Samsung SCH-R200 Cell Phone

Samsung SCH-R200

Phone description

The SCH-R200 is a bare bones basic bar phone (say that five times fast) that gets the job done. If all you need to do is to make and receive phone calls along with some text messaging then this is the right phone for you. Key features include preloaded Tetris and Axess shop applications along with polyphonic ringtones and handsfree speaker phone.

Great little phone

Overall Rating:
4.3 out of 5
By: Andrew Hassler on Tuesday, June 17, 2008
From: Harrisonburg, VA (United States)
Experience: 9 Months
Pros: Cheap, reliable, easy to use

Cons: Light on features for some people, but hey, if you want features go buy an iPhone or something.

Summary: I've had this phone for about 9 months now, and I've yet to have a single problem with it. I'm not the type of person who needs email access or customizable ringtones or anything, just a nice, reliable phone to make calls and send texts, which this little guy does extremely well. Interface is dead simple to learn, has plenty of memory available, even after I've downloaded a few ringtones for it. Screen is nice and bright, easy to see, and the keys are spaced close enough to be compact but not cumbersome or awkward. Battery life is decent on mine, usually lasting around 36-48 hours, depending on how much I use it. I have dropped it a couple times, but it's extremely durable thanks to it's simple design and lack of needless bells and whistles. I'm very glad I went with this phone, it has suited my needs perfectly!

Frustration!

Overall Rating:
3.2 out of 5
By: Nikki Skroch on Wednesday, April 09, 2008
From: Stratford, WI (United States)
Experience: 4 Months
Pros: Small, no useless features, good reception

Cons: Terrible battery life, small keys

Summary: I bought this phone in Dec 2007 and have had it into the Alltel store 4 times since. I have had very bad reception, then that was fixed, then people couldn't hear me, though I could hear them. That was also fixed, now my battery will go dead in about 24 hours, and reception is becoming poor again.

I love the concept of this small phone, but the pain it is to take it into get fixed once a month isn't worth it!

Good Phone

Overall Rating:
4.2 out of 5
By: Luke Milner on Monday, November 26, 2007
From: Atlanta, GA (United States)
Experience: 3 Days
Pros: Solid, simple, and small. Easy to use and good sound quality.

Cons: No Tetris! Menus are not as customizable as you'd like. Phone book is formatted crudely. When the battery is low it makes an annoying noise until you turn it off or recharge.

Summary: I'm tired of flimsy flip phones with useless extra features and big battery draining screens. I never used the camera or internet on my last phone. I just wanted a durable bar phone to make calls and send a few messages. This phone is smaller and more dense than I thought. I haven't dropped it yet, but I think it will be durable. The software is a little crude, but it's light on the animations, which is nice. I just wish it didn't make the annoying noise when the battery is low. I know it's far from the only phone that does that, though.
