Great Coverage only goes so far...

Overall Rating:
2.3 out of 5
By: Saint Sepulveda on Tuesday, December 12, 2006
From: Orange, TX (United States)
Experience: 1 Years
Pros: Pretty good coverage for the area, only drop calls from my home location 90% of the time, so livable. Prices and packages they offer are inline with what others offer as well

Cons: TERRIBLE customer service!!! I signed up for service right after hurricane Rita and had to accept a sub standard phone, which died after several months. They wouldn't replace it, after purchasing another phone (at no discount!)they failed to give me insurance which I had asked for. Upon arriving home I noticed the error and they refused to add it on! After my year is up, I'll not pick up this service again.

Summary: Coverage is ok but customer service is substandard so it's a trade off to what matters most to you.

Summary: Verizon is a great company if they can start matching servicers provided by other local carriers.

Pros: They are well known. Stores to look at phones are all over.

Cons: Not all customer service people are fully trained. Can be a pain to get miss information. But you'd get that anywhere I guess.

Summary: It's okay. I've been with them for almost 10 years. Had a few issues but nothing that wasn't resolved

Verizon Wireless

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: David wright on Monday, November 27, 2006
From: Norwich, NY (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: I get service in places Verizon themselves told me I wouldn't. I have had maybe 2 dropped calls in the last year. My bill has always been accurate and I have never been overcharged. The CS people I have dealt with in the past have been very helpful.

Summary: I wouldn't hesitate to go with Verizon Wirelss. I have had friends complain about the service from Cingular, and the overcharging of Sprint. I can honestly say I have NEVER had a problem with Verizon Wireless

By: David Boczon on Monday, November 27, 2006
From: Greenville, SC (United States)
Experience: 5 Years
Pros: Great service and coverage. customer service is grat.

Cons: High plan prices and customer service could be little bit more organized

Summary: I have bee nwith this company for over 5 years. I love the service and any time I have issued they are resolved quickly. The only thing that I do not like is that they have several service centers so when you call them and inquire about a previous issue sometines they cant even get you to the tech you worked with previously.

By: Frank Berrios on Wednesday, November 08, 2006
From: Bismarck, ND (United States)
Experience: 11 Days
Pros: dropped calls are rare and coverage is extremely good in and around our area and close states.

Cons: Wish they would offer their long term customers more minutes and options.

Summary: over all the service has been fantastic and customer support is right on the mark.

Verizon, the only service for my placeI moved to

Overall Rating:
4.3 out of 5
By: Mark Gibson on Tuesday, November 07, 2006
From: Osgoog, IN (United States)
Experience: 18 Months
Pros: I moved to the town of Delaware, in Ripley county Indiana in 2005. My friends and family had several different cell phone carriers, the only one that would work at my home was Verizon. The service is good enough that I don't need to get a land line phone. Costs $39.95 per month, 500 talk minutes, unlimited nights and weekends, no roaming or long distance charges.

Cons: About $5.00 taxes per month.

Summary: Save your money, get Verizon, or at least check them out.

Not Much Service

Overall Rating:
2.3 out of 5
By: Louise Bullard on Wednesday, November 01, 2006
From: Valley Head, AL (United States)
Experience: 10 Years
Pros: It is okay in some ways.

Cons: When I am at home, there is no service. I would like to be able to use it, when I have to call long distance, from my home. When I am in some areas, that I go to, I don't have service, which in a lot of different areas.

Summary: I would like to see more coverage in the places that I go. Also, I would like to see a better plan that what I have. I am thinking of changing to another company that has came into town in the past few years. My sister has service with another company and she can use her cell phone at my house.

    LG Lotus (Sprint) - Photos

Hey, look what just came!  Thanks, Vanessa ;-)  Here are some photos of the black LG Lotus for Sprint.  The QWERTY board feels GREAT so far, as those bubbled chiclet-style keys make up for the relatively small size of the layout.  Sprint's new One Click UI is sort of cool and helpful and sort of overdone; I'll have to play with it more, but I hope it winds up being handier more often than it gets in the way.  And I'm...

Announcements: Motorola on 10/13, Nokia on 10/14

Heads-up, phone phans!  Nokia's planned an announcemnet for next Monday, October 13th - and has a viral campaign to hype things up in the meantime - and Motorola's announcing something new and "Clear" (as per their PR campaign) on Tuesday, October 14th.  My bets?  I have no idea what Nokia's gonna drop, but I bet MOTO unveils the Kraze smartphone for Verizon Wireless. Stay tuned for all of the juicy bits as we get them.  And...

WiMax: HTC drops super shiny WiMax phone on Russia

    HTC T8290

Might this be a peek into our near-term future?  I hope so.  You're looking at the HTC T8290, a shiny, sleek, badass looking piece of kit from HTC destined for Russia's Yota network. More on next HTC Android phone

First off, how cool is it that HTC dropped some significant cell phone news on the blogosphere via Twitter the other day?  I'm not saying Twitter itself is/isn't cool, but rather that it's neat to see a tech company innovate when it comes to communicating with the media.  Particularly so a tech company that uses the word "Innovation" in their marketing materials. Second, my post about the possibility of the HTC Touch HD coming to...

    Driving with both earbuds

For the past few weeks I've been considering writing a post about how California's law against driving while holding a cell phone has done pretty much nothing to curb the habit - at least in the Oakland/Berkeley area where I live and work.  Yesterday on my bike ride home from the office I figured out why I hadn't penned the post yet.  The law has done something, I think.  Sure, I still see at least three drivers with cellies in...

I went to my local T-Mobile store to check it out, and saw that they were pushing it as the hot new product. The service is $10 a month for unlimited calls, to anywhere in...
