Noah sent over his first live shots of the LG Dare while high up in the mountains of Glacier National Park in Montana. He provided us with a quick (and we mean quick) mobile video review of the LG Dare.

Friday, August 08, 2008I just go the Dare.... I cannot scroll!!! Warning - touch screen is a cool concept, but not if you can't scroll. The iPhone is smooth & easy to maneuver... Dare not so much. If you try scrolling it will click on whatever you touch first.

Tuesday, July 01, 2008My renew-every-two comes up on July 3rd and this is gonna be the phone I get. Finally a phone that takes decent videos and pictures. The only somewhat bad review of it I've found is at http://www.infosyncworld.com/reviews/cell-phones/lg-dare-vx9700/9545.html The reviewer doesn't give any phones above a 76% review I think, so he's a pretty harsh critic, but that's good usually. He says he has trouble scrolling with the touch-screen and gripes about how there is no auto-correction or spell-checker or punctuation helper while texting. Maybe they'll add some sort of texting helper in the future with a software update, but for now, it does fall a little short of the Samsung Instinct in those regards, but blows the Instinct's camera away. On a side note, anyone have a flashlight app loaded on the Dare yet? I hate how they omit using the flash as a flashlight on most phones when it's such a handy feature. I am pretty sure it's possible to get a java app (www.getjar.com) onto this phone, but just wondering if anyone has one yet that for sure works. Lastly, can someone post some full resolution pics and/or videos taken with this phone? I'm pretty set on my choice but would like to see some more samples. cnet.com's sample photo is rediculously small and their reviewers a kinda dumb. Oh ya, does anyone have a Sandisk 8GB MicroSDHC card in their Dare? Lots of websites, including Verizon's, state that it supports 8GB MicroSD, but they don't make MicroSD that big yet, only MicroSDHC goes up to 8GB. I have found websites saying it accepts MicroSD and MicroSDHC, but want to make sure before I purchase a MicroSDHC card. I don't expect stupid Verizon to get these details right, and I'm pretty sure they didn't get it right on their website, sigh.

8/14/2008 4:58:02 AMYou are right, Verizon far and away has better service than the new death-warmed-over at&t. Reviewers like "redban" push the iPhone and trash the LG Dare bu they fail to tell you about at&t's crappy service (and this is not saying this, it is former at&t customers.

7/4/2008 6:14:20 AMTazzman, not to say you don't know what you're talking about...but just to clarify for everyone else, the UI on the Dare can hardly be considered Verizon's stardard UI. Personaly, I think Verizon's UI is fine, certainly nothing special, but not bad. But a lot of people don't like it for some reason. Either way though, the UI on the Dare is a lot different. Btw the Vu is for AT&T only, not Verizon. Also the Dare doesn't have many of the bottlenecks that Verizon normaly places on their phones.

LG's Dare for Verizon might well be the best camera phone currently available through a US carrier. And oh yeah, it's got a full touchscreen and 3.5mm headphone jack. Dare is hot.

Noah Answers Your Questions - Comparing the LG Dare & Samsung Instinct

Q. Hi, I saw your comparisons of the LG Dare and Samsung Instinct and I had some more questions about the two. I have some specific questions for the two phones that I'd like some answers to 1. Which touchscreen is better? Which is more responsive? When you're typing which screen works better?  I've heard ppl vouch for both sides so I'd like a good extensive opinion from an actual reviewer. 2. Which browser is better? Because I've...

Noah Answers Your Questions - LG Dare or iPhone?

Q. Noah, I am a first time visitor to your sight, and I love it. I've been anxiously awaiting the launch of the new iPhone.  I ended up ordering one from an AT&T store the weekend of the launch while also researching the LG Dare. I am currently a Verizon customer and now need to decide before picking up the iPhone if I should go with the LG Dare. It seems like GPS and phone are better, and with my credits I can get a Dare for $149. The...

Good Times: Is the American Cell Phone Market Finally Maturing?

Cell phone junkies - or anyone who's spent any time in Europe, Korea, or Japan - will tell you that the U.S. cell phone market lags almost hopelessly behind its global counterparts.  The American market is tightly controlled by the network operators, and half of US phones run on a proprietary standard incompatible with most of the world's networks (CDMA, used by Verizon and Sprint), a combination that's long resulted in a lack of options...

Thanks for your time, your reviews are awesome!Noah answers: Thanks for the email and the kind words - glad you like the reviews.I'm going to do a review comparing Dare to iPhone and Voyager.  It's hard to say which is "better" - it comes down to personal preferences and network coverage.  Dare and Voyager run on Verizon which in many...

verizon taking over alltel

this is my first posting so here it goes. i just switched to verizon as i found out about the takeover by verizon for alltel. anyway i was wondering if anyone has some info as to when it will actualy be noticeable to verizon and alltel customers as i live in an area dominated by sprint and alltel. i am in the "extended network" with verizon and am unable to send picture messages as well as messages that exceed 160 charicters. please give me all...

Question on LG Dare

I just got this phone recently (and loving it) and wanted to change the ringtonesI already made a file for the ringtone and it is on my playlist, and I was wondering how can I make that song to be my ringtone

LG Dare or LG Voyager considering your uses...

personally, i have the LG VX 8700 right now, and i am about to get the Dare, but anyways, i would not get the LG VX8700 because it can lag sometimes and (from what i have experienced) just close/shutdown by itself.  Considering your uses, i would go with the LG Voyager for its full QWERTY keyboard, or the LG Dare because of the virtual QWERTY keyboard, and the unique/cool features.hope this helps...

Dare

First of all, STOP SAYING GET THE GLYDE! because the touch screen on that phone is so finiky and unresponsive!  But i would get the Dare because it is on the amazing Verizon Network, and i like the all around look better than the Instinct.  but then again it is a personal chioce. If you need a phone more for work (e-mail, calendar, etc.) then get the instinct, but if not, get the Dare.Hope this helps...

Why do people hate the iPhone?

I got this question today via Facebook and thought it warranted some thought ... and all that thought warranted a blog post.  So I ask you, as you read on, what do YOU think?  Why do some people just seem to hate the iPhone (and Apple) so much?  Noah, maybe you can answer this for me: Why is it when people praise the iPhone, they're viewed as either blind fanboys, or on the Cupertino payroll, and when people praise 'any' other...
