SUNCOM and the continuous slide to the bottom

By: Casey Behrendt on Sunday, September 30, 2007
From Charleston SC (United States)
Experience: 11 Years
Pros: Cheap Rate Plans

Cons: Reception, continous dropped calls, roaming in parts of downtown Charleston. Can't get your phone serviced if it breaks, SUNCOM leaves that up to you to take care. The worst Customer Service with little education and coporate training. Their Supervisors could also use some training on how to talk to people who keep them employeed

Summary: Been a member of SUNCOM for 11 years. Just recently cancelled my service b/c I couldn't handle the constant dropped calls, poor reception, and poor customer service. I changed my plan 3 months ago and knew I was under a new contract b/c of the rate plan change. However, they never told me that the termination fee was $200 per line. According to their "Information we want you to know" at the bottom of each plan, it stated, and I was told by the CS rep, that it would be $200. No where did I see or was told that it was "per line". Even after all the evidence, the Supervisor on the phone got rude and told me there wasn't anything to talk about and "that the information at the bottom of the webpage was purely for advertisement purposes". WHAT??? Typical SUNCOM.....false advertisement. Good Ridance! The best thing that could have happened was for T-Mobile to buy them. Of course, T-Mobile has no idea what a bunch of half-whit, rude Customer Service reps and outdated cell towers they just acquired. Hopefully, they will clean house once the deal is done. of course, don't expect any improvements to the service for some time. So buyer beware....do your home work and no matter what stay away from SUNCOM. Remember most of all, you get what you pay for and their cheap plans are appealing but the aggrevation that follows is simply not worth the $$ saved. The last 4 years, I have seen a company that went from at least on the outside appearing to care for it's customers to a company that can't even give you straight forward information. Then the customer is left picking up the pieces. Paying the money to get out the contract couldn't have been better.
