I love it

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: Stephanie Grish on Wednesday, August 23, 2006
From: Mancelona, MI (United States)
Experience: 4 Years
Pros: works great during travel-few areas with little or no signal-

Cons: not the best signal if I go north especially near Mackinac

Summary: I love Nextel carrier. We actually use it as our only phone. No more landline. There are very few areas where we get little or no signal and the plans are great. I have a camera on my phone and have used it numerous times. The two way comes in handy especially for a quick question.

Nextel Service

Overall Rating:
2.7 out of 5
By: Anise Percle on Wednesday, August 23, 2006
From: Lockport, LA (United States)
Experience: 5 Years
Pros: Nextel Direct Connect is the only service that works in the area in which my office is located. All other service providers don't have any kind of service at our location (Bayou Gauche, LA).

Cons: Nextel's phone service is just like all other providers when it comes to using your phone in this area, there is little to no service due to lack of towers in this area. There are times when you have full reception, but a few seconds later there is no reception at all.

Summary: Nextel would benefit from putting up a few towers in the South Louisiana region. Since Hurricanes Katrina & Rita the service has been somewhat testing to the patience. Their direct connect service usually works unless you are out in the local water ways, but the cellular service is horrible. There are way to many dead zones and interruptions in service.

Nextel better, Sprint to your Trash Can!

Overall Rating:
2 out of 5
By: Larry Castro on Tuesday, August 22, 2006
From: Los Angeles, CA (United States)
Experience: 11 Months
Pros: Nice phones, plenty of accessories and plans to meet your needs. Good customer support and the free roadside assistance has come in handy.

Cons: Phones drop calls quite a bit. Reception has static even though you have all bars. You change phone plan to better accomidate your needs and automatically get your contract renewed 2 years without being told.

Summary: The idea of Nextel's push button talk is great if it also made the regular consumer be completely satisfied with the service it offers. It leaves you wanting more. Plus the overages add up quick even when you change to a higher minute plan the taxes and other charges do not make it worth while.

Excellent plans and customer service

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: Lori Davis on Tuesday, August 22, 2006
From: Harrisburg, IL (United States)
Experience: 3 Years
Pros: Free incoming calls

Cons: none

Summary: I love my service with Nextel. The "free incoming calls" feature means I can always answer my phone. I don't have to worry about using up my minutes. I still had an issue with minute usage and the customer service rep gave me an even better deal. Call and negotiate!!

By: Joanie Shields on Tuesday, August 22, 2006
From: High Point, NC (United States)
Experience: 9 Months
Pros: Nextel has powerful reception and very few dropped calls.

Cons: Their prices are too high even with the minimum minutes purchased.

Summary: When my contract is up I will be looking for a less expensive carrier.

Nextel Service is not meeting my needs

Overall Rating:
1.7 out of 5
By: kristina scutt on Friday, August 18, 2006
From: beverly, NJ (United States)
Experience: 4 Years
Pros: Easy to pay online. I love the free incoming calls.

Cons: Hardly get reception anywhere. The monthly fee is ridiculously high.

Summary: I've had nextel now for several years, but this year has been the last straw. I always thought my phone didn't have service b/c it was an older model. However, last year I purchased a brand new i760 and guess what, I still can't make a call from inside my house and certain stores. So I'm paying extremely high prices for a phone that isn't reliable all the time. As soon as my contract expires, I'm dropping nextel.

Discontent Nextel Customer

Overall Rating:
1.3 out of 5
By: cyndi bustamante on Wednesday, August 16, 2006
From: sioux falls, SD (United States)
Experience: 1 Years
Pros: I dont know of any.

Cons: Lost Calls
No service in certain areas
I get my messages several days later

Summary: I hate this carrier- the service is bad. I get my text messages several days later. One actually was about 3 weeks old. I paid a lot of money for my plan! Since it Nextel, I can use the walkie- talkie feature, and that would be cool if you actually revceived service.

Pros: Full service every where, radio, service centers i930, and motorola has the best warranty.

Cons: none

Summary: radio is so useful and service is great. service centers will fix your phone, not like other phone carriers where they tell you to go buy a new phone.

Nextel Southeast Texas

Overall Rating:
3.7 out of 5
By: Richard Bernard on Saturday, August 05, 2006
From: Port Arthur, TX (United States)
Experience: 1 Years
Pros: Coverage getting better. Seems like they've added a few more towers.

Cons: Coverage is really bad in certain areas and sometimes will completely go out.

Summary: Even with the free talk feature of Nextel, I'd prefer my Verizon for dependability of service and coverage.
