Experience: 8 Months
Pros: It has an easy menu. Speaker Phone works well. Very stylish.

Cons: Bad picture quality on camera. Tough buttons to text on. easily broken.

Summary: This phone is not a bad phone. I LOVE it. But like any other phone it has its problems. For an adult it is a better idea than for an always texting teenager or picture taking child. . .

Traded Up - Won't Trade Down

Overall Rating:
4.7 out of 5
By: JT McDuffie on Wednesday, August 20, 2008
From: Minden, NV (United States)
Experience: 4 Months
Pros: Works great, Sounds great, Does what I need

Cons: Ringer volume not loud enough, just average web browser performance.

Summary: I've had the RAZR V3 and V3xx. I have always preferred the Motorola phones, and this version continues to justify that preference. The camera works very well (for a cellphone), taking pictures which have become part of the family album (in other words - good enough to keep showing friends and family).

I have over 350 directory entries with about 1000 numbers, plus e-mail and physical addresses. With Motorola's Phone Tools (I highly recommend you purchase this software) I am able to keep my address book sync'd with Outlook. It also makes it easy to move photographs from phone to computer.

When I'm on the road, I use the Edge and 3G data connection to keep my laptop connected to the internet. This works VERY well. I can also use this phone to make voice calls WHILE my laptop is connected to the internet. Way cool - at a fraction of the cost of having a dedicated data card in the laptop.

In summary - this is a great successor to the very successful RAZR line of cellphones. It will be interesting to see how they improve on this one for their next generation.

It's a good decoration

From: chios, Chios (Greece)
Experience: 1 Years
Pros: Style, synchronization with Outlook

Cons: Text input very bad. Greek T9 primitive. Very limited customization. Bad keyboard. Several keys malfunctioned within 3 months. very low Battery duration. black plastic paint was scraped off easily. usb door badly designed, breaks easily. Pictures taking in low light conditions are very dim. Several times the system was completely frozen. It has also happened several times that the conversation was broken off without any obvious reason

Summary: I paid quite a bit for the phone and did not get close to what I expected from a phone of this price range. To register my dissatisfaction I will stay away from any and all motorola phones in the future.

Motorola RAZR2

Overall Rating:
2.7 out of 5
By: Brent Bundy on Sunday, July 20, 2008
From: McAlester, OK (United States)
Experience: 4 Months
Pros: Looks good, camera works well, display is good

Cons: Sound is poor, battery cover comes off too easely

Summary: The sound is poor on booth regular phone and speaker phone-volume can not be turned up enough. If you drop the phone, the battery cover comes off and the battery comes out-every time. You can not easily review your speed dial numbers. I prefer my old LG phone over this one.

Updates: BlackBerry Storm getting firmware updates

    BlackBerry Storm Updates

The horribly over-hyped, gimmicky, disappointing, bug-plagued BlackBerry Storm should soon be getting its first dose of badly-needed firmware fixes, according to Greg over at MobileCrunch, and a host of other Internet reports.  I still think the Storm would be best off slimming down and losing the silly click-screen mechanism altogether, but if you're digging the SurePress action and just waiting until the lags, crashes, and other kinks get...

Worth It?: Three die in Black Friday tragedies

    Black Friday Deaths

Around these parts we spend a lot of time covering an industry that revolves around consumerism.  I make no bones about the fact that your interest in buying newer, faster, better, and shinier gadgetry goes a long way to making my gig here at PhoneDog possible.  Given that I think it'd be utterly hypocritical for me to write another article decrying America for its greedy, overly-materialistic ways.  I love technology and gadgets...

Just in case you didn't do enough shopping on the good old Interweb at lunchtime today, there are plenty more deals to check out when you get home, like Sprint's CyberMonday giveaways. Props to the carrier for realizing there's very little that beats FREE, especially when it comes to gift-shopping. These deals are offered only for a limited time and are good for new activations and eligible upgrades with, of course, a 2-year contract.  Palm...

Hello, and welcome to the first installment of Dr. Photo. Mini-review: Pantech Matrix

Pros: 3G, full QWERTY,  total messaging package, good value, feels tough. Cons: GPS isn't free, it's pretty thick. I'm loving the selection of messaging devices this season: Propel, Gravity, Slate, Quickfire, Rant, and Matrix are a few off the top of my head, but I know there are more out there. If you're heavy on text and into the novelty of experimental form factors, the Matrix should be at the top of your list. The C740 is an updated...

What I dislike about the G1

What I dislike about the G1

I don't want to kill anyone's Black Friday shopping buzz, or discourage you from buying the G1 as a holiday gift. But I have dedicated a lot of posts to pointing out the benefits of this phone, and it's operating system, Android. I think it's time that I cover some negative aspects of the device. Most design problems become apparent over time, and may not be recognizable during an in-store test. They're not the kind of thing you want to be...

    Double up deals from AT&T

AT&T has a "two for the price of one" sale going on the Pantech Matrix and Samsung Propel this Thanksgiving, and it will be in effect at least until Sunday. It's kind of a messy deal. You have to sign a contract and pay $129.99 for the first device, but you'll get a $50 rebate in the mail. Still, it's a cool way to get messaging devices into the hands of couples.
