This video is primarily meant to be a preview for those that are curious about what to expect from HTC's coming Android phones. For the hackers and modders, I've given all the resources you need
to run this yourselves. No flash - just some adb and an apk.
The QWERTY is indicative of the kind of changes we will see different OEMs (and carriers?) work into their own builds of Google's OS. That is what Android is all about, after all - openness. Customizability might turn out to be one of the strongest incentives for OEMs to embrace Android. Let's just hope it doesn't reach the point where we see a corporate logo every time a call is missed.

What home and theme app are you using in this demo? Also, is that a twitter widget? Whats the name of it?
I have only installed via adb, but have heard that the apk in this file can be installed like any other app. I can't vouch for that method myself.
You can search for

However, I am not quite sure with the suspected pricing that they are passing on the discount to the consumer from not having to pay for software. That's a whole seperate issue.
For the record, I have given a dollar to HK and JF every build, which means I am out almost $10. I will even go a little bit further than John and say that HK and JF deserve respect and support if you have ever used one of their builds. Stay on their good sides, especially HK's because he will probably be taking control of the computer world by 25.
While I'm here, I want to publicly thank JF and Haykuro. They've done great work for the modding community and it has allowed me to test features early.
If their work has improved your G1 experience, maybe send a little something their way. Small donations add up.
Both have buttons for donating -

I'm not sure which phones will be getting this one. I think we can expect new HTC devices to ship with it, but I don't know if it will automatically come to G1s.
Overall, it just feels nicer - more polished - than the current Google KB. But I'm sure they've got a few things in mind too.
Those are the comments pulled from YouTube, so... you know. :0)
