LG Dare Cell Phone
 |
|
The LG Dare is the latest touchscreen bar phone offered by Verizon. Key features include a full media player, HTML browser, Email support, stereo Bluetooth, expandable memory card slot, 3.2 megapixel camera, handwriting recognition, adjustable Text Size for menus, messaging, and dialing, and turn by turn GPS. | What’s Good: Attractive, highly customizable UI with home screen shortcuts; Compact design with high-res touchscreen; HTML Web browser and Email app with EV-DO Rev A support; VCAST Music and Video Support; Rhapsody streaming music support; 3.2 MP camera with flash and VGA video capture; 3.5mm headphone jack; Accelerometer and proximity sensor
What’s Not Good: “Full HTML” Web browser is mildly disappointing; Touchscreen can take a bit of getting used to; No VCAST TV support
Bottom Line: Dare is the best multimedia phone Verizon currently offers and the best cameraphone they’ve ever offered. It may well be the best cameraphone available from any US carrier right now, as well. Though the touchscreen is smaller than those of its competitors (iPhone, Instinct, and Vu come to mind), it’s bright, clear, and relatively responsive. If you don’t need QWERTY or VCAST TV, Dare is the best feature phone on VZW, and arguably the best media-rich handset currently available on a US carrier.

PhoneDog DogFight Poll - Dec. 08 It's been a little while and the mailbag is overflowing! Let's get right to it:
John asks:Hey Noah, I am thinking of getting a new phone on the Verizon network. Currently I have a Samsung Alias. I want to get a phone that has stellar messaging capabilities, like good email support for mutliple accounts, twitter, IM (AIM), and facebook with good web browsing, also. I am thinking of getting a Blackberry Curve, what else do you suggest?... Below a reader has provided different tips for users of the LG Dare.
You can answer or reject a call while your phone is locked by using the physical keys.
When your dialing a number, if you hold on to the last digit of the phone number, the call will be made.
When receiving a call while your phone is locked you can press and hold the speakerphone key to answer the call in speakerphone mode.
For better QWERTY texting you should... Q. Hi, I saw your comparisons of the LG Dare and Samsung Instinct and I had some more questions about the two. I have some specific questions for the two phones that I'd like some answers to 1. Which touchscreen is better? Which is more responsive? When you're typing which screen works better? I've heard ppl vouch for both sides so I'd like a good extensive opinion from an actual reviewer. 2. Which browser is better? Because I've... Pros: Everything, the touch screen is VERY acurate, music and speaker, picture wuality, camera, video, personalization, call quality, texting, battery, design, EVERYTHING! Cons: None. Video is a Tiny bit pixely but i can live with it. Summary: Great phone, you wont regret it, no mistakes or anything. Battery life is good if you over use you'll still have half or 3/4 bars left. GREAT futures, fun to use and the touch screen is awesome! I love the camera and everything else. I would recommend to everyone. Pros: Nice camera. Very user friendly. Easy customization. Great look and durable. Texting is great after you get used to it. Cons: The web is very hard to navigate around. Summary: Over all I think this phone is solid. There's abundh of cool features on this phone like you can handwrite your texts. And you can take videos at 1200 frames per second and can play of back in slow mo. The camera is 3.2 mega pixels. Also the phone feels great. It's not as long as the instinct and not as fat as the voyager. Great phone I recomend it. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful Pros: Good size, nice sound quality, camera phone Cons: Slower touch screen, often hit thew wrong keys Summary: The LG Dare was one of the best phones i've ever used. It is very neat to say the least. It can run kind of slow at times but overall is a very good touchj screen phone from Verizon. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice touch screen phone at affordable price. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful Pros: Fast, slick design and user friendly. Battery life is great. Summary: I had to exchange my Motorola for Dare. This is the best phone I ever had. Very fast if u browse the net and very friendly and easy to use. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful Pros: i love my dare! it never freezes up and its capable of so many things. i love how much you can personalize everything down to the touch! Cons: i wish there was more cute covers for it. Summary: overall its a wonderful phone. i dont have any complaints. ive had mine for bout 2 and a half months and i couldnt ask for a better phone! 4 out of 5 people found this review helpful All LG Dare user reviewsI'm a big fan of the dogfights. You do a great job, so I feel kinda dumb even making a suggestion. But, I'm a very happy Sprint customer who is about to upgrade and with the flood of great new phones at Sprint, I'm not sure which one to go with. I'd love to see the dogfight, "Palm Pre vs. Samsung Moment vs. HTC Hero". I know I'd like one of those three, just not sure which one. Dharkness-
I would get the versa sooo if ur just hagin out not usin ur phone just take it out but when ur txting just snap it on or if somone sends a message like were u at u say somitin and the conversation is overs so u wouldn't need the snap on meesage part but the dare has no qwerty attchment or push up open cmpoibities so the voyager would beee a goo choice but get the env touch (voyager 2) or the versa and u willllllll be... I have an LG Dare and was wondering if I can exchange pictures between my computer and the Dare via the usb conection. If this is possible, what are the steps? Whenever I use this feature I get a response"there is no song" I have the music on the card, i have moved the music to the phone, and created a playlist but to no avail? Any help? rumor has it a VO 7 update is in the works does anyone know if lg or vzw is going to release a new update ? Well if u want a phyiscal hy board that is easy to use along with a great touch screen. Then Defintlay the Env touch. but if u don't a key. hust a touch screen that works than the Dare Vu is a great phone defenetly when it comes to AT&T's CV service. The thing about LG products is theres always something defective with them as far as the software goes.. If you like a full touch screen phone.. something that dosen't require a data package I would look into the Samsung Eternity. Samsung really does a great job on making things faster and easier defenetly with that widget bar.
It's only about $30 to $50 more dollars depending... honestly i was at the store looking at the versa the other day and i still like the dare better . i dont like how vzw wants to charge an extra $50 for the qwerty
neither. wait for the motorola sholes or the palm pre on verizon. Windows mobile is horrible (Noah Agrees) and therefore the samsung omnia is horrible..... and the dare in the enV touch or voyagerwithout the keyboard so their is no point in getting it because its not a smartphone.... unless a smartphone is not what you want.
