The new AT&T is NOT raising the bar!

Overall Rating:
1 out of 5
By: Diana Barrow on Friday, August 24, 2007
From: Atlanta, GA (United States)
Experience: 9 Years
Pros: NOTHING since Cingular has become "the new AT&T"!

Cons: Dropped calls, horrible customer service, dated phones, no service coverage.....

Summary: I have been with Cingular for NINE (9) years now, and I have never been more disappointed with their quality and services. I wish Cingular would still be Cingular instead of the new AT&T because before then, at least I had 4 or more bars and dropped calls were unheard of. Now, almost every call is dropped and I can't take advantage of my free night and weekend minutes because my phone does not work at my house. You would think I lived in a rural area. When you try and call a CS rep., they always ask "well did you power off your phone so it can receive its daily updates?" That can't be the problem everytime! If you're reading this and you aren't already an AT&T customer, please stay with you current provider or go with another carrier if you are getting a new phone.

AT&T/Cingular

Overall Rating:
1 out of 5
By: Andy Bynum on Monday, August 20, 2007
From: Henderson, TX (United States)
Experience: 1 Years
Pros: None, zero, Zilch

Cons: Absolutely pathetic phone and customer service

Summary: I have never had so many dropped calls or inability to make calls as I have with Cingular. You see the advertisements touting the fewest dropped calls which is the total opposite of the truth. Truth be known, there are no words to describe how bad the service is. I will be with Alltell by this weekend. I have heard enough promises about additional towers being constructed, etc., etc.

I want my Cingular service back - AT&T is awful!!

Overall Rating:
1 out of 5
By: Kim Maddalena on Saturday, August 11, 2007
From: Foster, RI (United States)
Experience: 4 Years
Pros: Absolutely none!!

Cons: Everything - the worst Customer Service. No one knows what they are talking about, make promises they don't keep, are rude, and refuse to address poor service issues - indicating that I am lying about the lack of service!

Summary: We have had Cingular for years with excellent service; however, on July 23 we virtually lost all service. Watching the bars on my phone is like watching a roller coaster. All customers in this area are experiencing this problem, but AT&T refuses to acknowledge the issue. Most calls made or received are dropped within 30 seconds. They have told me I have the best service available in the area, and should not be having any problems. A technician tried to call me and could not reach me because I had no service. When they finally got through, our call was dropped within 30 seconds; however, they refused to put through a service call stating that "the problem has already been fixed." They have also tried to blame the problem on our phones. All three phones on my account (all different models, all new within the last year - mine being 1 week old) have the exact same problem within an approximate 10 mile radius of my home. Anyone with AT&T service who lives in another area of RI and comes to Foster has the exact same problem as we do. AT&T has sent us "software updates" which have not made any difference. I have spent about 8 hours on the phone with the most imcompetent service reps I have ever dealt with. I've told my story over and over and over ... most reps don't even make a notation on the file. We have no land line, as our service was so great with Cingular it was unnecessary (no cable service in Foster, RI, so we utilize satellite for TV and internet). No other option at this point but to back out of our contract and switch to another carrier. We now have T-Mobile and are back to satisfactory service with no dropped calls. I've been reading all over the internet about this problem, which seems to be occuring all over the US with AT&T. Something needs to be done for customers like me who are being charged early withdrawal fees ($175) unfairly, because we are no longer being provided the service we originally had when initiating our contracts. I am very disappointed with the lack of cooperation and service from the new "AT&T" and would not recommend this company to anyone, especially in my area.

Much better before buyout

Overall Rating:
1.3 out of 5
By: Anne M on Tuesday, August 07, 2007
From: Birmingham, AL (United States)
Experience: 8 Years
Pros: Fair internet access

Cons: Everything else

Summary: I did not have any problems when I was a Cingular customer. Since the New AT&T came about, however, my whole family has experienced dropped calls (too many times to count), poor signal quality, and difficulty getting reception at all (even outside in a major metro area). We are all planning to switch carriers as soon as our various contracts with AT&T run out. On Cingular, I used my mobile phone exclusively. Since this merger, I've had to sign up for landline service (with Vonage, certainly NOT AT&T) because I have 1-2 bars maximum at my home and often have SOS service only. And this is in a suburb of a major city. Forget it if you're traveling. AT&T is losing a lot of formerly loyal customers because of their poor, poor quality.

Cingular has trained liars for customer service reps ! !

