Great Company, Great Customer Service

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: Angela M on Friday, March 21, 2008
From: Hoboken, NJ (United States)
Experience: 8 Years
Pros: Good customer service, willing to work with you and go out of their way to help, even throw in some extras to keep you happy. Phone gets great reception and very few dropped calls. I get a free phone every two years, my Motorola Razr was free.

Cons: None.

Summary: I love everything about AT&T, I have no complains at all. I have been with AT&T since before they became Cingular and now they are back to being AT&T again and customer service has always been GREAT -- they always answered my questions patiently and politely, resolved every problem (although my problems have been very few and far between). The phones are great, the reception is better than my friends who have Verizon and Sprint. I rarely get a dropped call, and I commute from New Jersey to New York every day, no problem with reception in the tunnel or anywhere else in the city. Even on my vacation in the Catskills where everyone else had no reception whatsoever (yes and that includes Verizon), I had no problems at all, in fact I was the only one using my cell phone. Needless to say, I will stay with AT&T for a very long time, and I even got my friends to switch. So far, none of them have any complaints either!

The worst company in history!

Overall Rating:
1.3 out of 5
By: julie livers on Tuesday, March 18, 2008
From: salt lake city, UT (United States)
Experience: 5 Years
Pros: none

Cons: customer service- or lack there of-

Summary: I have never worked with a company that has such horrendous customer service. Having been with them for 5 years means nothing- they would rather lose a customer then correct a problem with billing that they made. Scam artists.

Good Customer Service/Poor Reception now with ATT

Overall Rating:
2.3 out of 5
By: Liz Zodeiko on Wednesday, March 05, 2008
From: Willow Grove, PA (United States)
Experience: 8 Years
Pros: If willing to work with Customer Service, can get good deals; cool phones

Cons: Poor service; many dropped calls; if not willing to pay for top-of-the-line phones, cheaper phones are of poor quality

Summary: I have been with Cingular/ATT for over 8 years, and since ATT took over, I have VERY poor reception, many dropped calls, and shoddy placement of calls. Changing one's location as little of 3 feet would cause the phone to go from full bars to no bars. I do like their customer service as they will work with you and throw 'extra's' your way, if asking politely.

Online billing is accurate, and simple to pay online, though I haven't done anything complicated like change credit cards.

Overall, cool phones, decent plans, but when it comes to the essential reason to have a phone - to communicate - ATT makes this PAINFUL!

Loved Cingular Hate AT&T

Overall Rating:
1.3 out of 5
By: Maria B. on Wednesday, March 05, 2008
From: Mt. Clemens, MI (United States)
Experience: 5 Years
Pros: Nice phones

Cons: The worst customer service!!! Problems w/my bill every month

Summary: I loved cingular, never had a problem with my billing or dropping calls. The first next month ATT bought them I have problems every single month. I get $600-700 cell bills because they "accidentally" changed my plan. They shut my service off 4 times in the weeks that I was dealing with the problem. Everyone I talked to was rude, unable to help me and kept sending from dept. to dept. Once I spoke to 8 different people before resolving an issue. TERRIBLE!! Once my contract is up I am switching.

Don't go with ATT

Overall Rating:
1.3 out of 5
By: Susan Vice on Monday, March 03, 2008
From: Mc Calla, AL (United States)
Experience: 9 Years
Pros: There are NONE since A T & T bought out Cingular!!

Cons: They need to take off their commercial about "Fewest Dropped Calls"!! It's a lie! When they were Cingular, I rarely had an issue with them, and if something did arise, the Customer Service quickly went to work to help you resolve the problem! NOT SO WITH A T & T!! You will be re-routed through Dept. after Dept., sometimes even being transferred right back to a Dept. you've already spoken with numerous times in the same sitting!

Summary: They think that they are like "WAL-MART" & have the monopoly on the wireless industry. I predict that if they don't provide better Customer Service as well as quality cell. coverage, they will see a huge fall in their profits very soon!!

Six Years of dissappointment

By: Gary Cafego on Saturday, February 23, 2008
From: Sarasota, FL (United States)
Experience: 24 Days
Pros: Marginal Reception

Cons: Customer Service is terrible

Summary: Renewed 2yr contract for 2nd time for 2 phones & purchased V8 Razor and leather holster. Holster falls apart due to defect damaging phone and ATT says "we will happily replace holster/refund but new phone has physical damage, which they will not cover." Cancel my contract!"

Just say no!

Overall Rating:
1.3 out of 5
By: Jen Vachon on Sunday, February 10, 2008
From: Bradenton, FL (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: Got a great phone

Cons: Everything since being bought by AT&T.

Summary: Cingular was great, but since they have merged the service is terrible. The reception now is really bad, my phone will show full bars then I'll walk not even a foot away and the other end will go dead. As soon as you hang up there will be full service again. I've had calls dropped. Days where I can't make a phone call out and sometimes I will go for hours with no connection with the network at all!
Customer service, if you can even get ahold of them, is quick to blame all the network problems on your phone. But I guess if you wait long enough you'll have service (just hope there's no emergency going on). Thank goodness my contract is up soon!

Experience: 5 Years
Pros: they combine services; internet, message center, long distance and cell phone

Cons: everything else. their bills are confusing, they add additional charges not stated when you sign up; their customer service is horrible;

Summary: I've had to call every month about some problem with the billing or the service... I'm now looking for another service after many years of being too lazy. They're just the worst!

Once thought it was good, But no more

Overall Rating:
1 out of 5
By: Steven Brown on Saturday, January 05, 2008
From: Orland, IN (United States)
Experience: 21 Months
Pros: Coverage was pretty good and had no real problems until......

Cons: They restrict your whole service to no roaming because 1 phone of a 3 phone family plan roams 60 percent.

Summary: Took a new job a little over a year ago and they have a cell booster for their provider in the building. I make on the average 2 calls a night, but the signal goes out over the competitors tower because of the booster. My wife roams about 30 percent and my son 20 percent. My 1-3 calls put me at roaming over 50 pecent. Because I roam more than I am on their network even though it is because of the booster, the building and AT&T's poor provision of service(I can walk out the south side of the building and be off network, but walk out the north side and be on AT&T)The whole family has been restricted to no roaming in an unlimited roaming service plan!! What a Deal!! The real ugly thng is we only have 3 months and the 2 year contract ends you would think they would have just waited it out and then said no renewal. But business is business you know, and we were good when we were shoving cash into their pockets with the unused minutes being removed each month, but when they start to have to pay the competitor for using their tower for roaming, WATCH OUT!

Don't Choose AT&T

Overall Rating:
1.3 out of 5
By: Pat Reed on Saturday, January 05, 2008
From: Spokane, WA (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: Rollover

Cons: Everything else - especially Customer Service.

Summary: Read the reviews about the difficulty with AT&T customer service. It's true, you will have problems with the service, then you will spend a huge amount of time and effort trying to get any action from them, and then you will have to do it all over again when you have to call again, and again, and again... you get the idea. I have never had a worse experience with a wireless carrier.

The web site for making changes to your account is deceiving. I signed up for text messaging for my family plan, and it only applied the feature to one phone, not the others in the family plan. 1 month later, I have a $2000 bill for messaging based on the other phones in the plan not being included. Resolution of this issue is ongoing 3 months later (which had to go to some corporate level wrangling) and I still have to explain the whole thing over again to a brain dead rep when I call to ask why I am being threatened with collection.
