Samsung Glyde Review - At a Glance
At a GlanceWhat’s Good: Touchscreen and Full QWERTY Keyboard in Compact Body; Clean Menus and “Croix” User Interface; 2MP Camera with Autofocus and Flash; GPS with VZ Navigator; Full HTML Browser; Good Sound Quality
What’s Not Good: Touchscreen Can Be Difficult to Use, Especially Around Edges and Using Web Browser; Slightly Thick Profile; No D-Pad
Bottom Line: Samsung shrunk the F700 down to a cool, compact size in making the Glyde. The slide-out QWERTY board is handy and surprisingly comfortable given its small size, and the finger-friendly touchscreen is generally quite good (with a few consistently frustrating quirks). Glyde brings much of Voyager’s flash to a smaller, simpler device, and is a fun new option in Verizon’s messaging phone lineup.

Everyone probably has some idea about or uses speed dial, right. For me, I normally use speed dials 2 through 9 (which gives you 8 speedy contacts you can reach with just two taps) because it can be too many contacts to remember to enter all contacts in all speed dials after speed dial nine.
Now, you can go ahead and move on to speed dials 10 and on but you'll to take another second to tap... Previous Posts in this series: LG Voyager - VZW, LG Dare - VZWSamsung Glyde (u940)Glyde is the American sibling of Samsung's F700 Ultra Smart, and was much anticipated by phone geeks here in the States. VZW and Samsung literally shrunk the F700 down into a more compact, pocketable form factor in Glyde. For me, the results were mixed: Glyde is nice and small but still features a comfortable QWERTY board for messaging. But the... Cell phone junkies - or anyone who's spent any time in Europe, Korea, or Japan - will tell you that the U.S. cell phone market lags almost hopelessly behind its global counterparts. The American market is tightly controlled by the network operators, and half of US phones run on a proprietary standard incompatible with most of the world's networks (CDMA, used by Verizon and Sprint), a combination that's long resulted in a lack of options... Q. Which device do you like better Noah, the Samsung Glyde or the LG Voyager?
A. Voyager is bigger to carry around but much easier to use. If you want a small, cool phone that you'll use mainly only for calls and texting, Glyde will work and I love how small it is. But if you plan to also use the Web and the VCAST music and video features, you might find Glyde frustrating - I know I did. Check 'em out in person, as I... Here's Part 2 ... And yes, KravvyKrav is my YouTube alias. porky247 Asks:samsung instinctnow ive been looking for videos showing if texting is good, internet, radio, tv, video recording, pics, stuff like that if theres any way sometime in june before it comes out you can get it and show that i heard from engadget its supposed to release june 20 or something thanksKravvyKrav Answers:Hey Porky ... Just... I'm looking for a new phone and I can't get over the glyde. I really want to get it, but all I hear is bad reviews. But you say there's an updated hamburger version? haha. Where could I find one? The thing is though... I have a t-mobile sim card. I wouldn't be able to buy the glyde then throw in the T-mobile sim card, would I? Hi. I have the latest update, which actually comes after BI29. It's called BK14. I know, sounds like a hamburger...anyway, I really like it. I seriously hated the Glyde before the update. The touch screen was horrible and just kept getting worse, and the pulsating blue square in the center of the screen was annoying. The touch screen is much better. Almost perfect actually, very precise. With the new update, that square is gone, replaced by a... I've heard about the newest update for the Samsung Glyde and it sounds pretty great, but I'd love to hear what you guys think. for a nice phone on a budget definitely get the glyde it is sick [quote user="nelson1tom"]heres some tips for the natorious Samsung Glyde:Have you ever noticed that even with the new firmware the touch screen still goes whacko? Its especaily anoying when your trying to send a message quickly like in the middle of class or somthing. well one fix is to lock your phone with the side button and then quickly tap on the unlock sighn twice so you unlock the phone and send the message. :)Another texting tip is... when sending a text message if you want to use one of the puncuation marks or numbers instead of pressing the "Fn" button you can hold the letter that has the number or puncuation mark I like the glyde a lot. The voyager is a little big but idk. And the dare is really nice.
Can anyone help. Feedback from someone with these phones.
Right now im leaning toward the glyde
Thanks dear phonedog
I was in the verizon store the other day and I was looking at some phones because I'm getting a new one soon. I stopped at the glyde just to look at it and I noticed the menu system and ui were totally different. do you have any info on this software up date?? thanks... All depends what you want to use it for:Calling: GoodMessaging: GreatWeb: OkayMedia/Music: OkayYou should watch my review videos to learn more. And also bear in mind that Samsung has released a firmware update that supposedly helps quite a bit with touchscreen problems that the first batch of Glydes suffered from.CheersNoah In the instant messaging box when you type a new message if yo made a mistake on the 50th letter hold down from the beginning it highlights the whole sentence and delete it all instead of keep on pressing the delete button :-)

#1. AS SOON as you get some scratches on the Touch Screen, YOUR PHONE IS WORTHLESS!!
#2. The touch screen IS NOT responsive.
#3. I Have gone through 2 phones, was about to go onto a third but I switched back to the enV1 (UPGRADE! NOT downgrade..)
#4. The width of the touch screen is LESS then 1/2 of a Dollar Bill.
#5. The Camera IS Good 2.0 MP.
#6. THE KEYBOARD IS small!!!!
---COMPARED TO THE enV1---
#1. The enV1 is a slight longer than the Glyde.
#2. They are both about the same width, ACTUALLY the Glyde seems a bit wider but you can not even notice it.
#3. The back Battery plate is DIFFICULT to get back on when it is off.
------MY OPINION ON THE GLYDE!------
I personally think that the Glyde would have to be the WORST phone out! I think that Verizon should NOT have even introduced the phone out on the market w/ Verizon! Now LG is a GREAT GREAT company to buy phones from! My choice was the Lg Voyager or Smasung Glyde, Guess which one I picked? THE SAMSUNG GLYDE!@!! BAD CHOICE! My brother got the LG Voyager and it is MUCH MUCH BETTER! Thanks for your time! I know this comment was long! please excuse that!
