LG’s V and EnV for Verizon Wireless were innovative handsets for their time: The phones sported a “horizontal clamshell” form factor that looked like a candybar phone on the outside but opened to reveal a full QWERTY board and large display on the inside, and offered users the convenience of a full keypad for texting without the complexity of a smartphone. The phones were primarily embraced by early adopters who were willing to sacrifice a bit of style (both devices are pretty bulky) for the geek-chic of that full QWERTY thumbboard and high speed EV-DO data access.

Now that texting has become more popular than talking in many circles, Verizon Wireless offers no fewer than four “VCAST Messaging Phones” that offer QWERTY boards in a “dumbphone” configuration. Alongside the LG Voyager and Samsung Glyde and Alias is the LG EnV2 (VX-9100), a slimmed down successor to the V and EnV that offers a solid set of messaging and multimedia features at an affordable price.

Is the EnV2 a worthy follow-up to EnV? And is it the right choice for you in VZW’s now-crowded messaging phone lineup? Yes. And maybe.

I have it. Have had it for one year and five months. The front buttons stopped working about 7 months after getting it. I do not recomend picking this one out. It also randomly turns off. Freezes when you use mobile web. Drops calls all the time. And I never did figure out how to use an sd card with it. I tried once, and lost all my pictures. I can not wait until this contract is up.

i have this phone and i am starting to get mad at it. i am on my 3rd one. i started looking for a new phone after my first one broke. so i wouldnt really recommend it.

I have had this phone for almost a year now, and already, I am looking at new phones. This is not the best phone that verizon has made, let me tell you that. Also, the front breaks so easily, it's crazy!! Another thing about this phone is that it can only hold about 15-16 characters in the signature. Other phones can hold up to about 32. That's about double the env2!!! But on a lighter note, this phone has a music player, mobile IM, with AIM, yahoo, and WL messenger, and it has mobile e-mail. However, this phone is a very nice messaging phone, with a full QWERTY keypad. Sometimes, it can take a while to send a message though. My advice to you is, don't get this phone, there are plenty other nicer looking, messaging phones. 8)

This phone sucks!! I have had 3 of them and my 3rd one is breaking down. About 6 of the front buttons don't work. Don't buy it!!!!

omg! do not get this phone! me and all my friends hate it! alllll the #s on the front break and u cant use the front then! then mine has so many software glitches and if sum1 txts "hey whats up" it comes up lik

ur signature can only hold 16 charactors and this phone butt dials soooooooo much!!!! I HATE THIS PHONE! DO NOT GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have 3 friends that have this phone and they all say it works perfectly fine and thats not cuz they are new cuz one of them has had hers for a year and is still on her first one and it has no problems...i want it so bad

I haven't had any problems with this phone. I have dropped it maybe twice and it still works fine. You guys are just stupid if you're breaking it. The battery life is what really doe it for me though. I got 11 days on my last charge.

I am very unhappy with the phone. I'm on my second replacement and it broke AGAIN. I am getting the enV touch soon, thank gosh. DO NOT GET THIS PHONE! My friends have it and says it randomly drops calls and restarts.
