Well look what Santa brought as an after-Xmas gift!  It's a bunch of photos of what looks to be HTC's new smartphone lineup.  What's even better is that our friends over at TmoNews.com also sent us a few extra shots confirming what the next HTC/T-Mobile Android phone will look like.

Here it is, kids, the "G2," codename "Sapphire."  We don't know what T-Mobile will be calling it, nor when they'll be releasing it, but you can see the myFaves branding on the photo in the video, so you know it's coming from Magenta.  Get a load of that big display, trackball, and QWERTY-less, slimmer than G1 profile.  Lookin' good, huh?

Also shown in the video are what appear to be a touchscreen smartphone for AT&T (Topaz), and what we think is the T-Mobile Wing II, codenamed Rhodium.  Get yourself excited for 2009, HTC fans.  You know where there's cool HTC hardware, UI improvements are coming, as well.  If 2008 brought us TouchFlo 3D, just imagine what '09 has in store from HTC.

Hate to break it to you, Noah, but that's not a MyFaves button. It's the Home button. Remember, Android requires 5 physical buttons, and this phone has exactly five physical buttons on the bottom. Call, Menu, Back, End, and Home. That's what we're looking at. There isn't any room for any proprietary buttons there. Not to mention it's clearly an icon of a little house, it looks nothing like the MyFaves logo.

Why in the hell is it so hard for HTC to start adding 3.5mm jacks to their new phones? LED flash? Enough memory to run Android AND additional Apps? Not impressed at all.

I've always liked gadgets, but writing for PhoneDog has turned me into a giddy, fidgeting fanboy. I think I finally understand the Star Wars mentality.
