sign answered my question:"This Alltel Wireless location is closed - please visit us at our new location inside of Verizon Wireless."The message went on to list the address...

Alltel Wireless announces the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230

Love it or hate it, the first BlackBerry flip phone is on its way to Alltel Wireless.  Though it's certainly not a Bold in regards to features and specifications, the carrier's first-time BlackBerry users and those seeking a good deal will find the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 to be a good fit.  The device is priced at $79.99 after a 70 mail-in rebate, and will launch in retail stores, shopalltel.com, and via telesales across all 91...
