Pantech Matrix-C740 Blue Cell Phone
Don't judge a book by it's cover: Pantech's Matrix and Matrix Pro look very similar, but one's a messaging phone while the other is a full-on Windows Mobile smartphone. Which one's for you? Watch and decid Recently, I caught up with Jack Cooper, LetsTalk.com's Merchandising Manager for AT&T, to get some inside scoop on the Pantech Matrix. Check out the video to get a closer look at the Matrix. AT&T announced FOUR new QWERTY phones for the holiday season. Here's the first: The Pantech Matrix. It's not a smartphone, but it has two keypads, 3G, and mobile Email and IM. "Dumbphone," my eye! Pros: 3G, full QWERTY, total messaging package, good value, feels tough. Cons: GPS isn't free, it's pretty thick.
I'm loving the selection of messaging devices this season: Propel, Gravity, Slate, Quickfire, Rant, and Matrix are a few off the top of my head, but I know there are more out there. If you're heavy on text and into the novelty of experimental form factors, the Matrix should be at the top of your list. The C740 is an updated... AT&T has a "two for the price of one" sale going on the Pantech Matrix and Samsung Propel this Thanksgiving, and it will be in effect at least until Sunday. It's kind of a messy deal. You have to sign a contract and pay $129.99 for the first device, but you'll get a $50 rebate in the mail. Still, it's a cool way to get messaging devices into the hands of couples. A worker at a local AT&T kiosk told me last night that he was doing a... Finally you can all stop asking me when AT&T's gonna get them a QWERTY phone. Boom! Here's four for your SMS-fiending thumbs to drool over. I'm going to be lazy and just cut-and-paste from the press release:
Pantech MatrixThe Pantech Matrix is available today in navy blue and black with green and will be available Oct. 16 in red. It is $79.99 with a two-year agreement and mail-in rebate1, and it features the unique... The Pantech Matrix is available today in navy blue and black with green and will be available Oct. 16 in red. It is $79.99 with a two-year agreement and mail-in rebate, and it features the unique dual-sliding, double-keypad design that is found on the popular Pantech Duo smartphone in AT&T stores. The... Remember the Pantech Duo, a Helio Ocean-esque dual slider WinMo
smartphone for AT&T? I really like the idea of that phone, but in
reality it was super bulky and just not that fun to use. Looks like
Pantech's cooking up a successor of sorts, and has dumbed the Duo down
in a good way to create the Matrix, a dual-slider that's a
messaging-centric "dumb phone" with slicker styling, funner features,
and (hopefully) a slimmer... Pros: This phone is a pice of crap i got mine about 9 months ago.Just because it slide both way doesnt mean its the coolest phone ever. when u come to find out u only use the keyboard. so the sliding up its useless! Battery life sucks. Ive dropped my phone once and it has all these cracks on the screen. Cons: not good battery life Summary: I hate this stinkin phone not very durible Pros: qwerty keyboard, keypad, pretty good messaging,d-pad,pretty good camera and speaker Cons: no touch screen, flat keyboard and pad,no flash camera Summary: the phone itself is pretty good for me,but for others there may be better. I can honestly say that if i compared it to the LG xenon,a phone i also like a lot,the matrix would win. Pros: Dual sliding, good color, and nice design Cons: Kind of thick, small Qwerty pad, not a smartphone(but that is ok),kind of hard to use,and could have a better selection of things! Summary: The pantech is an average phone, honestly it could be a little better!I do like its features ,but I am a texter and do not really like tha Qwerty pad! I reccomend them to average texters, another thing is that its not a smartphone, that is not a big deal though!! 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful Pros: Love the sliding. I never thought I'd actually like the QWERTY keyboard but I use it more than the number pad. I like having that option to use either the # pad or keys. The glossiness of the phone rocks too :D Cons: The buttons next to the toggle button are kind of small Summary: I really like this phone. I think its a nice phone. I got it Christmas eve (yestereday) and have been non-stop using it since. I enjoy it greatly. Easy to switch over from any other phone. I found it easy to use. 6 out of 6 people found this review helpful Pros: Sleek design, dual sluding keypads, pocketable. Cons: Extremely thick. Summary: I really love this phone! It looks very nice, and the keypads feel nice, although it would be nice if it was a smartphone, but I realize it is a messaging phone, so it is nice for what you pay for. I personally would give it a 4.5 out of 5. Thanks Noah, the unboxing was great, and gave me a clue for what to look for when or if I get it. I can't wait to get it, and Phone Dog has been a lot of help. 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful All Pantech Matrix-C740 Blue user reviewsAT&T- Samsung ImpressionVerizon- Lg Env touchSprint- Samsung Instinct s30 (no qwerty on this one but very nice phone)T-Mobile- Ummm you could go with the newest SidekickAny questions on these phones or others just ask yes, i agree. i love phones with touch screens but i think that they should include normal qwert boards
So if your a teenager like me, for verizon i would say you should get the versa or env touch. at&t you should get the xenon. idk much about the other carriers tho, sorry I would say lg xenon bc i just went to see it at the store and it looks very tite. thanks and i dont hate touch screens what i hate is using a qwerty key board on the touch screen i like using a slide out qwerty key board] Here's my recommendations,
AT&T: If you are getting a Martix, get the Pro. It's Windows Mobile 6.1 with threaded text messages. The regular Matrix doesn not have threaded texts.
It's a toss up between the LG Xenon and Samsung Impression, but Xenon has the threaded texts, and the Impression has the slightly larger screen. Both have touch screens that I know you are not interested in, but has the... i haaaaaaaaaaate on screen touch keyboards i reccomed the samsung eternity it has a great touch screen keyboard. i have had this phone for a lil over a month and i love it. it is a feature phone and not a smart phone but ur a teenager lik myself and u prolly dont want 1 and the eternity has the most features i think i have ever seen a phone have. and unlike the impression the etrnity had mobile tv and a rilly good browser. i no price isnt important but the eternith is alot cheaper... I text alot and listen to alot of music i watch tv and use the internet Lg xenonSamsung ImpressionHTC FuzeHtc touch Prosamsung instinctSamsung Instinct s30Pantech MatrixPantech Matrix ProWhich has the best call quality, and touch screen price does not matter okay i can't figure out how to activate speaker-phone during a call. please tell me how. the eternity is probably the phone for you and the new samsung impression coming out soon is basically an eternity with qwerty board so check it out secondly the matrx breaks easily so you may not want it Buying choicesWith new service This item is not being sold with a service plan by any online merchant.
