LG Dare Cell Phone

|
The LG Dare is the latest touchscreen bar phone offered by Verizon. Key features include a full media player, HTML browser, Email support, stereo Bluetooth, expandable memory card slot, 3.2 megapixel camera, handwriting recognition, adjustable Text Size for menus, messaging, and dialing, and turn by turn GPS. | What’s Good: Attractive, highly customizable UI with home screen shortcuts; Compact design with high-res touchscreen; HTML Web browser and Email app with EV-DO Rev A support; VCAST Music and Video Support; Rhapsody streaming music support; 3.2 MP camera with flash and VGA video capture; 3.5mm headphone jack; Accelerometer and proximity sensor
What’s Not Good: “Full HTML” Web browser is mildly disappointing; Touchscreen can take a bit of getting used to; No VCAST TV support
Bottom Line: Dare is the best multimedia phone Verizon currently offers and the best cameraphone they’ve ever offered. It may well be the best cameraphone available from any US carrier right now, as well. Though the touchscreen is smaller than those of its competitors (iPhone, Instinct, and Vu come to mind), it’s bright, clear, and relatively responsive. If you don’t need QWERTY or VCAST TV, Dare is the best feature phone on VZW, and arguably the best media-rich handset currently available on a US carrier.

John asks:Hey Noah, I am thinking of getting a new phone on the Verizon network. Currently I have a Samsung Alias. You can answer or reject a call while your phone is locked by using the physical keys.

For better QWERTY texting you should... Q. Hi, I saw your comparisons of the LG Dare and Samsung Instinct and I had some more questions about the two. I have some specific questions for the two phones that I'd like some answers to 1. Which touchscreen is better? Which is more responsive? When you're typing which screen works better? I've heard ppl vouch for both sides so I'd like a good extensive opinion from an actual reviewer. 2. Which browser is better? Because I've... Pros: Everything, the touch screen is VERY acurate, music and speaker, picture wuality, camera, video, personalization, call quality, texting, battery, design, EVERYTHING! Cons: None. Video is a Tiny bit pixely but i can live with it. Summary: Great phone, you wont regret it, no mistakes or anything. Battery life is good if you over use you'll still have half or 3/4 bars left. GREAT futures, fun to use and the touch screen is awesome! I love the camera and everything else. I would recommend to everyone. Pros: Nice camera. Very user friendly. Easy customization. Great look and durable. Texting is great after you get used to it. Cons: The web is very hard to navigate around. Summary: Over all I think this phone is solid. There's abundh of cool features on this phone like you can handwrite your texts. And you can take videos at 1200 frames per second and can play of back in slow mo. The camera is 3.2 mega pixels. Also the phone feels great. It's not as long as the instinct and not as fat as the voyager. Great phone I recomend it. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful Pros: Good size, nice sound quality, camera phone Cons: Slower touch screen, often hit thew wrong keys Summary: The LG Dare was one of the best phones i've ever used. It is very neat to say the least. It can run kind of slow at times but overall is a very good touchj screen phone from Verizon. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice touch screen phone at affordable price. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful Pros: Fast, slick design and user friendly. Battery life is great. Summary: I had to exchange my Motorola for Dare. This is the best phone I ever had. Very fast if u browse the net and very friendly and easy to use. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful Pros: i love my dare! it never freezes up and its capable of so many things. i love how much you can personalize everything down to the touch! Cons: i wish there was more cute covers for it. Summary: overall its a wonderful phone. i dont have any complaints. ive had mine for bout 2 and a half months and i couldnt ask for a better phone! 4 out of 5 people found this review helpful All LG Dare user reviewsI would say Dare I have had several enV Touch problems, and it's shut off randomly, the screen has to be pressed very firmly for a response, and is slow when messaging. I'm on my second one with the same problems. the dare is a fantastic phone, and i think that the dare does have a slight edge in the touch screen area only because that was made to be a touch screen. but if you are a big texter then get the env touch, i own the dare and it is quite easy to type on after a week or two, but the env touch is a great phone and the touch screen is responsive but the main focus of that phone is the internal part of it! dude that would be soooo sweet I agree with you completely about the speakers. Other than that it's a great device. I went to the store, picked up the phone, and got out of the store within 10 minutes. =] Only con I have seen on the Env Touch is speaker is only on internal screen, so when the phone is closed sometimes hard to hear, otherwise its an awesome phone. I cant speak for the Dare because I havent owned it. But, I just bought the Env touch about a week ago, and I love it. Touch screen is very responsive, hasent froze on me once (that seemed to be issue for some touch screens). Has an awesome camera, 3.5 mm jack, takres really great pictures. If you text alot the qwerty keyboard is the best one on verizon right now. Noah just did a full review if you want to watch it. I was leaning towards... Has anyone heard if there will be an updated dare coming out soon? My contract is ended with Tmobile, so I'm on month 2 month. I think I'm going to switch to VerizonWireless and I want a new smartphone. I like the LG Dare, Versa, and enV Touch but from what I understand, these are not smartphones. The Insite is the LG smartphone but only offered with AT&T service. What is the best smartphone that is like the LG phones I mentioned earlier that can be used with VerizonWireless. pros and cons please. anyone heard of a 2nd generation dare coming soon? I WANT A DARE SOOOOO BADDD I LOVE IT !!!!!!
I only use my phone for calls, sometime camera, and I would really like to incorporate a calendar/agenda (to replace broken Palm). I don't text, and do all my emails and web-browsing from my laptop, not my phone. Any suggestions as to which is better?
If you want to yell about how bad this phone is, please use proper grammar and punctuation. This is not a bad phone at all, I think it is a great way to entertain yourself on the go. You probably dont even have it, just saw someone using it on your school bus, got jealous and trash talked it.
Anyway, I love this phone. Awesome way to stay entertained with the mobile web, and especially for me, a huge highlight is that it supports youtube videos. At first you would say it isnt much of a benefit, but it really kills time and saves money. Heres a couple ways: 1. With the Dare's headphone jack, you can just relax in a corner and entertain yourself while not blasting it and annoying other people. 2. because of the headphone jack, instead of getting ripped off paying 2/3 bucks per song, you pay nothing(besides your data plan) by just going on youtube and searching the song you want to listen to.
For my recommendations for owners, I can't stress this enough to Dare owners or anyone who has a touch screen phone: Screen Protectors. Keep that shining brand new LG Dare looking new, buy the screen protectors and keep your screen scratchless. It is worth every bit of the ten dollars. A lot of people will say to me that they didn't do it because it was making too many air bubbles. If this is happening to you, get another one, and apply it perfectly lined to the screen, and as you peel of the things covering the protector, apply it to the screen. Don't fiddle with it because it will get a bunch of things in it, and wont be clear.
My last recommendation is a data plan. Especially if you want to do what i said about youtube. you will be charged a ton without it. A tip about non-data plan: loading anything, for ex. ring tone samples, will cost you data.
Well, thats what I have to say. Carry on my advise to others, and add on to mine. Enjoy your new LG dare!
