My original question: "Which carrier do you use?" To my surprise, not only did I receive a score of responses from many users about their carrier of choice, but as an added treat, many sent me comments detailing why they chose one company over another. Inspired by the great conversation we had on Twitter, I bring my inquiry to everyone... Carrier: CricketRetail Price: $159.99 or via ebayContract Price: $79.99Hot Features: 1.3MP camera, compact device with full QWERTY keyboard slide out It won't win any awards in the originality department, but the Samsung Messager II marks yet another entry into the text-centric dumbphone arena. Billed by its creator as "much cooler" than the original, the Messager II offers a 2-megapixel camera, sliding QWERTY keyboard, MP3 player, stereo Bluetooth, 3G, and up to four hours of talk time. It is available through MetroPCS and Cricket for $149 and $200, respectively. So, if... Ain't it cute? The wee Motorola QA30 Hint made its little way from regional carrier Alltel to two others: MetroPCS and Cricket. The portrait-sliding Hint — which measures just 3.23 by 2.43 inches (closed) — is teeny tiny. But somehow, the phone designers crammed in a full QWERTY keyboard and a large 2.5-inch QVGA display, as well as 2 MP camcorder/camera and 140MB of built-in memory storage with microSD expansion. I’ve heard some rumors about the... Despite questions as to the future of Motorola, today's announcement of the Evoke QA4 and the VE465 shows that the company remains committed to releasing new devices. Sporting quad-band CDMA, a 2.8-inch WQVGA touchscreen, 256MB of internal memory (with a microSD card slot for expansion), aGPS, stereo Bluetooth, and a popular design to boot, the Evoke QA4 is projected to launch with Cricket in the second quarter. On the other hand, the... Coming in at $179.99, the handset is the most expensive in the company's current lineup, however... Pros: it's kinda cheap when they're not ripping you off Cons: customer service, signal, amenities, billing system, kiosks, employees, website, 1800 customer service number, the whole company... Summary: as you can see there is not one kind review on this page...Get cricket if you want to feel like plucking out your leg hairs one by one Pros: Convincing ad blitz in the Chicago area Cons: poor to nonexistent service anywhere! Summary: Bought into the ads for Cricket. Thought I would give them a try. OMG! I use my phone for business and rarely get service. The phone doesn't ring because there isn't service and thus I don't even know I got a call or a voice mail because the phone goes into power save mode and basically shuts down! I am the emergency contact number for my grand children and my daughter is going to have to change to a differnet contact person because I hardly ever get service! It is the biggest scam I have ever seen except for Bernie Madoff! The phone is a cheap piece of .... I guess you get what you pay for! I should know better. 1 out of 2 people found this review helpful Pros: Coverage is weak at best Cons: No support and the fees associated with the billing are loaded on. Autopay doesn't work then they billl you to reconnect. Ripoff Summary: There is no web site support and phone support? Well good luck. The store personnel don't know how to work out billing problems so you get fee after fee. I signed up for autopay and after 3 months it still didn't work andI was billed each month for reconnection and payment fees. It doubled my bill. Beware of this outfit 1 out of 2 people found this review helpful Pros: No contracts. Unlimited plans are mostly straight-forward and are easy to compare, but you must read ALL the fine-print. They're the least-expensive service out there by about $3.00, so I would recommend trying Einstein PCS or another no-contract company first! Cons: *The crapiest coverage of any provider I've ever used... even in the city of Madison, the capitol of Wisconsin, you didn't get reception 0.5 miles from the mall. Nevermind that there are towers EVERYWHERE. Ask people in your area how their coverage is, I'm sure they'll tell you it's spotty as best. *Painfully slow web browsing *Not a good selection of phones, they're all using decade-old technology *Broadband service is a JOKE. We literally live 2 blocks away from a tower Summary: I now have US Cellular, who is expensive and requires contracts, but I ALWAYS have reception- anywhere- even out in the boonies or at our cabin in the middle of nowhere. I could not STAND Cricket! They have ridiculous counter fees and charges they try to impose for simple services. People don't deserve to be treated like this just because they have bad credit or don't want to sign a lengthy contract with a provider. The only good this was getting rid of Cricket! R-E-S-P-E-C-T, my foot!!!!!!! 1 out of 2 people found this review helpful Pros: Cheap, cheap, cheap. Cons: Billing a little weak. Summary: Cricket is a great value. I pay $40 a month for unlimited voice, text, caller ID, and voice mail. I have been robbed by almost every cell carrier out there with equipment failures, contracts, bad billing, ETC. This is simple. One price. I called about an initial billing issue (auto pay failed) and she was pleasant and resolved issue within a minute. I got through on the first try with no waiting. I love my phone, it's solidly built and does exactly what I need, voice and text. No coverage issues at all. 3 out of 4 people found this review helpful All Cricket user reviewsAs fara s i know, att has nothing to do with cricket.Up here in Niagara falls, NY, cricket service is OK but ATT does better. I guess its the area. I'm more than likely going to get cricket when I get a phone (gotta get a job first, hehe) though crickets phones are pretty and by preety i mean ugly, ummmm doesnt att own cricket wireless? so i go for att theyy havve wayy better phone signals and phones! well i dont know about crickets signal but for sure i go for att I'm pretty sure I've heard that AT&T owns Cricket. I wonder how Cricket gets a cell signal out there? It has to be thtough one of the big 4 providers. Cricket did not spend 70 Billion dollars erecting cell sites all over Chicago. Its impossible to infrastructure at this point. So whatever you think you're getting with Cricket is nothing other than a signal through AT&T towers which is nothing different... I'm currently a AT&T subscriber and have been for 5 years, however for the past 4 months I have been using Cricket Wireless ($35.00 Unlimited Plan) with the Samsung Messager in Austin TX. The service in Austin TX (Central TX) for Cricket clearly outbeats AT&T for having no dropped calls, no congestation, no calls going straight to voice mail (missed calls) and excellent phone coverage. AT&T since September 08 has had...
