us cellular review

Overall Rating:
3.7 out of 5
By: garry holmquist on Saturday, September 23, 2006
From: indianhead park, IL (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: good coverage, fair prices

Cons: low number of phones to pick from

Summary: I have enjoyed the service I received from US Cellular. They have the largest coverage area for my needs. I have used several different other carriers in the past, but none of them has been able to meet my needs.

US goes all the way!

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: K Crowl on Monday, September 18, 2006
From: Elgin, IL (United States)
Experience: 6 Months
Pros: I use US Cell way up in WI, even used it in an unincorporated farmland area up there. I have always gotten reception. I have tried Cingular and Nextel with no luck.

Cons: Only flaw I have experienced is once in awhile during use of text messages, I lose service!!?

Summary: I have tried three cell phone services and besides plan costs, I extremely love US Cell. I get reception everywhere, and need it during my trips to WI- in the middle on nowhere- especially having two little kids.

US Cellular.....maybe NOT the way to go

Overall Rating:
2 out of 5
By: Betty Hesseltine on Wednesday, September 06, 2006
From: Des Moines, IA (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: Pros...well 2 years ago when we first went with US Cellular, reception etc was fantastic. I was able to talk perfect to hubby at work whether he was on first or second floor of building or out in the warehouse they have.

Cons: NOW...he cuts out, calls are dropped, he doesnt even have a record that I called (missed call etc) at times. We are becoming very unhappy. A friend also has the same carrier and she had no probs 2 years ago and also now when we chat and she is at home, I can barely make out what she is saying do to cutting out every other word.

Summary: I am not sure that US Cellular is caring about their customers anymore. Also, when I changed phones (and both were kyocera brand phones) - I was unable to transfer all my music sounds etc that I had paid for, what a waste.

US Cellular Iowa

Overall Rating:
2 out of 5
By: Eileen Main on Wednesday, September 06, 2006
From: Mystic, IA (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: They have pretty good plans and their customer service representatives are always polite.

Cons: Always losing signal or not receiving any at all. We live right near the tower too. I can only talk in one room of the house as any other place makes me lose the signal.

Summary: I would think that with today's technology that US cellular would have a much stronger signal to send out to us customers no matter where we are. I am very displeased with always losing my signal. If I lie down on my couch the signal goes away. That's rediculous.

Great Service

Overall Rating:
3.7 out of 5
By: Joyce Cochran on Tuesday, September 05, 2006
From: Candler, NC (United States)
Experience: 99 Days
Pros: My plan is affordable and I have good signal strength in most locations - that isn't always easy in the mountains.

Cons: Add on packages like text, pics, and Easy Edge quickly increase your monthly cost.

Summary: The overall quality and service is good; however, I would be much happier if US Cellular offered the add-ons as part of a regular package without such a huge increase in expense.

U. S. Celluar

Overall Rating:
2.7 out of 5
By: Tammy Byrd on Thursday, August 17, 2006
From: Maryville, TN (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: In coming calls are free.

Cons: Long distance (with long distance coverage) only works if you call from were you live. If I call from the area I live it is covered but if I am in say Alabama then it cost a lot. I also have free weekends and after 9 but that does not count either. Also I loose calls a lot.

Summary: When I first signed up for U S Celluar I was very pleased. Then after the 1st year something happened my phone bill was going over minutes and I was using it in the same way. I love the free incoming calls but that does not count if you are out of town. The service at the store is also really slow. Over all I like certain things but I am looking for a new service. If no one can give me free incoming calls then I will stay with U S Celluar.

Good service limited plans

Overall Rating:
3.7 out of 5
By: Rod on Tuesday, August 02, 2005
From: Des Moines, IA (United States)
Experience: 4 Years
Pros: Coverage everywhere. If no one else has coverage US Cell is certain to have it. Beats Verizon and all others in the midwest. Price is reasonable and they have options for 7pm nites and weekends.

Cons: Few Phone choices, no or very limited data transfer ability, not going to be cutting edge.

Summary: If you want your cell phone for what it is for. To make a call no matter where you are. Then I recommend US Cell. If you want the latest Bluetooth, Wi-Fi phone and email and IM ability go somewhere else.
