Pros: MP3 player, hey its an LG! superb cameraCons: Buttons get warm after a while, sluggish internet browser, 15second videosSummary: After owning the phone for at least a year and a half now, there has not been any problems. Ok, so thats part of it, as the first time I owned the non-VCAST version, the cam-pics started to dissapear. Otherwise I still own the phone and is great at school, with a great camera and that "flashlight" from the flash is great for the power failure we had a month ago. Just don't expect the battery to last much longer than 4-6 days of casual use. EV-DO service from Verizon Wireless is speedy, and the text capability is good, though that golden background makes it hard to read SMS. Oh, by the way, after the camera pics started to dissapear, I returned the phone and recieved a VCAST version. Great phone, and it is a LG phone, so reliability is subpar.

Pros: MP3 player, speakerphone (great for in the car), camera, simple menu, easy to useCons: noneSummary: I love my phone wouldn't pick anything other than LG. MP3 player is nice for those that just want music every now and then and don't have a need for ipod.

Pros: Sound is awesome and all the features are well worth the priceCons: Can't use the front display screen for much. That would be betterSummary: I bought my phone used off Ebay and haven't regreted it at all. I have a friend that uses something to create ringtones from CD's and they sound fantastic on my phone. I also have really good reception even when others don't even though we have the same service.

Pros: MP3 player, bluetooth, cameraCons: People cant hear me most of the timeSummary: I have had problems with this phone since I received it. People are contantly haveing problems hearing me talk to them. "Can you hear me now" is a phrase I utter way too often with this phone! ITs not the service because i havefull signal strength on my phone while talking. I still have my warrenty .... so I guess I will make another trip to Verizon to gigure out the problem.

Pros: cameraCons: doesn't take very good pictures, has lines in every pic, and reception stinks.Summary: I would not recommend anyone purchasing this phone strictly because of the camera, mine always has lines across the pic no matter what i do. We live in a remote area and every other phone (same provider) gets a signal and mine doesnt.

Pros: Easy to read instructions, clear icons, great display, great sound qualityCons: volume doesn't go up loud enough for speaker settingSummary: I have been very pleased witht his phone. I have found it very easy to use - the functions are clearly defined and the tools are a great help. I use most of the features avaiable, including Bluetooth, web access and am satisfied with its performance.

Pros: excellent mp3 player, screen is very vivid and crisp, camera is great, very easy to operate phoneCons: kinda bulky and all digital isn't great for my area Summary: I am completely happy with this phone. I have a 1 gig sd card for my cell and have hundreds of pics and video's on it as well as tons of ringtones and mp3's. I couldn't live without my cell :)

Pros: Display Quality, Size, Earpiece/Ringer Volume, Predictive Text Entry Remebers New Words, Zoom Feature on Stored Pictures is Useful and Fun, Speed of Internet Based Applications is Great (mobile web, email, games, etc.), Vcast Capable, Can Ring and Vibrate, Takes Videos, You Can Send Messages with Picture/Video and Sound, Stores Many Pictures and Videos Useful Accessories The phone can withstand a great amount of abuse Makes a great flashlight by using the phones flash<Cons: Battery Life, When Using Non Phone Applications if You Pick Up the Call-it Does Not Always Return to the Previous Application Properly, Buggy-I Am on My Thid Replacement Unit (although it is replaced easily) Summary: While many people complain about the Verizon standard user interface, I find it very easy to use. This also helps when using other VZW phones or explaining them to others. I find the picture quality varies-in good conditions you can end up with nice looking photos that are easy to send to other phones or to email. The alarm clock is great-you can set up to three different alarms with many options as to their regularity and noise. You can even mute all other aspects of the phone and leave the alarm on. I use the notepad frequently. You can save many notes which is a great feature when you are without pen and paper. The calender is also set up nicely and easy to use and adjust to your specifications. The tip calculator is great. I had never used one before, but if you are splitting a tab between several people you can easily get an exact amount and vary the tip percentage. It's not perfect, but with what else is on the market, comparitively it's amazing. The phone is packed with many useful features in a small size.

Pros: Battery charges last a very long time. Phone is compact and everything works well when it worksCons: Constantly breaks down.Summary: I've had this phone for the past 18 months in that time I've had to return to my carrier several times a month for the past 9 months. First the bluetooth connection would no longer work. Secondtime the screen on the phone just died and rendered it totally useless. I've ditched it and would NOT reccomend it to anyone for any reason other than a paperweight.
By: jay wetzel on Tuesday, September 05, 2006 From: pittsburgh, PA (United States) Experience: 2 Years
Pros: The phone is a stylish, cool camera phone and mp3 player, with high speed internet capabilities. With the SD card, there is enough storage for your music, pictures, videos, etc.Cons: The speakerphone doesn't sound great, and there is a slight lag from the time you hit the button until the time your picture is captured.Summary: I've been very happy with this phone, and would recommend it for business or entertainment.

