Be careful before signing!!

Overall Rating:
1 out of 5
By: Sarah D on Monday, January 28, 2008
From: No answer, MA (United States)
Experience: 3 Months
Pros: Phone was nice.

Cons: Rob you blind, customer service rude and unwilling to fix problems

Summary: After my plan ran up, I renewed my plan, but before doing so I told them that I would be moving to live in MA permanetly. I asked if I would get service and was told I would. However, after the 30 trial period was up, I was given a call telling me that I was not in a proper service area (though I had a nation wide plan). This was discovered only after I called and questioned why I was being charged almost double for my calls. And why I had been charged twice for my phone. The one stopped working after seven days (with no damgage done do it) and when I returned the phone for a new one, I was charged again on the bill. Despite the fact that the guy at the store said sometimes phones just stop working. I then recieved a call saying that since I was out of the service area (in MA) that my subscription would be terminated and I would be charged 150 dollars to do so. I called and spoke with Kathy out of the Waukesha Customer Service Center and was told that I had no options other than to pay the 150 dollars or return my phone (not to be reimbursed and having to pay shipping costs).

My service will be terminated in one month. I've been on the service for only 2 months and I spend 40 dollars on my phone. (Though they tried to charge me 80 dollars). Kathy, the woman I spoke to, was rude and unhelpful. She treatened me with legal action and stated that if I tried to press the matter, I would lose at my expense.

In short, stay away from US cellular at all costs or be victim to their rude customer service represenatives and their trickiery.

US Cellular will cost you!!!

Overall Rating:
1.7 out of 5
By: Tony G. on Friday, November 30, 2007
From: Dubuque, IA (United States)
Experience: 9 Months
Pros: Best customer service available UNTIL you purchase a plan and phone.

Cons: US Cellular will do everything possible to TAKE your money.

Summary: Short story is this, US Cellular only cares about your money. If they feel they are not getting enough of it they will find a way (any way) to bill you for more of it. Don't like it, tough. It was cheaper to pay the $150 to get out of my US Cellular "mafia" contract and go Verizon, although, I now have to watch my back as I'm told that they have a contract out on me for doing this. US Cellular has a legal license to steal your money and there is NOTHING you can do about it.

Best Wireless Carrier in America

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: Andrew LeRoy on Friday, November 30, 2007
From: Rochester, MN (United States)
Experience: 6 Months
Pros: - Awesome signal strength
- Zero dropped calls
- Great customer service
- Free incoming calls!
- Free incoming text messages!
- Reasonable prices

Cons: - None

Summary: I signed up with U.S. Cellular based on a friend's recommendation and I couldn't be more pleased. If you live in the midwest, don't even think of buying a GSM phone (AT&T/T-Mobile). CDMA is king out here but Verizon and Sprint have horrible customer service.

U.S. Cellular is the best wireless carrier in America. It's a fact!

General Service

Overall Rating:
1 out of 5
By: Millie Sifuna on Sunday, November 25, 2007
From: Milwaukee, WI (United States)
Experience: 7 Months
Pros: None so far.

Cons: Poor customer care.
Customer service not available 24/7

Summary: This carrier rips customers off so badly it hurts. It is the only carrier that has segmented regions of service. One is expected to pay the same amount for Mid-Western Region as national service. Now this National service can be a very expensive venture if you visit some states.
Try to complain to the poor PR customer reps, the only sentence they have been drilled to say is:
" Sorry, we are afraid we cannot give you back your credit even if it is our mistakes"

Very frustrating carrier...stay away from U.S Cellular any day anytime.

US Cellular not friendly

Overall Rating:
1 out of 5
By: Trish Kannegiesser on Monday, November 05, 2007
From: Green Bay, WI (United States)
Experience: 12 Months
Pros: UM THIS COULD TAKE A WHILE

Cons: They are rude. They do not offer any suggestions or explain their products or programs to you. They do not take anytime with you. When i had a problem the service rep was so rude i left crying. They insulted me and I will not go back.

Summary: Go to all companies and see how different each one treats you. If they are pleasent its worth it. Sprint is so much better and their customer service is a ten.

What A Relief It Is

Overall Rating:
4.3 out of 5
By: Joyce Hong on Wednesday, October 24, 2007
From: Roseburg, OR (United States)
Experience: 5 Months
Pros: Good family and national Plans, reception, customer service.

Cons: Average phones

Summary: After 2 and a half years with one of the big companies, it is such a pleasure to deal with US Cellular. There was no pressure at all in choosing a phone. In fact, when I looked at more expensive ones, the representative encouraged me to look at something less flashy because it met my needs better. I appreciated that. There have been a couple of small errors in billing but they were quick to correct and credit my account. What a change from my old company where they gave me incorrect information,over-charged me $600, argued with me and said they were just too busy to go over the bill with me. Sometimes I have to wait to get help. But there is someone there who welcomes me, takes my name, offers to get water or coffee and just makes me feel valued. The company has even invested in comfortable chairs for customers who have to wait. I love US Cellular.

Could be Number 1 but lately Customer Service keeps them back...

Overall Rating:
2.7 out of 5
By: ES Lanie on Saturday, September 29, 2007
From: New Bern, Eastern (United States)
Experience: 13 Years
Pros: Plan options are ok. Family Plan is so much better. Nationwide Family plan options is fine. Unlimited Free Incoming Calls from any carrier, land line or person and after 7PM Nights and Weekends feature cost around $14.00 which is fair.

Cons: Free phs r junk! Don't even last a year before problems.
Their promos always force u to sign up for EasyEdge which is junk and a scam!

Phone Selection is less than stellar & cost of phs pretty high. They just don't carry the latest & greatest.

Summary: Been with them since the bag ph era. Cust Serv was so Good until last 2-3 yrs. The attitude is don't give a darn wheither u talk to National or local offices. Don't know why?

Service repair is really good, local cust serv only 2 people in store can do their jobs to cust satisfaction.

Hate having to buy a new ph at contract rate because of faulty equip they sell or give as promo. They have ridicules 80% complete contract and u can buy ph at renewal discount.

But billing errors seem to be the norm now. Easy Edge is scam...take it for 90 day trial, employee put start & end dates so we could have rebate. It was to automatically cancel per their Cust Serv rep. Well it didn't, someone removed the end date. One day in cking bill, found the overcharge 4 months later ... won't credit back. And got two different excuses on how acct was changed. EASYEDGE is rip off and is always tagged to their promos.

I'm tired of hassling over phs not working, billing errors or if I go in store to pay my bill...I hear other peoples business with them. Their CS reps are rude and loud. I don't want to hear them tell their cust ur late, ph cancel, or other situations. I refuse to go in the stores and watch. Just a month ago I went to pick up ph for friend... watch the samething happening and another complaining about Easy Edge billing... so somethings never improve.

My DH doesn't want us to renew because of hassles we have experienced. So will move 3 phs in next few mos to new carrier and then we'll cancel his contract and pay the $150 fee to move it. Alltel or ATT here we come. It's sad to change vendors but what's a customer to do?

Wouldn't change carriers

Overall Rating:
4.3 out of 5
By: Cliff Phillips on Saturday, September 15, 2007
From: Cuba, IL (United States)
Experience: 5 Years
Pros: Good service and plans

Cons: None

Summary: We've had US Cellular for several years and added our kids phones on the family plan just last year. Free nights (after 7 p.m.) and weekends are great. Plus, they just turned on a new tower about six blocks from our home and service on calls is incredible.
