Q.Hey Noah, Love the work that you do. I was just wondering if you heard any whispers when the Touch HD will be coming to the US and if so which carrier. From the stuff I've seen I love it but if the wait is too long (say over 6 months) I'll just settle for the Touch Pro. Thanks!
A. I'm amped up about the Touch HD, as well. So far there's no word - or even whispering - about a US carrier.
I know HTC is interested in bringing...
Two Top 5 lists today. This first one is the Top 5 handsets I've actually gotten my paws on in some final or close to final form. The second will be the Top 5 I haven't used, or have only groped semi-functional demos of. Clear enough, right? Good, let's get started:
1. Apple iPhone (AT&T) Problems abound with the new iPhone 3G, from lag during text entry to horrific voice and data service on AT&T in...
Has the AT&T launch of the BlackBerry Bold been pushed back to November? A data sheet BGR has gotten hold of says Yes. BGR himself says No. Hmm. Here's the latest info ... or purported info, anyway:A supposed AT&T product sheet dated September 17 lists the following launch dates for some new AT&T gear:BlackBerry Bold: November ETAHTC Fuze (Touch Pro): 10/23Samsung Mirage i907 (Omnia for the US): 10/21Nokia...
I'm going to be honest with you: It's 9:20 AM and I don't feel good.
Yesterday at this time I also didn't feel good. That was because I partied too much the night before. Happy hour with a few industry friends, then a press party, Nokia party, Verizon party ... these things add up. Today I don't feel good because I actually worked the show yesterday. And while I kept the partying to a healthy minimum last night and got...
This is gonna be quick, as we've actually got a date with HTC in 20 minutes, at which time we'll hopefully get a little cozier with the Touch Pro and report back to you (ahem, with video, I hope). But I got my mitts on a working Touch Pro in Microsoft's booth and I like it. A lot. I wish it was a little bit thinner, had a standard headphone jack built in, and somehow ran TouchFlo 3D without Windows Mobile underneath ... like...
Q. hey first off I would like to say awesome reviews on youtube. Ive been looking at three phones to buy; Nokia N95, samsung instinct and the lg keybo(env2). I am looking for a good internet phone with an awesome mp3 player and easy to text. Do u have any suggestions?
A. Thanks for the kind words - glad you like the reviews! Since you said "Easy to text" I have to ask if you like to use T9 or full QWERTY to text. If you like full...

Pros: Excellent package and options. Easy to use. Very user friendlyCons: Battery life only fair. Speaker phone not greatSummary: I am a Financial Director and was looking for a phone to use for work with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. This phone has proven to be a winner for me. I love the main screen which shows me calendar events, messages, and weather instantly. I also love the cube options with my favorite phone #'s with picture capability of the person I need to call. The camera is very good at 2 megpixal. If there is any down side to the phone that I have found it might be the speaker phone. I have used it twice in the office and it cut out and in with static. It could be the office building I am not sure but the ear piece had not static. Also the battery has not lasted to my expectations when the phone is used considerably during the day. It will still certainly last a full day or more but not what I was expecting. All in all I love this phone. I was debating between this and the Blackberry Curve. I stayed away from the Blackberry because of no Office, Messenger, Word, Excel, and Outlook. I highly recommend this phone to anyone. You will love it. The 400hz processor is adequate.

Pros: Amall, light weight, compact, LOUD ring, excellent cqll quality & soundCons: Only touch screen, hard to use when textingSummary: Seems to be a good phone. Call quality is amazing, ring tone can be VERY loud which I like. It is hard to get used to the touch only screen but I am trying to adjust. Windows on it is amazing and much easier to set uo than I expected (email). Phone is really user friendly which surprised me. Screen's brightness is adjustable you just have to look for it in settings. It is bright enough to be viewed outside. ringer is loud, call sound is loud and screen print is large. The phone is compact but slick - I would recommend a skin of some kind. So far (1 week) I say thumbs up!

Pros: Sound-Phone Very Clear Sound-Music Clear better with headset or bluetooth though Can edit "all" documents unlike blackberry Camera photo quality GREAT SMS-MMS Email easy to use It has everything you could possibly want-video capability too! Speaker/hands free plus so much more Cons: Haven't figured out how to sync with Vista yet! Need special download file Summary: Has everything anyone could ask for-from a Professional business person to a student . . . it's great !

With the G1, Linux takes its first starring role in the U.S. cellular handset market. For years, the OS has been the secret foundation of many a phone, gps device, ATM, in-flight movie player, web server, gadget, what have you. As far as much of the American public is concerned, Android represents the birth of Linux, if the collective "they" know that name at all.
Linux has been indispensable in the research of world-class universities, in...
Just a quick bit of fodder for the Android rumor mill. Tech Radar has an Interview with Microsoft's Scott Guthrie regarding the possibility of their Silverlight product, which competes directly with Adobe's Flash, showing up on Android-powered phones. Considering Apple's decision to accommodate neither on the iPhone, Silverlight for Android could really heat up the touch-screen game.
While certainly not an announcement of Microsoft's...
Hey kids, just a heads-up: If you like cell phones you're going to want to check in on the PhoneDog.com home page at 12:01 Eastern Time tonight/tomorrow ... that is, just after midnight as Wednesday turns into Thursday, October 16. For us West Coasters that's only 9PM!
I can't say anything specific, but there will be plenty of video, photos, and text for you to enjoy. And the subject matter is sure to be of interest if you're...

Finally you can all stop asking me when AT&T's gonna get them a QWERTY phone. Boom! Here's four for your SMS-fiending thumbs to drool over. I'm going to be lazy and just cut-and-paste from the press release:

This is an interesting turn of events, if it proves to be true. With all of the speculation about if and when Samsung would bring their Windows Mobile powerhouse, the Omnia, to AT&T, nobody stopped to think about a CDMA version of the device. Nobody, it seems, except Samsung and Verizon Wireless.
According to this rebate form posted on HowardForums and later found on Engadget Mobile, Big Red is prepping a VZW-branded Omnia to...
I'm "at" the Motorola Virtual Press Conference where they're launching the Krave ZN4 for Verizon. No surprise here, as this device was leaked far and wide. But it still sounds pretty interesting - it's a flip phone with a touchscreen and an "interactive flip." Apparently the clear plastic flip cover has touch controls so you can access frequently used functions without opening the device up.
Krave looks like it's going to...
