ALLTEL Wireless user review

1.3

Buyer beware!

By: Chris Lumsargis on Wednesday, July 18, 2007
From Del Norte CO (United States)
Experience: 11 Months
Pros: Good plans for families
Prices on plans are competitive
Large service area

Cons: Does not honor their end of contract.
Service area does not mean that they provide service in that area.
Company lacks flexibility in meeting consumer needs.

Summary: Eleven months ago we signed a two year contract with Alltel. Their website and local office stated there was service in our area. A month later service began to degrade. After multiple calls, emails and trips to the local Alltel store, Alltel admitted that service in our area is poor and there was nothing they could do. The technician stated that Alltel would likely release us from the contract. The person from the "Retention Department" stated that it was against Alltel's policy to do such things. She stated that they are not responsible for their service and, after the first fifteen days of service, any service issues are the customer's problem.
