Cricket Service & Phones

Overall Rating:
4.7 out of 5
By: Barry Bingham on Monday, March 03, 2008
From: Pittsburgh, PA (United States)
Experience: 6 Years
Pros: You never have to worry about your bill, unless you don't pay your bills on time... then there are late fees. You can talk and text all you want and whenever you want. Very simple and "to the point" cell phone provider. A lot of very nice phones to choose from. No contracts is the best! Very inexpensive for unlimited minutes!!

Cons: Customer service number is difficult to deal with. Some of the phones have issues and if you don't take care of your phone, chances are... you'll have to buy a new phone or pay for another through insurance if you have it. Since they don't have contracts, they are limited with what can be exchanged through manufacturers warranty. Insurance also sometimes isn't worth it, but if you calculate what you spend on phones AND service in a year time... it's ALWAYS cheaper than what you would spend with

Summary: Words to the wise: It's not expensive at all... so I recommend doing your best to pay your bill on time or setting up auto bill pay so that it's never late. Their billing system isn't the greatest and sometimes bills can be confusing if you pay late all the time. Although not as big of a company as some others, Cricket is very dedicated to providing great service and making sure their customers are satisfied. I found that you will get treated how you treat the employees. If you are honest and treat them with respect, most employees will do what they can for you. If you go in demanding things and expect them to do something they can't, don't expect anything to come out of it but a headache. Remember, they are limited to what they can do because of the fact they have no contracts and unlimited service. If you are honest and friendly, most employees will do whatever they can for you. Keep in mind, even though you may have to buy a new phone once a year or so... you are still saving a lot of money and stress compared to most companies.

BUYER BEWARE!!!

Overall Rating:
1.3 out of 5
By: Jackie Harris on Friday, February 15, 2008
From: Denver, CO (United States)
Experience: 1 Years
Pros: Cheap Rate Plans

Cons: Horrible customer service. The phones are of poor quality and they are expensive.

Summary: If you have service with Cricket, getting ahold of a rep on the phone is easy and they usually provide acceptional service.! Many people have turned off their phones and then two months later recieved a bill in an excess of $120 or more. Then when you try to call Cricket, because you are no longer a customer You cannot get through to a live person. In the meanwhile, they send out literature stating that if you come back they will wipe out your previous bill! LOL.

Deceptive Marketing

Overall Rating:
1 out of 5
By: Peter Jorgensen on Wednesday, February 06, 2008
From: Boise, ID (United States)
Experience: 6 Days
Pros: No long term contract.

Cons: Very poor customer service in person and on the phone.

Summary: Very rude customer service, both at the local Cricket store and on the phone. I was transferred several times, disconnected and the problems most likely were not solved because of underpaid customer service reps who spoke little to no English. It was a very bad experience and I would never recommend this to anyone. Even if this is a first choice because of so called low price plans I still took a loss in the pocket book. Look for something better because it may be worth the money you will not save with Cricket.

High Prices but overall good service

Overall Rating:
3 out of 5
By: Tommy Morris on Sunday, February 03, 2008
From: Nashville, TN (United States)
Experience: 3 Months
Pros: unlimited plus more unlimited.... great for people who dont want to watch the min.s they talk on the phone

Cons: small amounts of local coverage area, small choice of phones,

Summary: I use Cricket everyday and is great in the city I live in.. But it takes a long time to go over to roam once the phone leaves the local area. The rates are fair, and it is easy to pay my bill because I can pay it at my local gas station. The best thing I like is cricket is like a landline phone but is portable and you can call everywhere in the US for free

Phones are junk

Overall Rating:
1.7 out of 5
By: Donna M on Wednesday, December 19, 2007
From: Wichita, KS (United States)
Experience: 5 Years
Pros: Great for teenagers who want to text all the time. No call limit

Cons: Poor quality phones

Summary: Cricket gets you by your having to prepay. If (WHEN) the phone quits on you, you've lost your monthly payment, unless you want to buy yet ANOTHER phone.

All 4 of our kids have had Cricket phones, but the phones don't last. We only use them because of the unlimited calling. Our youngest child will be 18 in less than a year, and I'll never buy another Cricket phone or use their service. My husband and I both use Cingular (now AT&T). We've both had the same phone for several years. Our kids' phones didn't last a year, and it wasn't because they weren't careful with them.

Real good service

Overall Rating:
4 out of 5
By: Kevin Criswell on Wednesday, October 31, 2007
From: Clarksville, TN (United States)
Experience: 5 Years
Pros: Service is great, call quality is very good unlimited everything

Cons: Phones prepackaged for cricket are terrible quality

Summary: Cricket has turned out to be a great company after the rough spots their caller service is much better and call quality is way up. The phones you buy in the cricket stores are terible though, they are toned-down versions feel cheap and dont work well most of the time. There is a light at the end of that tunnel though, I buy Verison phones that I like then have them ported over to work on the cricket network. Since verizon orders high quality phones it takes out the only problem I have had yet with cricket produts It is worth your time to check it out if your in a service area. Also if you live in the nashville network area check out their Aircards for you laptop I'm using mine now to write this review speeds are comparable to DSL and setup is super simple worth checking it out.
