Black Friday, Pt. 2 - Best Buy
The Black Friday deals continue, with Best Buy's doorbuster deals. Opening at 5 AM, Best Buy plans to offer the Palm Pre for $79.99 and the LG Chocolate Touch for free out the door. While speculation centers around retail locations stocking five and seven Pre and Chocolate Touch devices resectively, the aforementioned numbers refer to minimum stock, not maximum (see the pictures above). Still, it's worth getting to the store...Blog Article
T-Mobile offering up deals
In the spirit of Black Friday and the shopping weekend that surrounds it, T-Mobile is heating up the stakes by discounting three popular devices. The nation's fourth largest wireless carrier will offer the Motorola CLIQ and BlackBerry Bold 9700 for $149.99 (both after $50 off), and the Samsung Highlight for $49.99 after $50 off. Of course, all require new two-year agreements. What's more, with the new Even More Plus option,...Blog Article
iPhone girl on Droid: Features
When it comes to smartphones, a handset’s features can vary a lot depending on the apps you choose to download. Given this, I chose to focus more on the major built-in features of the Droid. (Once again, this review and the previous parts of it were written with the average consumer and his/her usability in mind as the priority.) Phone Calls: I wonder why so many reviews treat the number-one phone feature like an after-thought? So...Blog Article
iPhone girl on Droid: Design
Sometimes I’m surprised by the number of people who choose phones based on looks. I shouldn’t be — I used to do the same thing. Actually, I still do, to some extent. If a phone has everything I want and need, but looks like a cellular version of Ugly Betty, I’m probably not going to haul that around for long. But does that make us superficial? Perhaps. Or maybe we’re not so wrong in this after all, since the form...Blog Article
iPhone girl on Droid: The OS
Thanks to Best Buy Mobile (who has been supplying some of the devices we get to review), I got my hands on the Motorola Droid and have been playing with it for a couple weeks. So what follows are some of my impressions of the phone, strictly from the point of view of a person newly coming into this platform. At times, there may be an iPhone bent because, well, I can’t help but compare this to my own handset. Plus, those...Blog Article
iPhone girl on Droid: Preface
Before I start, let me just say that I love my phone. Sure, the iPhone’s not perfect, and you may see me kvetch about its closed nature, baffling App Store approvals or hobbled features (tethering, anyone?), but in the end, I still love this handset. Lately though, with all the Android news bursting at the seams, I went beyond the Apple beat and pitched in to help cover it for PhoneDog.Wow, Android was like a strange land. Open source? Non...Blog Article

The Tilt, Touch Pro2, Imagio, and Ozone are all eligible handsets. Once purchased, enter the promotional code at the...Blog Article
Aaron's Top Five Pt. 1 - 2009
Quite regularly, I'm asked a question considered by many in this world to be relatively straightforward: "what cell phone do you use?" Despite the simplicity of the statement, responding is hard. This week, I carried the Bold and iPhone. Last week, I carried the Bold and Hero. The week before that, I carried the Bold and Storm2. In early October, I carried the Bold and Tour. You get the idea. It changes...Blog Article
BlackBerry Bold 9700 at AT&T
After a week on the nation's fourth largest wireless carrier, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is able to call AT&T's retail store shelves home. Cosmetically, few things have changed from the T-Mobile version with the exception of a new logo (obviously), different 3G bands, and a different OS build. The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is available to customers for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and new two-year customer agreement. BlackBerry...Video

Featured News: BBerryDog is up and running! After months of planning, logo work, and more, I'm proud to say that BBerryDog, PhoneDog's BlackBerry-themed sister website, has launched! Featuring exclusive BlackBerry content that wouldn't otherwise be posted on PhoneDog, it's your home away from home (well, I sometimes refer to it as a "vacation home" - along with DroidDog). Be sure to make your way around the website, check out the...Blog Article

