Alltel's lies

By: Brent Loehr on Sunday, December 28, 2008
From Omaha NE (United States)
Experience: 8 Years
Pros: recently: None. Two years ago I had excellent customer service and never dropped a call

Cons: False information, terrible customer service, lack of resolution ability, lack of product knowledge

Summary: Recently, my wife's service through qwest ended so we decided to add her to my service at Alltel. We went through a kiosk at the mall and we were looking at upgrading to smart phones. When asking about our options, the representative told us the Moto-Q had an excellent battery life and with the plan we were signing up for we would Both have unlimited Text,Data plan, and internet. I opted for the curve and my wife went with the Moto-Q. This is when all the problems started. It took me almost 7 mo to get the rebates back. Every time I spoke with them they would give me a different excuse: you didn't submit the forms- then when I explained that they had already processed my wifes rebate & both rebates were submitted together in the same envelope with all the required documentation, they told me I submitted the wrong forms. After going back and forth for almost two mo. they told me they would just give it to me because I'd been with them for almost 5 years, of course never admitting they were in error for not processing the rebate to begin with.

After having the Moto-Q we've realized that we were mislead with this phone as well. The battery dies after a full charge in about 3-4 hours with minimal use. We were lied to about our service.

We were told that we would have unlimited text, data, and internet for Both phones. However, my wife's internet has not been working for almost 3 months now. When she first inquired at the Kiosk where we got the phones from, she was told someone within the company had disconnected the service but they couldn't tell her why. She was instructed to call Alltel which she did, and the gentleman she spoke with there told her he didn't know why it was shut off either but that he would have it turned back on. Today, we contacted them yet again because her internet is still not working and we were told that our plan didn't cover internet usage on both phones and we would need to pay an additional $20 a month to gain her access to the internet. This is rediculous because we were told we would have unlimited internet when we signed up for the plan which is why we opted for the smart phones to begin with. This would be comparable to purchasing internet through your cable company, paying the additional fees every month, just to find out after you've paid the fees that your internet has been shut off because your plan that you purchased doesn't cover the internet!!

I was a loyal alltel customer for over 8 years now but am sadly dissappointed in there customer service and mis-information. Buyer Be Ware doesn't quite cover it anymore. They refuse to do anything to resolve the issues we are having and rather than try to help, they want us to pay more! Do not go through Alltel, they will mislead you in every aspect while purchasing their products then refuse to take responsiblity for their mistakes. They had the nerve to tell us it was our fault for buying the products and services from the Kios
