Surcharge$

From Houston (United States)
Experience: 2 Months
Pros: The plan itself is affordable - $27.95 for local & long distance.

Cons: The taxes and surcharges are ridiculous. They charge for: Federal excise tax, Federal Universal Service Fund, Greater Harris County 9-1-1 service fee, Houston residential municipal fee, Houston sales tax, Houston sales tax-local, PUC-local, Telecom. Infrastructure Fund Reimbursement, Telecom. Infrastructure Fund Reimbursement-local, Texas Equalization surcharge, Texas sales tax, Texas Universal Service Fund, Network Access Charge (the largest charge they add to your bill), Regulatory Recovery fe

Summary: I thought I was saving money by going with a cheaper service plan, but those hidden fees and surcharges are the worst I've seen. I spent less money with the more expensive plan from SBC, because they don't add all of these other unnecessary charges to every monthy bill.
