Fancy phone, but screws around with the basics

Overall Rating:
3.3 out of 5

Experience: 14 Days
Pros: Cool metallic look
Bright large screen.

Cons: The OK button goes to AT&T's website rather than menu like most phones.
Worst ringtones.
No simple ringtones.
Wierd power jack -- not on bottom of phone like most.

Summary: No doubt this phone is a good looking device. Has two very bright screens. Gorgeous brushed metallic look.

However, you will soon find out that the menu button that most phones have actually maps to AT&T website to buy ringtones. While this is a brilliant marketing move, it's really really annoying. I don't see the advantage that this phone has over the razor.

It may be me, but the hinge doesn't "feel" that strong. There's already some side to side play between the top and buttom through the hinge.

Finally, the power jack is a wierd USB-like plug and requires you to undo a flimsy cover to plug it in.

Living in the grey area

Overall Rating:
2.7 out of 5

Pros: - feature packed
- large internal/external screen
- thin
- Large Keys
- 3G/EDGE
- Solid voice quality

Cons: - lacks polish compared to other in class
- navigation system is a pain
- slow software with memory card
- no FM tuner

Summary: I am an avid handset user ( meaning I go through a new one every month or 2.)
So here is the down and dirty about this phone.
- can play AAC/MP3...however when using the "music player" it will only look for mp3 files in your phone or storage card. The only way to access any aac files is to go through the horrific menu set up to access them. Once you find the files, you are able to play them, but access to the EQ settings is not there?! Weird.

- Camera is standard issue for a 1.3mp phone. Nothing out of the ordinary

- I have read that there were problems with connection drops going from 3G to EDGE and vice versa. This is not uncommon for a 3G capable handset as the the 3G is a hyrbid of CDMA and GSM frequencies.

- I personally havent had any issues with the reception and have opted to use the EDGE service instead by shutting iff the 3G receptor by using this code from the standby screen: 277634#*#->Modem Setting->Network Mode->2G only. The phone will get wayyyyy better battery life and should not have the dropped call issue.

In conclusion, I was a little confused by this phone. I was not exactly sure what market it was targeted for because it seems to have too many features for someone that just "make calls" and use it sparingly. For the Features it does have (not provider supported) it lacks control and quite frankly there are other manufacturers that make better versions.
