ic 902 - basic functions are terrific BUT

Overall Rating:
3.8 out of 5
By: Nicolai Cauchy on Saturday, December 29, 2007
From: Cambridge, MA (United States)
Experience: 45 Days
Pros: great reception in phone and walkie talkie; nice design; good battery life

Cons: I've not used any of the multimedia stuff (I'm not a techie), but two drawbacks are: 1) the absence of any software by Motorola Tools that would enable a synchronization of my MS Outlook files (address book & calendar) and 2) the bluetooth sometimes goes on and off of its own free will - which has led to several interrupted conversations.

Summary: I've had Sprint Nextel for 2 years, initially with the i970 then the hybrid ic502. I continually complained of interrupted calls, poor reception, noise on the line, etc... furthermore, both batteries hardly lasted a day!
I've now had the ic902 over one month, and I have no more of these complaints. There is literally a world of difference between this model and the two previous ones! I've also used the alarm clock and the calendar, both of which work really well.

That being said, I encourage ALL SPRINT/NEXTEL users to consider signing up in a class-action lawsuit for their MISREPRESENTATION of service and WRONGFUL ADVERTISING: it is absolutely unacceptable that it has taken them two years to make one model that works on both networks! They should never have been allowed to claim "SPRINT, NOW TOGETHER WITH NEXTEL" until they had such a functioning unit.
In reparation, I would suggest that every customer be offered one of these ic902 free of charge AND that all communications between any two Sprint and/or Nextel customers be free of charge.

Realistically, we are getting completely ripped off by the oligopolies that cell phone lobbyists protect in the USA - our free market system is going straight to hell unless we react, and this seems a timely opportunity. Voice your concern! Don't wait until scandals grow the size of Enron or Worldcom - ACT NOW, email me or write a brief note to your state Attorney General's office.

Happy 2008 everyone!
