Kyocera Strobe, a worth while buy

Overall Rating:
3.5 out of 5
By: Lori Smith on Wednesday, February 07, 2007
From: St. Louis, MO (United States)
Experience: 2 Days
Pros: Very good voice quality, nice internal design, easy to use to text and picture message, good price, unique design

Cons: Not so great external design, a little thicker than I would prefer

Summary: I purchased this phone yesterday and I'm overall happy with the phone so far. Of the few calls I've made, all have had very good voice quality and the sound system is great.I really like the internal design but the quality and size of the screen on the front isn't quite as good as in the inside. Also, the width of the phone is a little bulky. Compared to the other phones in this price range, this phone is very high quality and reasonably priced. Also, I thought compared to other phones this one had a very unique design and I was looking for a phone that wasn't "ordinary."
I would recommend this phone but make sure you're not looking for a really sleek and stylish phone.

Pros: qwerty keyboard, cool design, vioce quality amazing, great features, durable, wont break like a weak razor. fun phone all-around!

Cons: outside keys a little small, but managable. browsing internet only good with select sites but still a lot to offer!

Summary: I got this phone a couple days ago and it is hard for me to put it down! it is perfect for texting. maybe too perfect! voice quality like a land line. picture quality good, and lots of space for lots of pics! easy to use and fun as well. i am so happy with this phone! it may not be the most sleek, but i wanted a bulky durable phone that wont break and i feel this phone will last much longer than any razor! overall i would give this phone a 4.5 out of 5

Kyocera Strobe K612B with SureWest

Overall Rating:
2.3 out of 5
By: Dana Hyatt on Sunday, December 03, 2006
From: Sacramento, CA (United States)
Experience: 2 Days
Pros: Phone looks good and has a full key pad.

Cons: I bought the Kyocera Strobe yesterday when the SureWest Sales Manager said it will work with other Bluetooth equipment. The Kyocera Strobe K612b is not Bluetooth compatible with other Bluethooth PC, PDA, and Phones. Some experts say the Bluethooth is not enabled. I didn't know until I got it home and tried to connect with my house full of Bluetooth toys.

Summary: I have written and called all support numbers but it looks like I'm now stuck with the phone and two(2) year contract.

Kyocera Strobe, a little gem with many gadgets

Overall Rating:
3.5 out of 5
By: Tony Fitzgerald on Thursday, November 02, 2006
From: Sausalito, CA (United States)
Experience: 2 Weeks
Pros: Excellent voice quality, qwerty keyboard, plenty of useful features.

Cons: Very small screens (in/out), tiny numeric keys, overall style.

Summary: I bought this phone just a few days ago. I needed a phone I could buy without committing into lenghty contracts so I paid for the phone in full. I did not want to spend for a Blackberry with all the bells and whistles. This Kyocera Strobe is not close to the design and features of a Blackberry but the price and the qwerty keyboard make it easy to get online with a phone without spending a fortune or committing to a contract.

The voice quality (compared to others within the same carrier) is amazing. Even with the speaker phone enabled, people thought I was talking from a landline, the voice quality is one of the best features of this phone. The qwerty keyboard is a gem althought the keys are quite small. It is best used with a pen to push the keys. But it makes it a lot easier when using this phone to browse the internet. The outside screen is way too small so for a sixty year old man in need of reading glasses this may not be the best phone available. Inside where the qwerty keyboard is, that screen is bigger but barely usable to surf the net. I would not have mind a bulkier phone sporting a bigger screen specially considering that surfing the net on this phone is still easy because of the easy to use interface. I could go to Google, eBay, check my Hotmail account and respond to emails, read the news, etc without a problem.
And again, the QWERTY keyboard of this phone although small, it is a blessing and perhaps its major feature. I could not find any cell phone under $200 having a built-in Qwerty keayboard.

Another small drawback of this phone is its design. It tends to look a bit more like a bulky toy rather than a stylish cell phone I can take to business meetings with pride. ;-)

In summary, considering the price, easy of use and features, I would give a solid 8 out of 10 points.

A nice piece of communication with a few minor drawbacks.
