Do I have to change my phone number?
No. You can keep your phone number or receive a new number if you so decide after transferring your current number.  Transferring your existing number is known as “Portability” and was made possible by the Telecommunications Act of 1996

Do I have to cancel service with my existing local and long distance company?
No, the new company will handle the cancellation of your current service. You will receive a final pro-rated bill from your existing phone companies once the service is changed. All following bills will come directly from the new provider.

How long does it take to hook-up or change service?
It takes approximately 5 – 10 business days to hookup or switch service. You will receive a call from customer service to set up an appointment if you are receiving NEW service.

Do I have to be home to receive service?
No, unless if you are ordering two or more NEW lines that currently do not exist. If you have current service and are keeping the same number(s), you do not need to be home for hookup.

Will I lose service during the switchover?
No.

Can I use unlimited plans for my home office or business?
No. Unless clearly marked as a business plan all the plans listed are for residential service only. Unlimited long distance calling plans cannot be used for Internet, telemarketing or autodialing purposes.

Are the local calling areas the same as my current/old provider’s?
Yes, the LOCAL calling areas are the same.

How can I find out which calls are in my local calling area?
You can find this information in the front pages of your current phone book. The local calling areas are the same for all companies in your area.

How many lines can I have?
Most companies allow 2 or 3 local phone lines per household. Business can usually (depending on interior wiring) have as many lines as needed.

Can I pay by check, phone or online?
Each company has different ways to make payment. Please view the payment options section under the “Plan Details” section of each plan for more information.

Can I switch service if I have DSL internet service?
No. Since DSL service is set up through your current local phone company, you would end up losing DSL service. The only option would be to cancel DSL service and see if you Cable company can provide you with Cable Modem service.

Can I switch local service if I have Dial-up or Cable Modem internet service?
Yes, Cable modem service and Dial Up internet services will not be affected by changing your local phone company.

How many bills do I receive?
You will receive one bill for both services.

Can I change my calling plan or features whenever I want?
Generally yes, you just have to call customer service.
