Nokia N95 Review - Conclusion
ConclusionNokia's N95 was one of the most anticipated handset launches of the past year or so because of its extensive functionality and unmatched (on paper) 5 megapixel camera. While the handset's UI and software capabilities weren't bound to be much of a surprise to anyone who's used a Series 60 3.1 device, questions about image quality, battery life, form factor, and GPS capabilities made getting one of these babies in hand quite exciting just the same. After a few weeks with an N95 in tow, I have to say it's met or exceeded all expectations with a few minor caveats. The camera is excellent, but it lacks a real flash. The display is beautiful and the form factor isn't too bad, but the build quality just a shade off from Nokia's high standards. The 3.5mm headphone jack is a music lover's dream, but the music player exhibits a little more background hiss than other quality music phones. The WiFi and GPS functionality work well, but there's no US-compatible 3G data option and some GPS features require a paid subscription. Still, the N95 is the most full featured cell phone that you can use in the US, and it nudges closer to the holy grail of a camera phone so good it'll replace your standalone digital camera and camcorder all in one. Add to that full Symbian smartphone functionality, HTML Web browsing with integrated WiFi, and a versatile media player, and you've got yourself a true multimedia computer that also happens to make phone calls. Is the N95 worth that hefty $750 price tag? Personally, I'd have to be pushed pretty hard to spend more than $350 or so on a phone right now. Technology moves so quickly that other 5 MP camera phones are bound to hit the market before too long, and once they do prices should drop across the board (note how 2MP is now the standard for mid-level phones on US carriers, whereas 1.3MP was the norm only a few months ago). Also, the lack of a true camera flash and the handset's 21mm-thick profile are slight turn-offs for me, the latter especially considering the lack of a QWERTY keyboard. Would those minor issues be deal-breakers on a $200 handset I otherwise really liked? Probably not. But when the sticker reads $750, everything had better be as close to perfect as possible. For some power users and early adopters out there, the N95 is close enough to perfect to warrant the big cash outlay. For me, it's an amazing piece of kit (as the English say) that I'm glad I got to try out. But I think I'll pass on the phone and hang on to all that cash for now. Ive been looking at three phones to buy; Nokia N95, samsung instinct and the lg keybo(env2). I am looking for a good internet phone with an awesome mp3 player and easy to text. Do u have any suggestions?
A. Thanks for the kind words - glad you like the reviews! Since you said "Easy to text" I have to ask if you like to use T9 or full QWERTY to text. If you like full... I have a tip that is great for people with smart phones that are either only edge capable or on an edge only network. Using Opera Mini browser on my Nokia E71 and N95 on T-mobiles network I can browse the web faster than using AT&T or Sprints 3G networks, I've tested it. The pages load about 3 seconds faster than on the 3G networks. I have found that this is not well known among T-mobile users that I know. A few weeks ago I reported on increased talk about Nokia's N95 - that do it all 5MP Camera, GPS & WiFi uberphone - making its way to AT&T here in the US before too long. That was just the latest in a chain of related rumors dating back to last summer, but it did seem to have some legs. Well, chalk another one up for those legs (or for an unfortunate error on AT&T or Google's part).
I Googled "Nokia N95" while... Does anyone even remember that AT&T actually carries a Nokia N-Series phone, the oversized, underpowered, crippled by its US carrier N75? Let's hope that if the current rumor about another N-Series device coming to AT&T bears fruit, the response from consumers is a bit less tepid this time around – last time I checked customers had given the N75 just under 3 out of 5 stars on ATT's website.
Of course if the N95 does make its... The rumor mill is heating up just a bit in preparation for next week's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, and this latest rumor is a doozy. Samsung is said to be readying their G810 for release next week, and this $850+ sliderphone may well feature everything this side of your kitchen sink when it makes its debut.
Unwired View lists the G810 as featuring a 5mp camera with 3x optical zoom and anti-shake and face recognition... Call it the eye of the storm: CES teased us earlier this month with a few new handsets from Sony Ericsson and Motorola (not to mention the official debut of Nokia's N95 8GB US model), and all sorts of sexy new phones should be unveiled at next month's World Mobility Congress (aka 3GSM) in Barcelona. And then there's CTIA Las Vegas, which kicks off on the last day of March.
This break in the action seems like a good time for some... I ALSO DOWNLOADED OPERA MINI AND TELLS ME THAT I NEED TO CONTACT MY PROVIDER
I NEED HELP? Will Opera Mini work on the Behold and if so what is the trick get it to work, because I've downloaded 2 versions and neither work.

Hei, I am a Nokia N85 user. I saw the picture of Nokia N95 8GB from gsmprofile and got all information from gsmarena but it looks so bothering to me. I was scared to watch the picture. Though I have no real life experience about N95 8GB but I think it is the oddest looking phone of the N-Series Family. Who likes this phone? I really don’t know! Do you have any idea that how it... i got my N95 8gb any one know any mods and how to make the slider more studiderbesides that it a nice phone best camera and screen is good I have a tip that is great for people with smart phones that are either only edge capable or on an edge only network. Are you serious?? iPhone won't be successful? It already is successful and will continue to be so for the foreseable future. How long do you think it will take Apple to out sell the N95 oh I'm sorry it already has- Doh!
Hi,
Nokia N95 is much better because it has everything such as a good camera, music player, video player, phone, messaging, video calling, and much more. Touch screen doesn't matter when you have lot of other things. According to me Apple should just make computers and iPod, iPhone won't be successful. Hope this will help you.
Enjoy! Hi guys,
I am new here and going to buy one of them so I wanted to
know your opinions. Please drop me your beliefs that can I determine to buy one
of them.
Illuminate me please!
