iPhone watch: MMS support may be coming to iPhone 3G

iPhone watch: MMS support may be coming to iPhone 3G
Take this one with a grain of salt, but iPhone Atlas (who I hadn't heard of before  now) has "received corroborated word that an AT&T employee memo lists MMS ... as a feature of the iPhone 3G."  To iPhone Atlas' credit, they say to take their report with a grain of salt as well, so start shakin' ... MMS isn't a new technology by any means, but the first-gen iPhone doesn't have it.  Conventional wisdom says that Apple would just as soon have you use their Mobile Me online...

iPhone 3G: Apple vs the World

iPhone 3G: Apple vs the World
Apple may have disappointed some phone geeks by leaving a few badly wanted features off of the new iPhone 3G, but in typical Apple fashion they're looking past the specific desires of a few in order to set their sights squarely on luring more of the masses into the Cult of iPhone.  Could Apple have added MMS messaging, stereo Bluetooth support, and a decent camera (with flash) to the new iPhone's redesign without sacrificing the grander scheme surrounding the App Store, enterprise...

iPhone 3G: SMS Messages No Longer Included in iPhone Data Plan

iPhone 3G: SMS Messages No Longer Included in iPhone Data Plan
Looks like the monthly cost of using the new iPhone 3G on AT&T will go up a little more than I first thought.  Not only is AT&T bumping the iPhone data plan price up from $20 to 30, but they're also going to charge for SMS messages on top of that.  The original iPhone data plan bundled in 200 SMS for that $20/month; the new one offers no including messaging.  AT&T currently charges $5/mo for a 200 message add-on plan.  Figuring the extra five bones into the...

D'OH: "Cheaper" iPhone 3G is Actually $40 MORE than Original Model

DOH: Cheaper iPhone 3G is Actually $40 MORE than Original Model
Lost in all of the excitement about the newer, cheaper iPhone 3G is this little nugget: AT&T is raising the cost of iPhone data plans from $20/month to $30/month for consumers (the plan price stays at $45/month for business users).  Considering that you have to sign a two-year contract for voice and data to get iPhone 3G for $199 (8 GB) or $299 (16 GB), that new "lower" priced iPhone 3G will actually cost you more in the long run than the current "more expensive" iPhone (EDGE...

iPhone Watch : Steve Jobs WWDC Keynote

iPhone Watch : Steve Jobs WWDC Keynote
NOTE:  I'm updating this constantly, so keep refreshing every few minutes. Highlights (in reverse chronological order): iPhone 3G Announced!  Time for a new post ... Yup: $99/year.  Free 60 day trial.  Like a drug pusher: First one's free ... Sorry, that's not funny.  But yeah, it's kind of true. me.com looks really slick.  Could be huge.  But ... are they going to charge $100 for it like they did with .Mac?  They shouldn't.  They should...

iPhone Watch : Last Minute iPhone 3G Rumor Round-Up

iPhone Watch : Last Minute iPhone 3G Rumor Round-Up
Okay, let's all take a deep breath and go have a weekend before the madness kicks up a notch Monday morning.  But first, one last look at the iPhone 3G rumors.  If for some reason Apple CEO Steve Jobs doesn't unveil the new iPhone during his WWDC Keynote Address (10 am Pacific Time, Monday June 9), well, people will be upset, little girls will cry, and the entire tech blogosphere will look pretty stupid. That said, what am I expecting from the new iPhone?Rumor: 3G...

iPhone Watch : AT&T Employees Receving iPhone 2 Training? Monday Launch?

iPhone Watch : AT&T Employees Receving iPhone 2 Training? Monday Launch?
Fasten your seat belts, kids - the Summer of Cell is about to begin.  CrunchGear just got a tip that AT&T employees started receiving  training today on the new Apple iPhone 2, perhaps in preparation for a Monday launch. As you're all too painfully aware of by now, I'm sure, everybody and their moms are expecting Apple to take the wraps of a new iPhone (or two, perhaps) Monday morning at the WWDC Keynote.  A few weeks back, Gizmodo all but guaranteed that the new...
