Calling from Hungary to Bosnia - Herzegov - Cell

Who should use these plans?
While traveling internationally, we suggest purchasing a calling card to call back to the U.S. and other countries from any phone available. Your cell phone may work in a foreign country, but your provider may charge extremly high rates when making calls overseas.
           How does it work?
Each company will send you a calling card for use while traveling. Simply dial the access number (each country has a different access number) and PIN before placing your call. Cards are generally available in $5, $10, $25, and $50 denominations. Most cards can be re-charged online from any PC, please see the FAQ section for more Q and A’s.

    MySpace for BlackBerry Breaks Records

    MySpace for BlackBerry a hit!

Last week, I posted about the launch of MySpace for BlackBerry, which joined BlackBerry's social networking crew of Facebook and Flickr. Now MySpace and Blackberry maker Research In Motion announce that their joint venture has broken opening-week records for app downloads at both companies, with more than 400,000 downloads and counting. Users of the MySpace app have already transmitted more than 15 million messages and performed over two...

Drooling From Afar: The LG Prada II

    The LG Prada II

You know it. Some of you have even smacked your lips over it. But alas, there's still no word on the LG Prada II launching in the States, even as this follow-up to the first LG Prada phone debuted in Europe yesterday. Is it fair? Heck no. This thing has a 3-inch capacitive multitouch screen with active Flash UI and a slide-out physical QWERTY keyboard packaged in an elegant yet simple design aesthetic. The minimalist in me can't wait to get my...

Southeast Asia: is mobile web use surpassing wired access?

SE Asia: mobile vs. wired web

The Norwegian creators of the Opera browsers said today that mobile Internet use seems to be surpassing wired access in much of Southeast Asia. And that in some areas, it's the standard means of access, rather than the alternative. You can check out their monthly State of the Mobile Web report here. The geographic snapshot from October happens to focus on Southeast Asia; something I didn't know about when I wrote a piece on the market...

    Mini-Review: Motorola Rapture (VU30) - Verizon

    Mini-Review: Motorola Rapture

Pros: quick and easy picture taking, video capture, plays music without opening the flip, stereo bluetooth, useful external touch screen, sleek design, nice materials.  Cons: price, no music in the background. The Rapture has those grooved metal buttons that can be found on the Motozine. There are two contextual buttons, but none of the fancy LED color changes of the ZN5. The Rapture's rubberized back, shiny little screens,...

    More on Storm: Verdict? Disappointing

    Storm: Verdict? Disappointing

I really, really want to like Verizon's new BlackBerry Storm.  I want to love it.  Why?  Well, competition is good, and in the year and a half since the original iPhone launched, no other phone has been able to match the performance of its touchscreen or Web browser.  HTC's Touch Pro and G1, and Samsung's Epix and Eternity have impressed me as of late, but none of these devices offers the fingers-on...

Cell Phones & Dating: The Dos & Donts

    Cell phones & dating

When I got hitched last year, I was happy to put my history of bad dates firmly behind me. But boy did I pay my dues. Once, during a particularly horrible rendezvous, I ran to the ladies' room and texted my friend."Help! Bad date. Need out :-(  Pls call in 10 min!!"After adding the extra exclamation point for emphasis, I went back to the table and waited to be rescued. Ten minutes never felt so long. My companion's misplaced cockiness,...

Mini-Review: 10 Hours with the BlackBerry Storm

    Mini-Review: BlackBerry Storm

I've had my BlackBerry Storm review loaner for about 10 hours now.  I've spent that time unboxing it, typing on it, browsing the Web, searching for GPS-enabled directions, and watching video on it.  I also had to take care of a few other things during those 10 hours, so I actually haven't been able to pound on Storm quite as much as I'd like to have.  But the embargo is lifting and you're anxious to know what I think of the most-hyped...

Culture shock: a glimpse into the Southeast Asian mobile market

    The mobile market of Thailand

My wife is Thai, and we talk about the differences between our native cultures on a semi-regular basis. Of the many subtle nuances that distinguish and characterize our social and professional habits, I think I've underestimated the role of mobile communications. Her unique perspective on phones reveals the seemingly insignificant details that actually make up our daily lives. I have never fully explored all of Mrs. Walton's comments...

Obama to ban his own smartphone

    Obama to ban his smartphone

It looks like Barack Obama, president-elect and renowned "CrackBerry" enthusiast, may soon have to give up his cellular addiction.   According to GeekSugar, Obama's beloved Curve won't be going to the White House, as security concerns regarding email will likely keep the handheld at bay. Maybe it's not such a bad idea, considering the fiasco that ensued when someone broke into Sarah Palin's email account a few months ago. And she was...
