Apple News
A new version of Google Talk is now available for the iPhone and iPod Touch browsers to let users not only communicate via Gmail but also keep in touch with quick bits via Talk.
Users need to use Safari on iPhone to get to Google Talk. When you navigate away from the page on your web browser, status is set to unavailable, and the session restarts when you return. So, it’s not as integrated as a downloadable app, but it’ll do for a quick fix.
You can select from a list of the people you... Take this one with a grain of salt, but iPhone Atlas (who I hadn't heard of before now) has "received corroborated word that an AT&T employee memo lists MMS ... as a feature of the iPhone 3G." To iPhone Atlas' credit, they say to take their report with a grain of salt as well, so start shakin' ...
MMS isn't a new technology by any means, but the first-gen iPhone doesn't have it. Conventional wisdom says that Apple would just as soon have you use their Mobile Me online... Today, AT&T announced the pricing plans for this month’s arrival of the highly anticipated iPhone 3G.
iPhone 3G will be available for $199 for the 8GB model and $299 for the 16GB model. These prices require two-year contracts and are available to the following customers:
iPhone customers who purchased before July 11
Customers activating a new line with AT&T
Current AT&T customers who are eligible, at the time of purchase, for an upgrade discount
Existing AT&T... Things have been busy over in YouTube land lately, which is great. And while I can't read all of the comments on every video, once in awhile I scan through to see what people wish I'd done differently or would do next time in a video (seriously, have you ever tried reading YouTube comments on a regular basis?).Seems like comparison videos are popular, so I'll keep those coming. Seems like Instinct and iPhone are popular, as well, and of course there's the requisite fanbody-dom... Three hot touchscreen phones - which one's right for you? This is the loooong version of a head to head to head between Instinct, Vu, and iPhone. If you're not up for 15 in-depth minutes, check out the short version for the summary. Discovered at MacWorld 2008, is this the new iPhone air? It's paper-thin and light as a feather. Check out the features of what might (or might not) be the next big thing. There's a nice post from the other day on JK On the Run warning smartphone makers to "Wake up and smell the Applesauce." The gist of it is this: It doesn't matter whether or not Geeks find every feature they want in iPhone 3G, because it's so easy to use that people who have no idea what a smartphone is will be using it to surf the Web and check Email on the go. Nokia and Sony Ericsson can keep hardcore phone nerds excited with 8 megapixel cameras and dual-sliding form factors,... Apple may have disappointed some phone geeks by leaving a few badly wanted features off of the new iPhone 3G, but in typical Apple fashion they're looking past the specific desires of a few in order to set their sights squarely on luring more of the masses into the Cult of iPhone. Could Apple have added MMS messaging, stereo Bluetooth support, and a decent camera (with flash) to the new iPhone's redesign without sacrificing the grander scheme surrounding the App Store, enterprise... Looks like the monthly cost of using the new iPhone 3G on AT&T will go up a little more than I first thought. Not only is AT&T bumping the iPhone data plan price up from $20 to 30, but they're also going to charge for SMS messages on top of that. The original iPhone data plan bundled in 200 SMS for that $20/month; the new one offers no including messaging.
AT&T currently charges $5/mo for a 200 message add-on plan. Figuring the extra five bones into the... Lost in all of the excitement about the newer, cheaper iPhone 3G is this little nugget: AT&T is raising the cost of iPhone data plans from $20/month to $30/month for consumers (the plan price stays at $45/month for business users). Considering that you have to sign a two-year contract for voice and data to get iPhone 3G for $199 (8 GB) or $299 (16 GB), that new "lower" priced iPhone 3G will actually cost you more in the long run than the current "more expensive" iPhone (EDGE... Apple introduced the new iPhone 3G at the WWDC conference in San Francisco earlier today. Highlights of the new device include:
LOWER PRICE: $199 (8GB Black model) / $299 (16GB)
Available July 11 Worldwide
Available in Black and White
Available in 22 countries at launch, 70 countries by end of 2008
3G Data Support
A-GPS with live location tracking
Thinner at the edge with full plastic back, and solid metal buttons
Flush-mounted headphone jack (Hurrah!) and...
