Black Friday, Pt. 2 - Best Buy offers Pre for $79.99, Chocolate Touch for free

Black Friday, Pt. 2 - Best Buy to offer Pre for $79.99, Chocolate Touch for free

The Black Friday deals continue, with Best Buy's doorbuster deals.  Opening at 5 AM, Best Buy plans to offer the Palm Pre for $79.99 and the LG Chocolate Touch for free out the door.  While speculation centers around retail locations stocking five and seven Pre and Chocolate Touch devices resectively, the aforementioned numbers refer to minimum stock, not maximum (see the pictures above).  Still, it's worth getting to the store...

Video: LG Chocolate Touch (Verizon) - Unboxing

Welcome Sydney to the PhoneDog team! Sydney gets her hands on the new LG Chocolate Touch for Verizon. Is the latest touchscreen music phone enough to compete in the age of smartphones? Let's unbox it and find out.
BlackBerry Curve 8520 and LG Shine II to land at AT&T

BlackBerry Curve 8520 and LG Shine II to land at AT&T

Like I always say, different strokes for different folks.  BlackBerry Bold 9700 doesn't tickle your fancy?  iPhone too cliche for you?  AT&T has you covered with two new device launches in the next few weeks. Sporting a 320x240 display, 512 MHz processor, 256 MB of memory, EDGE connectivity, an optical trackpad, Wi-Fi (simultaneous voice and data while using Wi-Fi - I like it), and a 2-megapixel camera, the BlackBerry Curve...
First Impressions: LG Chocolate Touch (Verizon)

First Impressions: LG Chocolate Touch (Verizon)

What I like: Touchscreen is responsive; 3.2-megapixel camera works well. What I don't like: Somewhat boring; not the BL40 that many were expecting; some browser frustrations. Introduction The LG Chocolate brand has become somewhat of an evolutionary phone line in the United States, morphing a bit as each year goes on.  From a slider phone, the device migrated to a clamshell form factor last year, and has finally rested in the touchscreen...
LG Glance Expert Review by Aaron

LG Glance in-depth review - LG Glance Expert Review by Aaron

Overview What's Good: Durable device with good call quality and strong battery life. What's Bad: No 3G; gold battery cover may be a bit of an overkill. Introduction What happened to candybar devices? We've seen twisting devices, sliding QWERTY keyboards, flip phones, and more, but the age-old bar phone seemed to fade into the sunset. Not so with the LG Glance, as the company has brought the form factor back, and breathed new life into it....
LG Chocolate Touch coming to Verizon in the next few weeks?

LG Chocolate Touch coming to Verizon in the next few weeks?

If the BlackBerry Storm 2, Curve 2, Motorola Droid, or HTC Droid Eris don't tickle your fancy, perhaps the LG Chocolate Touch will.  According to rumors, the device is slated to land in Verizon Wireless retail locations in the coming weeks as part of the carrier's holiday lineup.  Featuring a 3.2-megapixel camera, VZ Navigator and other V CAST services, and EVDO Rev. 0, the device could do well if it's positioned at the proper price...
LG’s Chocolate BL40 vid brings back sexy

Video: LG’s BL40 vid brings back sexy

I had a visceral reaction to this video, which might as well be called “chicks ‘n clicks.”  (Granted, my reaction is probably different from the male contingent’s in our viewing audience. Yes, the ladies are super sexy. Can we talk about the phone now?) This slick, fashion-forward promo shows off a device that we here in the U.S. can only dream about: The BL40, the fourth handset of LG’s Black Label series. It...
LG LX290

LG LX290 in-depth review - Aaron's LG LX290 Expert Review

Overview What's Good: Build quality; fantastic reception; battery life is respectable. What's Bad: No EVDO; picture quality is poor; font size may be too small for some. Introduction Despite the seemingly endless talk about smartphones, there's still a market for regular, reliable cell phones. Quite frankly, we doubt that grandma (most, at least), the ten year old, and those using it as a backup device want or need a fully equipped PDA. That...
First Impressions: LG LX290 (Sprint)

First Impressions: LG LX290 (Sprint)

It may not be the most exciting phone to have launched this season, but hey, smartphones aren't for everyone.  To those that enjoy using a regular, no frills phone, the LG LX290 is for you.  Despite the lack of 3G, it offers Bluetooth, e-mail, and a 1.3-megapixel camera.  From a design perspective, it should be mostly well-received, though the four shortcut buttons above the numeric keypad will be a love or hate thing. ...

More pictures of the LG VX8575 surface, still pretty boring

More pictures of the LG VX8575 surface, still pretty boring

Remember the rather boring (and blurry) pictures of Verizon's new LG "Chocolate Touch" VX8575 we showed you a few weeks ago?  More pictures were leaked today, and much to our chagrin, it's beginning to look more and more like Verizon is moving away from the BL40's new and improved design in favor of this.  According to PhoneArena, two initial VX8575 prototypes were created - one that looked similar to the BL40, and the one you see...
LG LX370

LG LX370 Silver in-depth review - LG LX370

In this day and age, it seems as if smartphones are the talk of the town. Everywhere you look, it seems like the pocket computers are dominating our society. With the media centering around the Apple iPhone, Palm Pre, BlackBerry Tour, and HTC Hero, it's easy to understand why regular phone launches rarely get the respect that they deserve. Yet, the LX370 is a strong performer in the mid-range category in which it serves. Featuring a sleek...