Samsung Omnia II coming 12/2
Shown at CTIA Fall last month (check out our video here), we knew the Samsung Omnia II was coming to Verizon at some point, but dates were a bit of a mystery. According to leaked documents obtained by Engadget Mobile, the device will launch in all channels on December 2nd with Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional (thank heavens, since Windows Mobile 6.1 was installed at the convention). Besides that, it will sport the features that were...Video

I really wish they had a call and end button, cuz when your trying to redial it gets complicated having to go to different screens while driving. I love having the keyboard and that the websites seemed to be sized better to the screen then with the mytouch. But I guess thats why they make so many phones, to each their own. lol The only thing I could say about this phone is watch the viedos about it before you buy it. I watched all the youtube videos I could before I bought mine (I was way more knowledgeable about the phone then the reps both in the store and on the phone). Make sure youll use the phone for its purpose. I personally like having ALL my texts, email, and social msgs sent to one place so I didn't have to close out of each thing and go to the next app. Its a heavy feeling phone, and has no accessories yet to protect it so hopefully theyll be able to fix that soon. Really good phone, takes some getting use to, but I feel more like a pro everyday. I recomemend this phone to the mytouch and G1. But remember with every new phone and program there is ALWAYS going to be bugs!! Heres crossing my fingers I don't choke on my words lol!!
Pros:
1. I have a keyboard!
2. Battery lasts more than a day. Mine hasn't drain at all.
3. I have 5 screens! (more space to put my apps and widgets!)
4. Has an app installed that lets me see office files! (They have to be the 2003 version, but thats ok, at least I can see them now! I couldn't do that on the G1 nor the Mytouch, well I could, but I wasn't going to pay 30 buck to buy that application!)
5. Good Camera! I don't prefer my cells cam more than my digital camera, but if I don't have my digital in hand, this one works perfectly! (I haven't tried the video camera)
6. I love the switch to silence the phone! Is so easy now to put my phone on vibrate without even having to turn the screen on!
7. Finally regular headphones! The G1 and Mytouch had the micro and then the headphones.. They were annoying!!
8. Feels like if I accidentally drop it is not going to break. Anyway, Is great I have insurance!
9. Still fits in my pocket!
10. E-mail works great! I can open all common types of files!
11. I notice when I get a text or email while on a call! That's something the G1 doesn't have and on the MyTouch it wasn't loud enough.
Cons:
1. Only to 2GB sd card! The G1 had 1GB and the MyTouch 4GB
2. The Charger is short!
3. Camera needs light
4. Feels heavier than it is. I compared the weight with my sister's G1, and they weight about the same, but still when I'm using the Cliq it feels heavy! (maybe I got used to the MyTouch being so light, idk)
5. I don't care about "The Happenings" They are annoying! I don't need to know what all of my friend, family and estranges are doing 24/7, I have my own life!
6. No send and end call buttons :(
7. Calculator does not have the % sign!
8. syncs ALL the contacts from all sites accounts I added. I don't want all my 300 myspace contacts on my phone!
I can't think of anything else. I just know that prefer this phone 100% more than the 3 previous I had :)
Let me know if this if helpful!!
Cons:
1. Only to 2GB sd card! The G1 had 1GB and the MyTouch 4GB (this is true cant do anything about that lol)
2. The Charger is short! (you can buy longer usb to phone cords)
3. Camera needs light (u can change the brightness after pic is taken)
(turn off happenings)
6. No send and end call buttons :( (phone has both send and end call buttons on screen)
7. Calculator does not have the % sign! (can upgrade the calculator with a simple app)
8. syncs ALL the contacts from all sites accounts I added. I don't want all my 300 myspace contacts on my phone! (put settings on motoblur contacts in your caller list and everything else wont show up)
Hope this helps!
I'd rather just use Androids facebook widget that you can put on your screen. Over all I was very disappointed with this phone. I should have known right away from the horrible packaging. I'm definatly just holding on to this cliq till the behold II comes out in Mid November!
