Omnia or Dare

How much i want each phone:

                                          LG Dare: 50%
                                                                                 Samsung Omnia: 50%

I am debating which phone i should get the, Samsung Omnia or LG Dare.

Please tell me why you would choose that phone. I would like if Noah commented on this.

My Perspective:
I like the Dare for is customizable options, it brings lots of options when you want to customize you experience.
I like the Omnia because its has a larger touch screen and an amazing 5 MP Camera. Also a cool shortcut bar on the homepage.
One thing i dont like about the omnia is the Windows Mobile. The Menus dont look as good as the dare.

Those are a few reasons why i like each phone.

Okay, well, if you want power, then look no further than the Omnia. If you want a more leisure phone, the Dare is okay, but I like the Omnia in almost every aspect better than the Dare. More elegant and sleek, better screen, more options, business features, you can't go wrong. Plus that camera and integrated WiFi (Thanks Verizon) make this one good looking handset.

I'm liking the look of the Omnia as well, but I'm debating on whether or not to get it or an iphone 3g. I've played with the iphone and I do like it, but they're are a lot of things about the Omnia that the iphone just doesn't have. My only concern with the Omnia are how clunky feeling is the OS? The iphone seems pretty smooth in that regard. Do you feel my concerns are unwarranted?

Oh, the iPhone is the smoothest of the smooth. The Omnia doesn't do a terrible job of covering up WinMo, but it certainly could be better. Omnia vs. iPhone in multimedia, the iPhone wins. Omnia vs. iPhone in pure unadulterated power, the Omnia wins.

But the OS isn't as bad as it could be. TouchWiz is decent. But like I said, when you get into the inner workings of the phone, its not so pretty. I still like the Omnia.

Dammit, I'm torn. I agree with your comments and I can't decide which of the two would most fit me. What about the dimness of the Omnia's display? I've read a review saying that it's difficult to use in direct sunlight. Is there any truth to that?

Heck, show me a phone I can see in direct sunlight. But I have absolutely no idea of the dimness of the phone, I would never expect that to be a huge problem however.

Apparently it has a dimming feature after it's inactive for a certain time so that's no big deal. I've heard rumors of the nicer T*OMNIA coming to At&t though so I might wait it out to see what happens.

That would be awesome!

Ive herd that the T*omnia was the korean exclusive version.   but it would be cool.

I personally love my omnia. It is just soooo customizable.  At first it was a little slugish in the menus but once in installed touchFlo 2D dosent seem to be any lag.  Ive also managed to remove the verizon animation on boot and replace it and the music with my own personal animation and music.  Im likeing it more and more every day.  plus 8 gb internal +16 removable how can you go wrong.

I was reading up on the touchflo2d rom and read something about it doesn't have landscape capabilities. Does that mean there is no landscape keyboard for texting and no landscape web browsing? That looks like an awesome mod though otherwise. Thanks.

First of all, anyone who is considering the Omnia versus anything else and for whom the slickness of the interface is an issue, you really need to see this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mc8hjmmzCwg&feature=related  (it starts getting particularly good around 1:15)

Windows Mobile is ridiculously customizable in every way. The LG Dare is not a smartphone, though it has a pretty cool interface.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that.

I have the Omnia and my husband has the Dare. We both love our phones. I have the Omnia because it is a smart phone. It can tether and it can edit documents, other other things for my work. My husband has no interest in editing documents or tethering. He wanted a good phone with some fun features. They are both great, it's more about what you most want to do with the phone.

Thanks

put it this way. the dare is more of an fun phone while the omnia is more of a work phone. i like both. the omnia has a larger screen but the items on the screen are still small so its hard to navigate sometimes. the dare also has a sidebar that you can quickly access apps and programs. the dare is nice and still has a good camera but if you need to send emails and use the web get the omnia. there is no point in getting the omnia if you arent going to use email or web

Sadly i am a popular post writer as u can probably see

nothing against noah but he rarely has time to write replies to posts so I hope that I can help u i the way i have helped many others

all right down to business the omnia is definitely better, it has touch flo win mo (samsung's proprietary win mo) also it packs a good touch screen virtual mose type thing, a good keyboard and thelots of nce features the dare just doesnt cut it.

What i did to my friends omnia though if you dont like win mo is that I loaded android on it which is awesome and now he has oneof he ten android powered omnia's in the nation pretty sick huh? but you may not want to do that because it may screw up your phone and i am a geek who does that kind of stuff.

secondly win mo 6.5 will come out soon and you can update your omnia to that so that you can have a much better looking and funner win mo expierience verall hands down even if you hate win mo the omnia is probably better

neither. wait for the motorola sholes or the palm pre on verizon.  Windows mobile is horrible (Noah Agrees) and therefore the samsung omnia is horrible..... and the dare in the enV touch or voyagerwithout the keyboard so their is no point in getting it because its not a smartphone.... unless a smartphone is not what you want.
