Motivated by the creative comments from our last "Top Five" segment, the idea of creating a new top five list seemed quite appealing (okay, Noah's top five lists were a deciding factor too - always good to have friendly competition, right?). But why stop at a top five phone list? Instead, why not make it carrier based? Wireless devices can differ dramatically from carrier to carrier, so, realizing the importance of this; I decided to follow... Wireless devices can differ dramatically from carrier to carrier, so, realizing the importance of this; I decided to... Years ago, new phones would launch on the nation's largest wireless carriers, and the regional companies would be left in the dark until the phone was near oblivion. Today, companies like MetroPCS, Cricket, and U.S. Cellular receive phones almost as quickly as the larger carriers do (case in point: Cricket and the Motorola Evoke QA4). Found deep within the PhoneArena forums, rumor has it that a slew of new phones will be arriving on... Q. My phone plan is up in 2 weeks with Sprint. I'm really not sure which phone I should get I'm looking for a touchscreen phone with a keyboard. In your opinion what phone would be the best and it has to be from AT&T or Verizon. I thank you for taking the time to read this.
A. The HTC Touch Pro (Sprint/Verizon) or "Fuze" (AT&T) is a great touchscreen phone with a QWERTY board. It runs WindowsMobile, so it's a full... Pros: Windows Mobile 6.1, MS Office mobile apps, GPS, EV-DO Rev A, 3.2 MP camera, wireless network printing, strap holder, push email, video out, expansion slot (1 GB micro SD memory included), physical QWERTY keyboard, rounded edges, beautiful screen, TouchFlo 3D, swipe function and accelerometer (when they work).Cons: Bulky handset, sluggish operation (especially if a lot of programs are running), user has to press hard on the screen, no 3.5... Carrier: VerizonRetail Price:$539.99 or via ebayContract Price:$349.99 or via Let's TalkHot Feature: Touchscreen+ Full QWERTY
The HTC Touch Pro will run it's OS with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional while you work on the 2.8 inch VGA touch screen display. Equipped with a slide-out five-row QWERTY keyboard underneath, the Touch Pro also houses stereo Bluetooth technology, a 3.2 MP camera with autofocus, flash and video calling; as well as... Pros: Lots of functions. Built pretty sturdily. Both physical and screen works well. Cons: Clunky. No battery life, dies before completing a days work (7hrs if you work it is all I got). Insufficient memory. Needs to remove battery cover to use SD memory card. Likes to freeze up. Bluetooth works spotty. Slow response. Scrolling and gestures poor. Many functions but no programs to use them. Summary: Not for heavy use unless you have spare battery or you can keep it plugged in. Jack of all trades but definitely masters none well. If you don't need windows for your job don't get it. Not user friendly. Needs faster cpu and more memory. Not for everyday use. Display too small. Wouldn't buy again. Summary: It constantly freeze up. T-mo exchanged my phone twice and all three of them had the same problem. And the funny thing is t-mo tech support told me not to install any third-party software. Than what i am going to do with this powerful phone? Pros: Setting up and adding contacts easy to do, just plug into computer and it automatically updates your contacts and your calender which is also good since you have backup files on phone and computer. Sound quality is great i could listen to music and watch movies all day on it. This phone is really light weight and easy to carry around. Easily customizable and makes this literally your own phone. the screen itself is really durable. I was working and it got dropped straight on a nail and there is Cons: Phone case cracks easily but you can send the phone in for a new one. When i receive picture messages my phone will often freeze up and I will be forced to turn the phone off then back on to look at the file. The boot up process is really slow compared to most other phones I have owned but this one is also a lot more complicated which may add to the lag. Sometimes if I send a message and one is trying to come in at the same time the messaging feature will lock up so I can access anything else Summary: Overall I believe this phone is worthwhile getting if you can look past the minor flaws that this phone contains. I would recommend purchasing screen protectors and maybe looking for like a rubber sleeve that can go over the phone so the case doesn't crack so easily. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful Pros: Display, keyboard, 3G Cons: UMA (wifi calling support from Provider) Summary: certainly a good phone but missing UMA 0 out of 2 people found this review helpful Pros: Display is great! The apps are terrific and the ease of use. Love the keyboard and the touch screen is very receptive. Cons: The battery life. That is the only thing I do not like! They need a better battery for this device it is a power-user! Summary: I am happy with the phone. Hope they come up with a solution to the short battery life. 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful All HTC Touch Pro CDMA user reviewsno, since i really had no use for unlimited minutes i got Sero500 plan with Sprint and that fits my needs perfectly, unfortunatly i don't think Sprint offers it anymore but you can still get it if you find a person willing to transfer his/hers to you. But those are my needs and your needs my vary so first figure out what is it that you need exactly and then look for a plan Csowder and Pesokpesok. Thanks for the replies. The math adds up and you are right from that perspective. Thanks for clearing that up. I guess switching won't cross my mind again. Now did you base your calculations on Sprint's "Everything unlimited" plan pesokpesok? csowder80 hit it right on the head, here is the simple math(in my case-and i've done tons of research on all plans offered by big 4 before switching to Sprint):
Sprints TP2(and T-Mobile's i might add) is $350(after rebates) BUT i am saving $37 each and every month with Sprint's plan over Verizon's (and Verizon's plan has 100 less mins + my nights start at 6pm)
Verizon's TP2 looks a lot better at $199(after rebates) since thats $150 cheaper than... It sucks up front, but look at the monthly plans, Sprint has cheaper data plans, and if you want to have more than one line with data they are way cheaper than anybody else. What kind of sense does that make? Verizon is still holding their TP2 at $199. Either I wait or just jump over to Verizon.Being a happy Sprint customer for the past 4 years. It would suck having to switch carriers. The $199 price is only available for large business accounts with a ton of lines. Phonedog reported the price drop before they realized that it was for multi-line business accounts only. Im currently suscribed with Sprint at the moment and looking to upgrade to the TP2. I currently own a Samsung A900(old school) that has been very reliable for the past 4 years. Anyway back to business. I read an article here on Phonedog not to long ago about the pricing that Sprint had for this phone. It was previously listed as $450 with $100 mail in rebate with a two year contract. The article stated that Sprint was... I have the LG Spyder II 840 and i wouldnt want anything else. its a great phone and easy to use and its very responsive!! I highly recommend this phone! Just wanting another opinion about which I should get the LG Spyder II (840) or the HTC Touch Pro. i think a better dogfight would be the regular touch pro vs either of the touch pro 2's, reason being is many people who own a touch pro are wondering wether or not to spend the mula for the upgrade, being that it hasn't even been a year since its release in the usa most of em still have a year left on contract. the unlocked would own the tmobile one though