Pros: Great photos Great videos Very clear sound Cons: The button on the side is always getting pushed when I pick up the phone and it changes the volume level.Summary: The LG VX-8100 has it all. It is a digital phone that has alot to offer. The LG 8100 takes good pictures and good videos. It zooms if you want to. I use the flash when taking videos. It has an external memory, MP3, great stereo and bluetooth. This phone has alot of memory and voice commands. I use texting and the web browser alot. I forgot to add that it has night mode too.
By: Michael dorn on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 From: Stevens Point, WI (United States) Experience: 16 Months
Pros: Easy to use, flip design, durableCons: signal issues, battery lifeSummary: I've used the LG VX-8100 for over a year now and except for a couple of minor issues its been a solid phone. There are times and locations were its reception is not the best (even when near a tower) and it jumps from local to roaming more often then it should. The battery life is also not the best as I need to change it at least every other day and I do not make significant calls on it. The camera is not of high quality, but for taking pictures on the phone and displaying them on the phone it works great. I've also dropped the phone several times and its held up perfectly.

Pros: like the style, good features, good qualityCons: if you get the case for it, the black loop gets in the way when taking picturesSummary: overall I'm really happy with this phone. I upgraded from the LG 6000 and like this phone very much. The touch of blue color gives a nice touch. Holding the black leather case when you take a picture can get annoying but many people don't even use the case, so that's not really a phone issue.

The launch of Nokia's flagship, touchscreen and QWERTY N97 has already
sparked the inevitable "iPhone Killer" comparisons. Without getting
all into that, it is worth mentioning that the N97 will pack a whopping
32GB of internal memory backed by a microSD card slot officially
capable of supporting another 16GB of storage when the phone ships
sometime in the first half of next year.
Apple's iPhone 3G currently tops out at 16GB of fixed...
Nokia kicked off Nokia World 2008 early this morning in Barcelona, Spain with the launch of their new flagship mobile phone, the N97. Due in the first half of next year, the N97 is Nokia's first N-Series device with a full QWERTY board, which is combined with a sliding, tilting resistive touchscreen and 32GB of onboard memory.
Looking something like a sleeker, shinier HTC Tilt, the N97 is a GSM phone with HSPA and WiFi connectivity and...
As expected, Nokia dropped a bomb on its faithful at Nokia World in Barcelona early this morning. What was it? The flagship N97 smartphone. Due in the first half of 2009, the N97 looks kind of like a modernized HTC Tilt, with its sliding, tilting touchscreen and hidden QWERTY board. Check out Nokia's promo video of the N97.
Nokia World in Barcelona launched so Noah started this Tuesday episode of GadgetDog Daily with announcements from the show. The Nokia N97 a possible "beast of a device" was unveiled and discussed during this episode along with the announcement of the HTC Shadow 2.
The horribly over-hyped, gimmicky, disappointing, bug-plagued BlackBerry Storm should soon be getting its first dose of badly-needed firmware fixes, according to Greg over at MobileCrunch, and a host of other Internet reports. I still think the Storm would be best off slimming down and losing the silly click-screen mechanism altogether, but if you're digging the SurePress action and just waiting until the lags, crashes, and other kinks get...
Around these parts we spend a lot of time covering an industry that revolves around consumerism. I make no bones about the fact that your interest in buying newer, faster, better, and shinier gadgetry goes a long way to making my gig here at PhoneDog possible. Given that I think it'd be utterly hypocritical for me to write another article decrying America for its greedy, overly-materialistic ways - plenty of other writers have...
There's a countdown timer on Nokia's website that's set to expire at 9:15 CET - that's 12:15 AM, Pacific time - tomorrow morning, December 2nd. The timer will strike zero to coincide with the keynote address at Nokia World, a developer's conference in Barcelona, Spain.Nokia World has traditionally not been a venue for big product announcements from the world's #1 maker of cell phones, but tradition seems set to change as of tomorrow. ...
Just in case you didn't do enough shopping on the good old Interweb at lunchtime today, there are plenty more deals to check out when you get home, like Sprint's CyberMonday giveaways. Props to the carrier for realizing there's very little that beats FREE, especially when it comes to gift-shopping. These deals are offered only for a limited time and are good for new activations and eligible upgrades with, of course, a 2-year contract. Palm...
Hello, and welcome to the first installment of Dr. Photo. I’m Adam and yes, I’m a doctor, but no, I don’t know what that thing on your elbow is… I’m a physical chemist (which is how I get away with calling myself a doctor without ever touching people) and a professional photographer and have been called in by my friends at PhoneDog to take a close look at cell phones from a photographer’s point of view (less so from a chemist’s, although I’m...