Overall Rating:
1 out of 5
By: Donna Luse on Saturday, August 04, 2007
From: Gilbert, AZ (United States)
Experience: 7 Days
Pros: Old AT&T was Great!

Cons: Terrible since!

Summary: The old AT&T was amazing. Since it became Cingular using their phones, life is bad. Everytime we call to complain about our phones not working in our area they make promises that they break. I have requested that they put my complaint and their promise in the customer service log. I always ask for their name and location. When I call back the log entry was not been made and no such person exists. They have made promises to refund money, send new nokia phones, let us out of the service early for free etc. All lies! Our family of four only expect that our phones can receive and make calls from our home. Our phones do not even ring the signal is so poor. Our messages show up a day later at times. This has been so frustrating and a terrible waste of money. We are done on September 28, 2007! Friends, family, neighbors with T-mobile can make calls and receive calls just fine in our home.

AT&T, can you say Deceptive Trade Practices!

Overall Rating:
1 out of 5
By: R Marie on Monday, July 30, 2007
From: Houston, TX (United States)
Experience: 15 Years
Pros: Done with AT&T

Cons: You name it. EVERYTHING.
Despise AT&T.

Summary: Had been a customer since it was Houston Cellular, almost 15 years! Cingular conned me into buying a GSM phone because it would be soooo much better and because my digital was supposedly outdated and then the problems began. Before, NEVER had a dropped call and always had a signal (even in the East Texas woods). Told same bull excuse...turn phone off and on. NOW with AT&T, not only do they blatantly deceive the public with their "fewer dropped calls" and "more bars in more places" crap; but it is downright deceptive and I would hope that the Federal Trade Commission would investigate. Since AT&T monopolized our telephone service, it has been nothing but problems and AT&T is so big that they could care a less. We live right smack in the middle of the city and it is a crap shoot on whether I will be able to make/receive a call in my house and if I do how long before it goes dead. And forget about trying to make a QUICK call while on the road because you will probably have to redial that call a dozen times before it actually connects and be quick about it!

Dropped Calls, Lost Rollover Minutes...not as advertised

Overall Rating:
1.7 out of 5
By: Teresa Bonnett on Wednesday, July 11, 2007
From: Shreveport, LA (United States)
Experience: 8 Years
Pros: Was best as Cingular

Cons: AT&T signal strenth awful!
Dropped calls
Deceiving plans (rollover)

Summary: I am like some others in these reviews...been using Cingular with Rollover and couldn't change my plan with my 2yr contract. So, my 2yrs was up and I went to change my familytalk plan (not really change it cause my plan didn't exist anymore (the FamilyTalk 600 is no longer available...its the FamilyTalk 550 now)...what do they tell me??? I lose my 3020 rolloever minutes and they can only give me 550! What??? Those were mine...and I didn't change my plan...they did. They don't have a FamilyTalk 600 anymore. Ridiculous! I'm through. Then, they advertise FREE phones on their website but want to charge me to upgrade mine. Okay...enough is enough. I'm looking for another service.

Not the best....but who is it today

Overall Rating:
1.3 out of 5
By: Bernardo Pohl on Saturday, July 07, 2007
From: Houston, TX (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: Best phones in the market, affordable plans

Cons: Everything else: poor reception, happy do nothing customer service, incompetent store reps

Summary: Everything was perfect with Cingular but everything is going downhill with AT&T, went from full bars with Cingular, even in the oldest bunker like building at Univ of Houston, to one bar IN THE OUTDOORS with AT&T. Go to store, and everything is solved by changing the SIMS card, no matter what is wrong with the phones, their answer is always to change that stupid card. That's how they solve evertyhing in the store. Called custormer service and they told to switch the phone on and off, because that is how the software updates itself. Pathetic....do this people really believe we don't know better? I guess I am sticking for now with ATT as they are the lesser of all the evils....no way I am going back to Nextel or Verizon.

AT& T sucks

Overall Rating:
1.3 out of 5
By: Lucille Ball on Sunday, June 24, 2007
From: Leesburg, VA (United States)
Experience: 3 Years
Pros: None really

Cons: Too many to list. My biggest frustration is the constant drops in calls.

Summary: I can never get a signal with my phone. It'll drop on me while I talk to my friends or family. Horrible services. The contract ends this month so that's why I'm doing some research to see about get a different cell phone provider. The only reason I've used them for so long was because I was under my mom's plan and didn't have to pay for anything.
