LG Incite Cell Phone
Hands-on LG's first smartphone for the US market in a long time ... ever, even. The AT&T Incite runs WinMo 6.1, has a 3" touchscreen, and rocks Video Share and a 3.5mm audio jack. But what's up with the stylus with no stylus slot to call home? No where to put your stylus! Noah reviewed two Windows Mobile touchscreen devices, the LG Incite with AT&T and Samsung Omnia with Verizon during our 4th episode of PhoneDog TV. Noah also covered the best and worst of 2008 as reported on the cellular industry in Consumer Reports, news from Nokia World 2008, why he is using the Nokia E71...for now, and everyone's favorite part; live chat! After the long holiday weekend Noah starts Cyber Monday off with our first GadgetDog Daily episode for December. Highlights of this episode include the countdown to Nokia World in Barcelona where a new Nokia device or interface could be announced, the LG Incite has arrived at PhoneDog west for review and of coarse air drumming by your favorite host. AT&T's first ever LG smartphone made its debut today in the way of the Incite. This Windows Mobile 6.1 touchscreen appears to have it all, including a full color 3 inch screen, Wi-Fi, aGPS, and a 3.0 MP camera with video capture plus playback. What appears to be the way of the future for the keypad on your touchscreen, LG Incite users will find a full QWERTY keyboard in landscape mode, and a 20-key keyboard in portrait. The LG Incite is their first smartphone for U.S. carrier AT&T. This Windows Mobile 6.1 touchscreen device comes equipped with WiFi technology, aGPS functions, 3.0 MP camera with camcorder, and Bluetooth 2.0. Users will enjoy their options to use a full QWERTY keyboard in landscape mode, or a 20-key... Pros: Responsive touch screen, good call quality, MP3, Windows Mobile (free apps), clear/crisp screen. Great camera shots in good lighting. 3.5mm audio jack. 3G connectivity. Good price range - $50 at the real life Buy More. =) Cons: Windows Mobile, where a reboot is necessary. Not so great camera in not so good lighting. AT&T 3G is some places. Screen is smaller than I'm used to. It's reflective and a finger-print magnet. Summary: All in all, it's a great phone. In some ways, better than iPhone. Mainly because I can send MMS and install all the apps that I had since the Cingular 8125 first came out. No way I'm going to pay $199 for a 8GB phone, where I can 'upgrade' my memory card to 16GB down the road. Also, since that I've been with a WM phone since time began, I dont have to 'relearn' a new phone's UI. Slight changes on 6.1 doesn't bother me. Lot's of people complain about the battery life, but if you get into the habit of charging every night. It will last more than 12 hours on casual use, so it doesn't bother me. Screen is clear and responsive, as much as one can expect on a resistive screen. It's just alittle smaller than I'm used to with the 8525 work horse that I had. I would love to have a 3.5 screen like the iPhone, but whatever. If I went with the iPhone, I'll be restricting myself to all that is Apple. So more good than bad in my opinion. 3G connectivity is better on the Incite than the 8525, but just. I think it's my relation to AT&T cell tower and my house. Works everywhere else. Cell call drops is no more than usual, so it's all about location, location, location. Not going to mention the MP3 stuff. It's all good, especially with the 3.5mm jack. I'm considering loosing my MP3 player all together. If you are considering a WM phone, consider the LG Incite. Give it a couple of days or so before one starts to bash on it. There are more + than - in my opinion and experience on this phone. =) 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful Pros: Everything is good Cons: Nothing i can think of Summary: This is a good phone for almost any used i would tell everyone I know to buy this phone! 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing Summary: I would reccomend this phone to anyone who is in need of a good touch screen. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful Pros: LOOKS NICE Cons: Freezes, have to keep reseting phone Summary: I used my incite for two weeks and it was a waste of money. I would not recommend this phone to anyone. The LG incite is total junk 0 out of 1 people found this review helpful Pros: cute size Cons: practically everything...shuts itself off, dumps me into areas where there is apparently no exit, does not ring all the time, screen is flaky at best... Summary: Really bad mistake on my part. For what I paid and what I got....it's the Ford Pinto of phones. 0 out of 1 people found this review helpful All LG Incite user reviewsYeah, ty for the input. I think I'm pretty hooked on the eternity now out of the touchscreens. I'm sure there could be plenty more in depth comparison, but the 3 I listed are the 3 I can get for free with extention if I go with that.
Still haven't gotten down to the AT&T store to get my hands on them and see if I like touchscreen enough vs. being used to thumbing my way around a button pad. I think that will be... i have the samsung eternity and it is wayy better than the incite in alot of ways.
1. touch screen is better 2. eaas and simple to make ur way around the phone 3. dont have 2 pay the over expensive data plans
4. touch screen keyboard is really good. Also i heard u were talking about it over heating while charging and i just want to say tht have never happened in the many months tht i have owned this phone
the touchwiz rillly mkes this phone alot... I may end up just waiting a bit until I can throw some cash in for an upgrade, and perhaps a data plan, since I can also get a Samsung Propel or BB Bold with extension but those will cost me an extra $100.
I really like the Eternity from the videos I've watched comparing all of the above. But I'm so used to feeling my way around buttons while half-looking that I'm actually not sure I'd like a touch screen at all. I need to go back... Thanks for the input!
All of the pluses you mention for Eternity are part of the collection of minor things that make it seem really appealing. The overheating while charging would be the only real issue that's come up so far.
I've never used my phone much for keeping information, but that's not to say I would mind doing so if given a phone more friendly to it. I was also considering a BB Curve because I can get a Curve or... I just upgraded from an Eternity to a Blackberry Curve 8900. The Eternity does have some nice features - the widgets are fun, the accelerometer is nice, and the QWERTY keyboard was precise and responsive, much better than the iPhone. You can flip through (decent quality) photos iPhone style. The haptic feedback is an especially nice touch. However, battery life is short. With limited to moderate use, I could get 1... First off, thanks for this site and the great informative youtube videos. They help a lot in getting an idea of the functionality. There doesn't seem to be much depth about cameras, but maybe not many care about that when phone shopping.
So, I'm looking into upgrading my phone. I have several to choose from, but so far these 3 stand out the most. At first I was leaning toward the Eternity over the Vu, and then I looked... If you know it's limitations, I'd say yes. I've been using the LG Incite for about a month ana half now. Sure, it has it's quirks, but to be hoenst. Every WM phone that I had, the Cingular 8125, AT&T 8525, Treo 750, and the Motorola MPX220, there were quirks. I've worked through them, and with updates and knowing what it can and can't do, it works just fine. The LG Incite is certainly alot cheaper than other WM... i want the lg incite but i watched reviews and they say it sux. I liked it when i played with it at the store. But is it worth getting??? It depends on what your needs are. If you are just looking for a media phone I would recommend the LG Vu. Keep in mind that the lg incite has lots of media capability, but is accompanied by windows mobile. For a phone that also helps you organize as well as surf the web better and has wifi for web, not to mention a 3.5mm headphone jack, then it would be wise to get the incite. I am using the incite and couldnt be happier, but you have to decide... If you rotate the device in landscape mode you get a very nice large qwerty on-screen keyboard. The only problem is it hides most of the screen! To get a little more screen to show press the arrow button in the bottom right hand corner of the keyboard. It will hide the bottom task bar and give you a better view of what you are typing.
