It's like being in Vegas minus the unhealthy staying up too late, drinking too much, and losing money. Tour Samsung Mobile's CTIA booth with us.
We wade through all the "Best in Show" awards at the Samsung booth to check out the new Access. It's a phone that supports AT&T's new mobile TV service and will be available in May. And it let me see Eddie House pick up a flagrant foul. Awesome. Is this Sprint's iPhone killer? Noah goes hands-on with the new flagship Samsung Instinct phone at CTIA 2008 in Las Vegas. The Samsung Instinct is a new 3G touchscreen device with a custom UI that will be available at Sprint early this summer. The night before the big show at the Wynn Las Vegas, Noah goes hands-on with Samsung's 2008 European lineup at CTIA Showstoppers. They highlight the new F480 touchscreen device, and the Samsung Soul that offers a very high-tech menu system, 5.0 megapixel camera phone with flash and so much more. It's the $2,000 luxury musicphone - the Samsung / Bang & Olufsen Serenata. Hands on with the cellphone that doubles as a home entertainment system, as Noah continues his coverage from CES 2008 in Las Vegas.
One whole day earlier than I expected, Verizon Wireless dropped the Samsung Glyde upon us. This touchscreen and QWERTY-board handset packs a boatload of features into a relatively small Blue body that's a slightly shrunken down take on Sammy's F700 Ultra Smart.
Glyde gives you a 2.8" touchscreen with haptic feedback, side-sliding QWERTY, 2MP camera with auto-focus, flash, and video capture, GPS with VZ Navigator (location based services), and full HTML browser. Wait,... Virgin Mobile is expanding their portfolio to offer it's first Samsung device, a sleek looking slider called Slash. Not much information is out about the device yet, but it will feature voice activated calling, SMS, speakerphone, camera, MP3 ring tones, Bluetooth, and a wireless Wen browser.
Pricing and availability haven't been announced yet. I know, you're already in line to buy an enV2 at your local VZW store, and just killing time reading my blog until it's your turn at the register. I'm not saying you shouldn't pull the trigger on that purchase, but I am saying if you're on the fence between LG's new messaging handset and something a little more powerful, you might want to hold off another week or so.
A few outlets are reporting that VZW is all set to launch the Samsung Glyde U940 in May, and Engadget Mobile's going so... We were hoping for Verizon's take on the Samsung F700 - the "Glyde" - to surface at CTIA a few weeks ago. No such luck. But the QWERTY-packing smartphone does exist and is on tap for a VZW release sometime before too, too long, as evidenced by the latest set of spy shots to surface over on Engadget Mobile.
Looks like Glyde is still an F700 with a watered down camera and custom VZW menus in place of Samsung's Croix UI (at least they kept the camera flash, right?). I got a... CTIA 2008 in Las Vegas brought a lot of cool product introductions, including the highly touted Samsung Instinct, which is following in the footsteps of the Helio Ocean ($174) being touted as the "iPhone Killer."
But, I have to say that my favorite device of the entire show, was the Nokia Remade – a purely concept device that doesn't make a single call or even send texts. Announced at the end of last year, the Remade is a slight yellow and silver clamshell that is made entirely of recycled... Unlike the majority of my family and friends, my car did not come fully equipped with built in hands free Bluetooth compatibility to allow me to talk on my mobile while driving with my hands at 10 and 2. This really wasn't a problem for me until California passed the hands-free law, and now, I can't drive and talk with the phone up to my ear. I tried getting used to the Bluetooth headset and just couldn't do it. Although the Samsung WEP420 by Bang & Olufsen fits nicely and was... Taking top honors for consumer handsets was the Samsung Instinct followed by the Nokia N96. AT&T made an impact with their new TV devices, the LG Vu & Samsung Access.

Dear Patty:
Thanks for writing. Yours is a good, and often-asked question. The nice thing about choice is that there's an option for I'm sorry, but that Bang and Olufsen Samsung creation is ugly not to mention its too big to hold in your hand comfortably. Tell me you were joking about its looks...
My universal Samsung Bang Olufsen cell phone on display at CES 2008 The Samsung i760 is going to be available for purchase online on the 19th - if anybody really cares now that the Voyager's release is right around the corner
Verizon announced today the Samsung Gleam with its "live wallpaper" is available for purchase $149 with a two year contract. - Too pricey if you ask me :( Unfortunately there is no way to check your email without opening the phone (sideways) Is there anyway to check your email without having to flip the face open sideways?
